5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. not a bad little book and a good start By Mystereity Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I picked this up as a Kindle freebie and found it to be a cute story. At only 58 pages, there wasn't much room for character or plot development, which somewhat hindered the story for me. Some characters were thrust into the story with little or no introduction (the cop "investigating" for instance - did she work for the local police department? Was she a cop from somewhere else on vacation there? What? I have no idea.) But the ending was clever, although I thought the epilogue was a little forced. Yeah, it tied up the loose ends, but it felt tacked on to the end, rather than a continuance of the story.Overall, not a bad little book and a good start, but still needs a little work.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A so-so story if you've nothing more intriguing to read. By cr0ak This is an OK book. I wasn't altogether enamored of it. It seemed like about 2/3 of the way through, the author didn't bother with proof-reading, etc., because there were a LOT of errors (missing quotation marks; missing words; missing letters ... like "t" instead of "the", etc.)The characters weren't all that interesting, either.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Dog Daze and Confusion By DOA This story has an interesting structure, starting with the murder and then having the first part of the book, told from different points of view, flash back. Then, about halfway through, returning to the present directly after the murder. Because of the intriguing and ambitious structure, it could have been a classic (like the Japanese film, "Rashomon"). The problem is in the execution. The writing is disjointed, omitting important transitions, explanations and introductions of characters. Things are thrown into a paragraph with no logical progression or flow. People that weren't in a scene are suddenly part of it with no explanation of how they got there. Here's an example of the disjointed and confusing style:Nori fancied herself a bit of a Jackie O' in red and gold all those years but she could see the look in their eyes when her pale skin came across Mable's [her dog] hair. She definitely knew that Henry [her husband] was no J.F.K. These kids didn't know what it took to make a champion anyway. The entire story (it's very short) is written this way. The author is clearly someone who, as long as it makes sense to her, it's fine; the kind of person who is unaware that others might think and see the world differently and therefore can't follow her many tangents and omissions. This story desperately needed an outside edit before it was published, preferrably by someone who understands that a story has to be accessible to the readers, not only the author. At least, not if the story is going to be published. And, finally, what is with the rash of Murder by Peanut mysteries? At this rate Mr. Peanut is going to outstrip Jack the Ripper. Hopefully someone writes the definitive Peanut Death Cozy and this means of murder can finally be laid decently to rest.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. One Star By Amazon Customer The book was pretty good it's the grammatical and punctuation errors that made it bad.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I think the storyline was great as well as relatable By Scorty I think the storyline was great as well as relatable. I couldn't enjoy as i would have like to because of all the grammatical errors. I also thought some sayings were too much. When describing Jazzys moms garden and referencing the movie baby boy...i dont know what shes talking about or saying the wedding looked like Tyler Perrys movie. This is a great author and other books were easier to read.

