This is a funny novel about a character stuck in an emotional rut during his high school reunion. I graduated from high school in the same year as the the characters, which made it easy to relate to. I enjoy reading stuff set in the time before the internet and texting took over, and the author takes us down memory lane with many references to that period, especially the music cues. It's structured in a way that you'll always have a good old tune playing in your head while you read. There's lots of drunkenness, sex, and more sex. It's dialogue-driven--like a good movie--with funny and embarrassing situations that will have you rooting for Rory and his predicament. I could picture Hollywood's former "brat pack" being perfectly cast if this had been a film of its time. It's socially aware, but not politically correct...and that's a good thing.

Having gone through my high school years in the 80s, I enjoyed all of the nostalgia. Brought back lots of great memories!!

176 of 181 people found the following review helpful. She must have phoned this one in. By Karen I gave up on Cornwell's latest effort at less than halfway through. At my age, there is no point in spending time reading a book that has absolutely nothing to offer. Like many others, I suppose, I was first drawn to the Scarpetta series because of the fascinating mysteries that were being solved by forensics. And I do enjoy reading books that are published in a series. Most books that are written as a series are interesting because of character development: the Three Pines series by Louise Penny is a good example. When I pick up a new Louise Penny book, I feel like I am greeting old friends.When I began reading Flesh and Blood, I could only think of how very elitist, arrogant and egotistical Scarpetta has become.And how Lucy and Benton have both grown so very elusive and taciturn. And I grew so weary of the petty feud between Marino and Machado that I finally just gave up. As authors become more established, their editors must back off. The first one-third of this book is so repetitive, with Scarpetta commenting (to herself or the reader) that Marino is not aware of what is going on. Over and over. I cannot believe a competent editor would pass on it. And Marino's bullish incompetence stretches credulity. Why would anyone employ such an idiot? Yet she praises his investigative skill while she portrays him as a dunderhead.Cornwell often uses a present tense narrative device as means to create tension and immediacy. In this book, it only creates boredom and confusion. I surely will not buy another Scarpetta/Cornwell novel.

Downward Spiral Continues By Bella Less and less enchanted with the Kay Scarpetta novels, I nonetheless bought this based on the rave reviews I read here. I did finish this book in record time, because I just turned pages and pages at a time through mind-numbing descriptions of bullets and shooting recreations. I absolutely will not be tricked into buying another--very tired of Lucy the Wonder Girl, but mostly of the world of Dr. Scarpetta who is so important that bad guys seeks her out as a target and go to unbelievably extraordinary means to rub her out. Where have all the interesting autopsies gone? Too much techno-showoff here, with murders tenuously tied together, and not enough character interactions....Where are the Scarpettas of yesteryear? They were fantastic.

I invested time wading through this, only to find...no finish...so I have to buy the next book? Forget about it, you just lost a life time fan. Cliffhangers only work for television series.....

You know what the consequence is, and it enjoyed Coco's perspective as an older mother. Really liked the Rosenkrantz and Meryl side stories - and Ethel is awesome! I'm not sure I consider the Coco books funny per se - they are humorous, but more than that, and more importantly to me, they are about a spirited adult woman who manages through life's challenges with spirit and feeling, and with great friends. It is like talking with a close friend about how their life REALLY is, instead of the "everything's great" front. I also love that she's smart, educated, reasonably tech savvy, and knows today's popular music - she's experienced life without mentally getting old.Side note: this book switched from email to Coco's journal. I think I like the switch.

Please, don't let this be the last we hear of Coco and her crazy life!! Very few books have had me actually laughing out loud or forgetting to feed my family because I was too engrossed in Coco' s life! All I can say at this point is...MORE MORE MORE!!!!

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Incredibly Delightful Read By Nancy Coco is a person full of charm and humor and everything seems to finally be right in her life. Her incredibly sexy husband couldn't be more perfect, their marriage is going great, and they have moved into Coco's childhood home to start their life and enjoy every second of it. The second book of her series is on its way to be published and is expected to be number one! But then, Coco realizes she is pregnant and life seems to shift into a roller coaster ride that has more ups and downs than she ever expected. All the characters are incredibly dynamic and I came to like them all in one way or another. This book plays on a lot of topics that could very easily be applied to life and the solutions to the problems are part of the fun. Robert Bryndza is an incredible writer! Equal parts heartwarming, witty, and funny, Coco Pinchard The Consequences of Love and Sex, is perfect for anyone looking for a nice and easy read. I laughed, I came to near tears, and then I laughed some more, I could not bring myself to put the book down until i finished! A very special thank you goes to author Robert Bryndza for sending me a copy of his book to review.

By Eric G Ramsey This is just a checklist for Nelson DeMille's different story lines and it's super helpful. I now have a way to keep track of all of his books and main characters. I read several different authors and quite a number of series and having lists like this make it so easy to keep track of what's what.

26 of 34 people found the following review helpful. Disappointed By R. Barker I have read the entire series of Jonathan Grave books and, after this one, will read no more. I previously admired the main character for his determination to right wrongs, to adhere to a moral code, but in this book (#7) wrongs were done to so many with only a slight nod the possibility that they even happened. In addition, the author appears to be pushing his right-wing political philosophy on the reader. It started in earlier books, but this was pretty blatant. I'm really sorry he had to spoil a good series.