Sam Holland asked U.S. Senator Nick Cappuano.Sam's normally unflappable husband looked somewhat flapped as he contemplated the wide array of choices. "How do we know which one to get?"There were spirals and shapes and something called "Easy," but Sam was certain it would be easy for everyone but her. "Maybe we should wait until Scotty gets here and let him pick out his favorite kind.""I want him to have what he likes in the house. How hard can it be?"Sam scanned the shelves once again and decided it could be quite hard. "You don't suppose there's this many choices for chicken nuggets too, do you?"The question seemed to suck the life out of Nick. Sam pushed the grocery cart aside and reached for him.Surprised by her rare public display of affection, Nick returned the embrace. "How am I going to convince him to come live with us permanently if I can't even handle mac 'n cheese for a three-week visit?""He's not going to care about the food, Nick. He cares about being with you.""And you."Sam took in the busy grocery store, overwhelmed by the task. Hunting down murderers was simple compared to this. "What're we even doing here?"Chuckling, Nick kissed her cheek and stepped back from her. "We're doing what regular people do when they have a guest coming to stay with them.""So we're regular people now, huh?""For a few more minutes anyway." Nick took the box that proclaimed to be easy off the shelf and put it in the carriage. "Let's hope for the best.""If he doesn't like it, I'll tell him it was your call.""That's good of you, babe," he said as he steered the cart toward the chicken nugget aisle. "So I've been thinking."Sam was busy enjoying the view of his denim-clad ass as she followed him through the store. He had rich brown hair that curled at the ends, hazel eyes and a mouth that was made for sin. And he regularly made sinfully good use of it. "About?""We need some help.""With what?""Let me rephrase—we need someone to run our lives, especially with Scotty coming to stay with us. What if we get caught at work or something comes up that we can't get out of?"Sam thought about that. "He could go to my dad's.""True, but your dad and Celia have lives too. If Scotty lives with us, he's our responsibility.""What do you think we need?""Someone to keep tabs on him when we're not home. To drive him to practice if we can't do it. To make sure the house isn't a wreck, the dry cleaning gets picked up, the bills get paid, there's dinner at night and some sort of schedule."Sam rolled her shoulders, already chafing at the thought of paying someone to boss her around. "I don't know about this…""Someone to buy the mac 'n cheese and chicken nuggets," he added with the charming smile that made her knees go weak. "You'd never have to step foot in a grocery store again.""That's playing dirty, Senator.""We need someone like Shelby." The tiny dynamo had put together their fairytale wedding in six short weeks. "Someone who can hold her own with you," he added, ducking as she took a playful swing at him. "Why does it have to be a her? I'm picturing a studly dude named Sven with muscles on top of his muscles."Over his shoulder, Nick rolled his eyes at her. "It doesn't have to be a her. It has to be someone who can put up with you."Even though he was absolutely right about that, she'd never tell him so. "You're skating on thin ice, my friend." She followed him up one freezer aisle and down another until he stopped the cart in front of a mind-boggling selection of chicken nuggets. "I wonder if Shelby would be up for a career change."Laughing, Nick put his arm around Sam. "We could certainly ask her.""She won't want to do it. She has a booming business.""You never know. It's certainly worth asking. Maybe she knows someone who'd be interested.""We're really doing this?""Let's ask around and see what transpires.""You're sure this she of yours will know what chicken to buy?"Nick opened the freezer door and withdrew a bag of breast tenders, studied them and put them back. "She can't screw it up any worse than we are.""That's for sure." Sam's cell phone rang. "Saved by the bell."He frowned at her. Their rare day off together had taken a tremendous amount of schedule juggling to pull off, and she hoped this call wouldn't ruin their plans. They'd even declined the standing invite to Sunday dinner at the Leesburg, Virginia, home of his adopted parents, retired Senator Graham O'Connor and his wife, Laine.Sam flipped open the phone. "Holland."While Sam took the call, Nick studied the chicken tender options. He'd been nervous about Scotty's pending arrival for days now. The three-week visit was actually a trial run for all of them. The boy Nick had met at a campaign stop at a Virginia home for children in Richmond had become their close friend. When Nick asked him to come live with them permanently, Scotty's hesitation had surprised him. With hindsight, Nick could understand the twelve-year-old boy's reluctance to leave the place that had become home to him. He'd been elated when Scotty mentioned a baseball camp in the District and suggested he might stay with them while he attended. Nick wanted everything to be perfect for all of them, thus the knot of fear he'd been carrying around. Nothing about their life was ever perfect. Most of the time it was a bloody circus—literally—with Sam hunting down murderers while he campaigned for reelection. They were lucky to get ten uninterrupted minutes together on a regular day. What business did they have bringing a child into that madness? But what choice did they have? He'd become essential to them, and now Nick could only hope they'd become essential to him too."What's the matter?" Sam asked.Nick dragged his eyes from the chicken nuggets and turned to her. "Was that work?"She shook her head. "Tracy had another huge fight with Brooke." Sam's sister had been locked in World War III with her teenage daughter for months now. "It keeps getting worse.""That's tough.""Trace is a mess." She reached up to caress his face. "What has you looking so troubled?""I was thinking about Scotty.""What about him?""What if this visit is a disaster? What if we blow our only chance with him?"Sam stepped closer, placed her hands on his shoulders and looked up at him with potent blue eyes. "It won't be a disaster. It'll be reality. He needs to see what our life is really like—the good, the bad, the ugly. There's no sense sugar-coating it. If he comes to live with us, he needs to know what he'd be getting. He needs to know who he'd be getting."Amused and touched by her efforts to bolster his spirits, he said, "And who would he be getting?""Two people who'd love him and care for him and support him—always.""You're right. Of course you're right.""I usually am," she said with a cocky grin that made him laugh."I refuse to dignify that with a response for fear of hearing about it for the rest of my life." Reaching into the freezer, he grabbed a bag of breast tenders and tossed it into the carriage. "Let's hope we got something he'll eat. If all else fails, there's always his favorite—spaghetti.""Even we can't screw that up.""Don't jinx us."She took his hand and linked their fingers. "It'll be great. I promise."Since his gorgeous wife was, in fact, often right, Nick chose to believe her. For the first time in days, the knot in his stomach loosened a bit. Maybe, just maybe, it would all be fine. After they stashed the groceries at home, Nick went looking for Sam and found her in the study in front of the computer. "Um, excuse me. Day off. Remember?""I need to check in, and then I'm all yours."He wrapped his arms around her from behind and stopped short when he saw that she'd rearranged his desk—again. "Really, Samantha? Every time?"The kisses he placed in the most ticklish areas on her neck made her laugh even harder. He reached around her and pushed the power button on the monitor. "You're done." With more kisses to sweeten her up, he said, "What do you think about a trip to Georgetown? I bet our workaholic buddy Shelby is at her shop today. We can stop in and say hello. If she isn't there, we can grab some lunch and do some window shopping."She curled an arm around his neck and brought him down for a real kiss. "Am I only allowed to window shop?""Whatever you want, my love.""Ohhh, I like the sound of that.""Then let's go."They grabbed a cab to the swanky neighborhood where Shelby kept a storefront bridal boutique. "Damn it," Sam said when she saw the closed sign outside the main door. "It was too much to hope that she'd be open today.""Look." Nick pointed to a pink Mini Cooper parked across the street. "Who else could that belong to?""True.""Call her. Maybe she'll see us."Sam pulled out her phone and placed the call."Did you already blow it with the sexy senator?" Shelby asked when she answered."Ha-ha, no, I didn't already blow it with him," Sam said with a smile for Nick. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, though. We're outside your store. Got time for a quick visit?""For you? Always!"Sam slapped the phone closed. "She's coming."A minute later, Shelby appeared at the door to let them in. The tiny blonde, dressed in a pink silk jogging suit, greeted them with hugs and squeals of delight, though her face was puffy and red. "You guys look fabulous! Married life is clearly agreeing with you. Are you here about the replacement dress? Vera promised it by the end of the month. I still can't believe someone actually slashed a Vera Wang original!""What's wrong, Shelby?" Sam asked. "Have you been crying?""Oh no, no. Allergies." She led them back to her office. "They're a bitch this time of year."Behind Shelby's back, Sam grimaced at Nick, letting him know she didn't believe Shelby's explanation. When they were seated in pink leather easy chairs and holding glasses of pink lemonade, Shelby clapped her hands and let out another giddy squeal. "It's so good to see you! I'm thrilled you came by. The dress should be in any time. Unfortunately, we caught Vera in the height of the spring wedding season.""Actually, we're not here about the dress, even though we appreciate your help in replacing it," Nick said, glancing at Sam. "We have a bit of an ulterior motive.""What's that?" Shelby asked."We're hoping you might know someone who'd be interested in a job.""What kind of job?""Basically, we need someone to run our lives." He explained about Scotty coming to stay with them, how they were hoping to adopt him and how they needed someone to see to the day-to-day details. "Do you know anyone who might fit the bill?"By the time he finished speaking, Shelby had tears running down her face.Alarmed, Sam looked at him and then at her. "Shelby, what is it?""I'm so sorry." Shelby tried frantically to deal with the tears. "I'm a mess lately. It's the hormones. They're making me into a wreck. And the business. I'm trying to figure out what to do, and then here you come and you're looking for—""We're looking for you," Sam said, "or someone exactly like you who is ruthlessly organized.""And can handle her," Nick said, pointing a thumb at Sam.As Sam scowled at her husband, Shelby laughed through her tears. "I should explain. I've been trying to have a baby. I know it might seem crazy, but I'm forty-two, and I'm tired of waiting for Mr. Right to show up. I really want a baby, you know?"Nick reached for Sam's hand and squeezed. "Yes, we know." Thinking of the baby they'd lost in February was like reopening a still-raw wound."I see happy couples through the most wonderful day of their lives, wishing all the time that one of those happy days might be mine. Before you dropped by, I was sitting here by myself, mired in paperwork, weeping all over the place as I wondered how much longer I can do this. I was going to have to either give up on the baby dream or give up the business, because I can't continue to work with happy people while I'm crying my eyes out all the time."Sam sat up a little straighter. "Does that mean you might—""It would be an honor and a privilege to work with you both—and to help take care of your Scotty, who is absolutely adorable.""Really?" Nick said. "What about your business?"Shelby shrugged as if it were no big deal to step away from a successful business. "I have people who could run it for me. I'd keep half an eye on it from a distance.""Are you sure about this?" Sam asked."Your visit here today was the sign I've been waiting for. I need a change, and working with you again would be wonderful. As long as you won't be put out by some occasional tears.""Not at all," Nick said.Sam nodded in agreement. "How soon could you start?""How about a week from Monday?""Wow, that'd be great," Nick said. "That's the day after Scotty gets here.""I'll have to deal with the weekend weddings I've already committed to for a few months. I hope that's okay.""Of course," Sam said, still not fully sold on this plan of Nick's, which had fallen into place rather easily. She also wasn't sure how she felt about being around another fertility-challenged woman when she'd had her own difficulties in that area. "One thing I should mention is the uniform."Nick looked at Sam. "What uniform? We never talked about that."Forcing a blank look, Sam said, "Absolutely no pink allowed. I'm afraid this is a deal breaker for me."Nick and Shelby laughed, as Sam expected them to. "I can't believe this has happened," Shelby said with another squeal. "It's like an answer to a prayer.""For us too," Nick said as Sam's phone rang. "Crap," she said with a regretful look for him. "It's Dispatch.""There goes our day off," Nick said to Shelby. While Sam was occupied, he talked salary with Shelby. In a state of shock, Sam listened to the rote recitation of details from Dispatch.Nick glanced up at her. "What is it, babe?"Her voice was little more than a whisper when she said, "Victoria Kavanaugh has been murdered."