8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Vaguely disturbing... By WJ I have always enjoyed reading this series and will continue to do so. However, I was a little disturbed by two points raised by another reviewer: 1) the rigorous "moral code" of Jonathan Grave seems to be not so rigorous in this book. I'm not sure that I like that. (The slaughter on the mountain bore little resemblance to being just or justice.) 2) Not knowing Mr. Gilstrap's political party affiliation, it's hard to determine if the far right wing agenda (a coup d'état by selective assassination) was a plot device or a reflection of his own beliefs. To have Jonathan Graves wonder if the better outcome had been if the coup succeeded...well, let's hope that future novels deal with right vs wrong and not right vs left.

By LoveThoseBooks When Louise agrees to go to the hamptons with her boyfriend even though she is very certain she is going to break up with him she expects to have the worst weekend. That was before she met Bens brothers. From Bens description she is led to believe both guys are boring and stuffy. However it takes her no time at all when she first meets his first brother David to find out she was wrong. David is the youngest brother and closer to her age. He is fun and carefree... And very blunt. Even though she is dating his brother he has no problem telling her how he feels about her or the things he'd like to do to her. Richard is the next brother she meets and yes he is hot but he is so frwaking arrogant that she can't get over his attitude long enough to enjoy his looks. After she receives an invitation and one night slips into bed with one of Bens brothers her romantic live spirals out of control until it crashes into bliss!

But accepts a weekend away with him to give it a shot. Then she meets his brother David and thinks to herself ...now here is someone I could connect with. When they arrive at Bens parents house enter Richard....he's a hard nose arrogant somewhat jerk of male hottness!!! Louise decides to break things off with Ben after Richard implies she's after the family fortune. Plus she's just not feeling him. She makes plans to meet up with David later for a night cap....little does she know she falls into the wrong bed....and Of course Ben catches her. Richard offers her a job as his assistant and she agrees. I can say so much about this series....but wanna leave some for the readers. Richard is very arrogant but man is he sexy.....I loved this series when it was first out....so glad it's all grouped together!!! Love it!!!

There is no revenge from a billionaire whatsoever.First off she dates a guy named Ben and then when she decides to go to the hamptons with him to meet his family, she meets the two brothers, fantasizes about one and ends up in with another the night she breaks up with Ben. I mean I understand that there is no chemistry but you don't get with the brother right after you break up. That's just gross and wrong. I would say that the heroine is a slut and I am sure that if I were a character in a book, I would assume the same as the other woman character had said about her. I am sorry that this isn't the best book Ms/Mrs. Cooper has written.

I was not particularly happy with his last book, number 3 in Generation Dead series because I felt that Mr. Taluto didn't seem to have anything to write about. Thankfully that has not become a trend. The zombie war was mentioned many times in the last few White Flag books and I was beginning to fear that story was never going to be written down. Now that my fears laid to rest, I'm going to go out on limb and guess there's going to be another one (at least) as well. There was also mention somewhere in the series that one of the Bobbsey twins (Tommy or Duncan, I don't recall which) led a campaign through Florida. I would love to read about that as well.Anyway, the bottom line is that I highly recommend this book and I look forward to whatever Mr. Taluto writes in the future.

Saw my buddy had picked this up and just had to "borrow" it. Finally find out what happens to our favorite band of zombie ass kickers during the zombie wars and it doesn't disappoint.

I have probably read them all from beginning to end at least twice.On one hand, I loved "catching up" with 4 of my favorite zombie killers (John, Charlie, Tommy, and Duncan). These characters have become ingrained in my subconscious, and I find myself comparing "them" to other characters in other post-apocalyptic novels I read. It was nice to "see" they were doing well for themselves. (Crazy, I know. But I bet others feel the same way.)On the other hand, I couldn't help but keep saying "Why" or "What is the purpose to this book?"There was the usual zombie ass-kicking by the guys, the usual "stuck behind a rock and a hard place" scenarios the guys must escape, and which they do. But I have to say most of this book could have been condensed into a hundred pages or so (I won't give out the details here.) Maybe then the rest of the book could have been used to help define the menace, dangers, and enormity of clearing out the zombies from the rest of the country, or maybe a new nemesis, bent on stopping John and his friends from re-Uniting the USA.If Mr. Talluto's mission was to reunite us with our favorite zombie hunting characters before kicking off the true, down and dirty, Zombie Wars Chronicles then this book did its job, if not, then I would not rate as one of his best.Joe,You didn't lose a fan by a long shot, but I personally wanted more depth than this novel provided. I look forward to your next work.

American Love Stories By Lindinva The Cotillion Ball Saga is a great way to start reading Becky Lower's wonderful historical romances about the Fitzpatrick family. The collection includes the first three books of this series centered around the origin of the Cotillion Ball tradition which began in l854 New York society. And no two books are alike. Book 1, The Reluctant Debutante, tells the love story of Ginger Fitzpatrick (a liberated young lady who would rather work in her father's bank than attend a Cotillion Ball) and Joseph (a horse breeder whose bloodline would scandalize society). In Book 2, The Abolitionist's Secret, we are introduced to Heather Fitzpatrick (an abolitionist who yearns to teach slaves to read and write) and David (a plantation owner's son searching for a runaway slave) whose love takes them from New York City to Savannah, Georgia. Book 3, Banking on Temperance, centers on their older brother, Basil Fitzpatrick (who is running a branch of the family bank in St. Louis) and Temperance (a young woman whose family has come to St. Louis to join a wagon train west). Ms. Lower weaves romantic, suspenseful love stories into actual historical events during a fascinating period of American history. Her books make me laugh, cry and fall in love with her characters. As a matter of fact, I bought this bargain priced collection even though I already own each book individually. I'm a sucker for a great cover.

Young society girls in the 1850's would not have used the language or behaved so wantonly. The stories would have been ok except for those discrepancies. Let readers know what is in the book!!!