It's well-presented above.Once again Marie Force has given readers a well-crafted romantic suspense in the latest addition to her top-notch "Fatal" series. A perfect combination of love, passion and suspense! The devotion between Sam and Nick continues to grow stronger and the romance only gets more creative and steamier. It's downright swoon-worthy. The chemistry and banter that goes on between Sam and Nick is nothing less than genius. MF continues to develop the depth in her main characters, as well as in the secondary cast with new and fresh detailing. The family dynamics adds yet another level of reading enjoyment to this series. With each book readers are assured a well paced criminal plot with twists and turns that will keep you glued to your chair. Between the sizzling romance and the chilling suspense, I'm always a well-satisfied reader. "Fatal Deception" is exceptionally well-written with creativity, witty dialogue, and sizzling sensuality and once again delivers a complete package.Marie Force is a natural at her craft. Time after time, this author creates magic that brings her stories and characters alive on the pages of her books. As a reader, that's the key to a great read for me. And it always keeps me coming back again and again to read every book this author releases.I highly recommend this series. Try one book and you'll be craving more!

I first feel in love with the writing style of Marie Force when I downloaded at the time a free copy of her stand alone book Love At First Flight for my Kindle and have been hooked ever since. If you've been following the romantic suspense couple of Nick and Sam this is a must read book. You learn alot more about the couple and their friends and loved ones in FD. You find out more about what happened years ago to destroy Skip (Sam's father) marriage and why he didn't want Sam looking into an old case. There's a wonderfully writen dialouge between Christin and Nick about love, marriage and babies. The connection between Sam, Nick and Scotty grows even stronger as does the romance between Nick and Sam. And you get a brand new murder and a whole new political scandel for our new couple plus a whole lot more.

These are not the kind of book you read for massive depth, but rather for escapism; Nick and Sam do require a certain suspension of disbelief. I'm willing to gloss over what must be America's most indolent state senator and some pretty whack police procedure. I'm willing to believe that neither one of them has had such an exhausting day that they've ever skipped a single night of sex. And I'm even willing to believe that they're both having flawlessly consistent orgasms every single time. I mean, it could happen!Where this series really jumped the shark for me was with the arrival of Scotty the Wonder Orphan. There is no child that flawless, and no child who has been in state care who comes through the system that unscathed - even a child living in the impossible magical group home described in this book. Speaking of impossible, there is also no state-licensed care facility that is going to allow a child to cross state lines and stay overnight with the Pope, let alone any other adult. Any couple looking to house a child for three weeks would require intrusive home vetting and background checks from a social worker, and in Virginia, time consumptive state-mandated training. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but some basic research into child placement would have gone a long way here. Finally, that his gratitude is what endears Scotty to Sam and Nick is the worst of adoption tropes, and the characterisation of this relationship in Deception is a bridge too far for me. I suspect I am done with this series.

I've been wanting to get back on some but I didn't know where to start. I read the description on this and It sounded like I might like it considering how much I loved the movie trilogy. This takes place right after the first movie and believe me it really does feel like it. It's brutal, Robocop sounds like himself and so does officer Lewis. It really takes you back. I pre ordered volume 2 right after finishing!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Feels forced. By THowerton The "Avengers: No More Bullying" trade is a mixed bag. You get some standard picked-on-kids stories that feel completely forced and contrived but that fit the format and then you get a set of old-school traditional superhero stories wherein the modern (read: cinematic) Avengers are fighting villains who are being aided by Loki, and it's a stretch to interpret these stories as personal stories of bullying. It's a marketing ploy meant to capitalize on the popularity of these characters, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, and it's inoffensive because of its subject matter but these are no great bids toward artistic endeavors; they're marketing tools for the whole "bullying is bad" campaign though they do try to provide a couple of different viewpoints. The best of the actual bullying stories comes from Spider-man who deals with a villain who was bullied by the same bullies that got to Peter Parker, and a Daredevil clip wherein he is approached by one of his former schoolyard bullies in order to legally defend him. There's also a legit throwback to Thor #356 which is a comical look at Hercules telling a whopper about how he's backsmacked Thor time and again to a group of bullies who are torturing a little kid who idolizes Thor. That one's old-school by today's standards but it fits in this collection. As a collection I'd give this 2.75 for feeling forced, including the humor.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Has a Good Message By zombie phreak So this is a comic where the Avengers try to fight bullying. It's got a good message, but in all honesty, not all the stories in this comic are about bullying. Some are about believing in yourself, being part of a team, and trusting your friends. It's more of a feel good type of comic but still it has some good messages in it.The fights are okay and the artwork is also okay. So all in all this comic doesn't really add much to the Marvel Comics saga as a whole but it does teach kids some valuable lessons.

Should we expect an evolution of Homo sapiens in relation to the way babies are born? Can fast-developing scientific disciplines induce a new awareness? In this wide-ranging, interdisciplinary look at the future of birth, renowned obstetrician Michel Odent takes the question ‘Do we need midwives?’ as a starting point. If a paradigm shift occurs, what kind of midwives shall we need? For how long can we go on neutralizing the laws of natural selection? Are human beings able to raise vital questions before it is too late? Unprecedented situations should first and foremost inspire appropriate questions.

By h garst I think this book is CRUCIAL!!!The updated scientific evidences and experiences, visions and longtermthinking hypotheses that Michel Odent offers in this book consistently deepened my awarenesses and commitments towards the topic of childbirth, towards the motherbabycontinuum, towards the fate of mankind and its evolution...Throughout the reading of the book I started to understand which urgent questions Odent tries to inspire with the title "Do we need midwives".And with the important addendum entitled "Can humanity survive medicine"...I think that this book is a strong call for the discovery and realization of authentic midwifery... An invitation to mankind to get rid of its deeprooted cultural conditionings and to understand what the basic needs of the motherbabycontinuum are during pregnancy-birth-breastfeeding and how these basic needs can be PROTECTED , offering the best possible healthoutcomes for motherbaby and for the whole community on the short and evolutionary term.I think that the scientific evidences, visions, experiences, hypotheses gathered in this book are crucial not only for midwives, but also for breastfeedingpeercounselors and breastfeedingprofessionals, for gynaecologues, neonatologues, paediatricians, nurses, doulas, kangaroulas, familydoctors and all healthprofessionals and healthresearchers.. And this book is to my opinion crucial also for activists in the field of human rights, environment protection, sustainable development, and of course for politicians and nationleaders, in short for all the men and women of the world...Yes, I intensely hope that this book will reach the goal to be a startingpoint... a precious guide and tool to "inspire the appropriate questions" that can help humanity change its' deep rooted cultural birthparadigms and align them with our physiological, our mammalian paradigms, especially during the crucial primal health period!!...

I like the characters a lot better than in Special Delivery By lenkalotte Review for books 1-4.I like the characters a lot better than in Special Delivery. Writing wise there are more mistakes in these books. I can tolerate them because with the kindle unlimited trial month I am basically reading them for free and I've read a lot worse for free (I've also read many things worlds better than this for free).Unfortunately, the whole thing falls kind of flat. A lot of things are happening, but other than in first book, the writing fails to really make me feel anything. The characters, all around, are fun, that's why I kept with it. But I think I have it out of my system now. This series would benefit greatly from editing that made it tighter. The things it includes really could fit nicely in one novel.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding! By Jalee J. Tuma I think I'm in love with JD. In fact, maybe I'm in love with this author! I have enjoyed everything she has written and this is no exception. It is refreshing to see love and passion that is presented in a way that reminds you of your own life. There are scenes in this entire series that I can easily see in my life. When I'm upset, my sweetheart is known for pulling out a one-liner or silly comment to pull me back to an even keel. Being surprised with your favorite food or supported in your decisions is not something everyone gets to experience on a regular basis.I cried (happy and sad tears), I laughed, and I even learned something (I'm not a Lord of the Rings fan). I love when a book gives you more that you expect!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. fascinating intelligence and humor that underlies the dialogues By carolina mery I find fascinating the intelligence and humor that underlies the dialogues of each of the books in this series. The story is extremely attractive. The personalities of Candace and Jameson are captivating, acuity, intensity, the ever-surprising everyday... JA Armstrong knows how to round up your reader mind... Creates stories that catches you in a suggestive, fun atmosphere and also romantic... creating these absolutely absorbing, deep, adorable characters (Candace is just great). Once you start reading J.A. books, you don't stop... It does not disappoint you. And I always end wanting more... Read them all!

By Shauna Wheelwright This book intrigued me from the very first page--Marilynne wanted to type the Book of Mormon out word-for-word?What an concept! Why though? I had to read more!Interesting that she started out with a goal to write out the Book of Mormon NOT write a book about it...Yet through her typing...she discovered something quite thought-provoking...unique words.Yes, words that were not commonly found in any other scripture...so who wrote this book? How many different people? For that is what it is testifying of...She also discovered a pattern with punctuation, or lack thereof, that is "evidence for the antiquity of the Book of Mormon."How could she keep something like this to herself?Grab a copy and she what else she discovered...She even shares the unique words that she found so that you too might make this a study of your own.SO GRATEFUL that she did share! My own understanding and love of the Book of Mormon has been increased by this book!I am now looking for these words with joy and anticipation.I highly recommend this book!

Another laugh-out-loud best selling novel from Rich Amooi! Summer is finally here and Geography teacher Sara Larson has exactly one month to find the perfect date for the wedding of a high school rival. The odds seem stacked against her, but the last thing she wants is to sit at the kids’ table again. Or even worse, the singles’ table. While trudging through an assortment of certified losers, Sara fights her attraction towards Ian, the irresistible guy next door. Art teacher Ian McBride has a dream of opening his own gallery, but for now he’s focused on sculpting a gift for his grandparents’ fiftieth anniversary and enjoying a relaxing summer. However, Ian is blind-sided when crazy, beautiful Sara and her giant dog move in next door and rock his world. Too bad she wants nothing to do with him. How can Sara avoid the attraction that sizzles between them and stick to her rule of not dating neighbors? As far as Ian’s concerned, the prince Sara is looking for is right under her nose. And one kiss just might change everything. KISSING FROGS is a fun, fast-paced romantic comedy guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Let the fun begin!

You'll be wanting your partner or close friends to read it too so you can talk about it By Oscar I won't talk about the plot, since other reviewers have already said a lot about it. You will find this book full of good feelings. It is totally recommended if you want to escape into a good story, in a pleasant small town in Silicon Valley. It is the kind of book that will leave a smile on you face. But not only smiles, there are very hilarious situations that make you laugh out loud. You'll be wanting your partner or close friends to read it too so you can talk about it with them, like you do with movies. It is full of dialogue and internal thoughts of the characters, revealing the personalities of Sara, Ian and the others, and bringing you closer to them. The unexpected turn at the end and the resolution is very engaging and fun. You can't stop reading till the end! I just bought it yesterday and read it in a few hours!Amooi has become one of the writers I follow, even though Romance is not my favorite genre. This is the third comedy in a row that I've read from him, and I've given them all 5 stars in my reviews. His books leave me wanting more stories like these. Congrats Mr. Amooi, you can be proud of this new story. I will recommend it to everyone I know.

A fun, cute, and sweet book By Marcela - The Bookaholic Cat 4.5 StarsAfter being submerged in thrillers for two weeks I needed a change, I needed to read something fun, cute and sweet and lucky for me I had just the perfect book, Kissing Frogs by Rich Amooi.Geography teacher Sara Larson is not only happy that school is over, she also happy with her new house. Two months of vacations awaits her and she plans to sleep in everyday, but her neighbor has other plans for her. He is a sculptor who likes to start the day early, too early for Sara’s taste.Sara can’t believe she is being awakened with a ruckus at seven in the morning on a Sunday. Even her poor dog Kili is missing her sleep. With no other option, she goes next door to ask her new neighbor to keep it quiet. What Sara wasn’t expecting was the nice specimen of a man that opened the door. After the confrontation, Sara perplexedly returns to her house. Her new neighbor, Ian, is not only hot as hell; he is also fun and smart. Sara knows she is in trouble, because after her last experience she promised herself never to date a neighbor again. She won’t succumb to Ian’s charms, even now that she’s desperate to find a date to go to her nemesis’ wedding in a month’s time, for that she has online dating.Ian likes his new crabby neighbor. She is beautiful, funny and the chemistry between them is something they can’t deny. He knows she doesn’t date neighbors, but he is willing to do everything in his power to make her break her rule because he knows they are good together.I liked Sara, she was a beautiful person and a great friend. After learning about her past it was easy to understand why she didn’t want to date her neighbor. Seeing her experience with online dating was incredibly entertaining. Her dates were all unusual, comical, but the best part they were believable.Ian was a delightful character. I liked that he was cute, smart and caring. I loved how he was with his grandparents and with his best friend. I also liked what he did for Sara at the end, that showed how committed he was to make things work between them. The chemistry between Sara and Ian was very obvious since their first encounter. I liked how things develop slowly between them. I also liked to see them fight what they were feeling, but failing in the intent. They are a cute couple, one that made me believe in their HEA.The secondary characters make the story even more entertaining. Ian’s best friend, Billy, was hilariously funny as was Sara’s friend, Becky. One thing I like about Rich Amooi’s books is that there is always a furry friend in them. I like that they are not just fillings in the story, they make an important part of it. In Kissing Frogs we have Kili, a beautiful and lovely Saint Bernard who eats everything she can find and is not aware of her size or her weight. As I said before, Kissing Frogs by Rich Amooi is a fun, cute, and sweet book. Kissing Frogs is the perfect beach or pool read. It’s also the perfect book for those days when you want to read something that will make you smile and laugh out loud couple of times. I highly recommend it.

I loved the style, it's really fun and easy to read. I loved all the characters, especially Sara and Ian, they're both sweet and charming and you cannot help but falling for them right away. And above all, I loved the story, it's sweet and cute and funny, it has the right pace, and I got absorbed into it from the very first pages. It is just the perfect book to read on a summer day while you are enjoying your vacation. It achieves the right balance of being sweet and funny while keeping the story interesting without dragging it along too much. It is my favorite book by Rich Amooi so far. I cannot wait to read the next one!

    • Hawke, Santini, and the coolest attack chopper ever made are back in this epic reimagining of the hit TV classic! The world has never seen a clandestine war machine like Airwolf — this nuclear-powered helicopter sports a cloaking device, an EMP generator, and more firepower than most fighter jets its size. After wresting control from the mysterious black ops organization that created it, pilots Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini set out on a series of bold, new adventures around the world as they work to quell simmering international threats before they combust. Hawke and Santini may be good, but they aren’t the only state-of-the-art weapons program in existence. Will they figure it out before Airwolf goes from hunter to hunted?

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Reimagining of a camp classic misfires as often as it hits By Paul I’m gonna try to come at this as simply a book, albeit a graphic novel, but the thing is I was a huge fan of the TV show as a kid—probably would not have bothered reading this otherwise—so I can’t help comparing it. The first thing is getting used to the changes, as this is technically a “reimagining,” as in Battlestar Galactica, definitely not a continuation. Santini is now young and black rather than old and an Italian cliché; it takes them quite a while to explain it’s his son, and then go further to say he was adopted. Also different is Archangel, now a beautiful young woman rather than an older one-eyed guy. However, since that’s more of a position than a name, and the guy shows up later, it isn’t as jarring. At one point I wondered if it was really Stringfellow or his brother, but thankfully that didn’t last long. One thing I enjoyed was that, unlike a lot of graphic novels, this isn’t one overreaching arc, but rather each of the collected comics is a separate episode. We get our heroes saving a Pakistani scientist from prison; taking out some Indonesian bad guys; battling an Arab warlord in what looks to be Somalia but could be Qatar or such; rescuing a supposed teen drug lord. . . okay, that one stretched things a bit much. They’re even going up against a militia on home soil who’s gotten their hands on a stealth aircraft; too bad about that brave female agent. This was most likely the weakest entry, as it featured the stealth in a dogfight with Airwolf, which is completely impossible, as anyone familiar with stealth technology would know. The writers might have some knowledge of military operations, but the use of an obsolete Warthog—the plane, not the animal—in Indonesia is also a miss. The Indonesian military guy uses the phrase “Crispy critters,” and I really do hope it was intentionally funny. In fact, all the foreign officers speak Big Word English. As one would expect of a woman drawn in what is essentially a comic meant for men—or more likely teenaged boys—Archangel is drawn hot, but there’s a good reason nobody likes her. The writing is pedestrian, the plots simple. . . but then I don’t remember the original winning any writing Emmys either. The best line had to be: “Queen of Deceit in a kingdom of liars.”For this fan, a bit disappointing. As an objectionable objective observer, it’s okay.

Missed the mark for me By Krystal I was probably the biggest fan of this show for my generation (seriously, I watched this daily when it was in reruns. I couldn't get enough) - so I was beyond excited when I saw that it was being re-imagined as a graphic novel. I was expecting the same campy awesomeness that I experienced when watching the show. And I was let down.As a story - its as good as could be expected. There was a basic story-line with a lot of action (similar to the original TV show), however it does not translate quite as well in print as it did on the television screen.I think my biggest issue with the whole thing however is the fact that they flat out said "Santini" in their synopsis and yet instead of the old Italian mentor that I've come to know and love - I got this young black man who was apparently the "adopted son" of the man I grew up watching. Its not that I had a problem with the character so much, but I would have loved to have seen the man I remembered and then had his son introduced. All things considered I think this re-imagining may do well with the younger generations - those of us who didn't grow up watching the original series every day. However, for us due hard fans - it just doesn't hit the mark.DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

Airwolf Is Still Airbourne By Upstate New York Reader Airwolf was on TV in the midst of the Cold War - and it served to stir up the worries of world that faced a big red enemy half a world away. Now, in the 21st century, Airwolf returns; but fighting different enemies.Today the enemies are in the Mideast, the far east, and in the midst of our own CIA. Hawke, Santini and other are again joined together to use the one-of-a-kind helicopter to fight these new enemies while being just as cryptic and dangerous to the very ones who would destroy those finding their way in the new century.Having enjoyed the old Airwolf, I found the half-dozen or so stories found in this collection inviting - though occasionally a bit uneven (given the multiple authors), as a whole the stories are still exciting and fun. Danger is always around the corner. And like any good soap opera, the story ends with a cliffhanger. It may not be the cold war, but we still live in a dangerous world and Airwolf and the men who support her are there to fight that war.______________This review is based on a free electronic copy provided by the publisher for the purpose of creating this review.
