A Wonderful Introduction to M-preg By Marleen I always like it when an author takes a trip off the beaten path and does something original, something you won’t find in most other romances. And that’s exactly what Chris McHart does in this book.Alex gets pregnant after a one night stand with a man he only knows as Gerome. When he finds himself pregnant it comes as a huge shock. While male pregnancies are not unheard of they are certainly uncommon and, more importantly, illegal.This is the point where the story doesn’t quite go where you might expect it to travel. This is not the story of how the two fathers to be bond over the pregnancy and eventually fall in love with each other and the baby. Instead Alex finds himself growing closer to his flatmate and life-long friend Sam.Sam has been feeling more than friendship for Alex for a long time and is there for Alex from the moment he discovers he’s pregnant. As Alex grows bigger, the two men grow closer, but not without encountering a few bumps in the road.Before I started this book I read somewhere that this book ends on a cliffhanger and I was worried about that. To say I’m not a fan of cliffhangers would be a gross understatement. Personally I wouldn’t call the ending of Alex’s Surprise a cliffhanger. While it is clearly not the end of the story, the characters are safe and happy when the book ends.Overall this was an original story with likeable characters and based on a fascinating idea. Alex’s Surprise held my attention from start to finish and made me smile, worry and tear up once or twice. This was my first encounter with mpreg but I can safely say it probably won’t be my last. If only because I do want to read Saving Alex as soon as possible to find out what happens next. J

This is the first male pregnancy story line I have come across and I think the author handles it brilliantly. This is a story with a paranormal element, but only as far as it is needed to make the tale believable. I hope to read more of Sam and Alex's journey very soon. This book definitely falls in the "you have got to read this" pile. The story is very fresh and I haven't read anything like it.Alex needs to get out and get laid. He checks out a club and ends up finding a hottie for the night. Gerome seems normal, and they head to Alex's place to hook up. They tried to be careful, but the condom broke. Both admit they are clean, and Alex thinks that is it. Gerome takes off and that ends their romance. Sam is Alex's roommate, but he has also been in love with Alex for some time. He never pushed because Alex had made it clear that they were just friends. When Alex's world gets turned upside down, Sam is first in line to jump up and help. Will Alex survive the pregnancy? Could the vampire help them? Would he? Will Alex see the love that is right in front of him? Can they stay hidden? All these things need answers, but the story so far might not answer them all. This book has a happily for now kind of feel, but know that this story is not over. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

I love M/M genre, and adding an "alternative" aspect, grabbed my attention when reading the synopsis. I enjoy love stories, but adding something a little different amped up my curiosity.Chris McHart's writing is pretty flawless. The story is fast-paced, smooth and flows easily. It was a subject that I have not read before, but the author's words were believable and exciting to experience!!!The chemistry between the main character's is intense and felt through the pages. I laughed and snorted out loud a few times at the main Hero's side-effects of pregnancy. I have been there, and they were totally relate-able. For a short story, the "sexy-time" was hot, and not over-done, but important and captivating!The end isn't really a cliff-hanger, but you will want to read the next book!I have the next book, Saving Alex, and I think I could tolerate a bit of drama. If the author wanted to introduce a another character I don't think a whole book was necessary. Story was a bit boring, but in order to read the The Connects Wife 6, you will have to read this book $$. Q was a bum and I know somehow he will resurface, James seemed off but it makes sense in the end, and Ms. Nakia I had to read 6 books to figure out what her purpose was in the this whole thing. I guess we'll wait for the next installment.

Chanel Coco was something else and showed you can NEVER hold a good woman down. That ending though had me all messed up! I had to go back and read that bad boy again and then had one of those Ah ha moments when I thought about the Christian Knight Quincy was waiting around for!!!! Then that ending had me like YES Lawd, she's not dead She's Alive!!!! OMG - I can't wait for Connect 6!!!!!

This book truly has it all, especially the readers on the edge of their seats. Channel Cavette, is just a scared child in a woman's body looking for love in the simplest and truest form. But what she got instead was her, no good lazy, woman beating, convict, bully of a baby daddy (?). And an older fine dude that's full of secrets for her lover. Mix that in with all of secrets of her life and family this book will keep u on the edge of your seat trying to guess and wonder and preparing yourself for bomb to drop, because you all know that with MS. Nako, anybody can get it (TCW5) I'm just saying. If u have been under a rock or on another planet, or just have No way of communicating with people or civilization making u uninformed about the hottest new author in the game, better play catch up run do not walk to get your kindle, iPad what ever and get this book you will not be disappointed. And just a PS. Yes this author's books are series books, don't get in your feelings because she has the next part out so fast that the books really flow almost like you were never interrupted. What great summer reads. Oh yea Nako I love Chanel maybe even more then Farren don't know yet.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book four after reading the other three. Mogul Book Four really takes things to the next level. We are getting to learn more about the characters and how they are the way that they are. We are seeing Nate and Diana fall further in love and it’s such a blessing to read through their story as it develops. The love scenes are very sexy and hot! Nate will do anything to protect Diana and we are learning more about his devotion to her in this book. Can’t wait for book 5!

Some clues are being dropped, but still no idea what they want with or from her. This is a good read with minimal grammatical errors, and a good storyline. On to book five.

It seems to be all of the rage right now, write a few pages, then publish. A throw back if you will to the serial stories in ladies magazines a precursor to soap operas.There is nothing wrong with a series. IF it stated clearly that is what it is. I'm sorry, but 27 pages is not a book. It is an installment, and should be noted as such. Amazon would be smart to start selling these under that heading.Now to this work. From what I read, it seems that the story was getting it's wrap up.... Or was it? Apparently another "book" is in the making (oh goodie!) So, no, the story has not finished, there needs to be more income from incomplete work to be made!The characters were developed as far as I could see, and that isn't very much considering there were only 27pages of material. You really needed to read from the start of the series. So be prepared to pay for each installment.Personally, I would pass it up, series like this are a pain in theA$$.

Great kid friendly stories that take me back to the stories I read when I was a kid By Wayne A McCoy 'Mickey Mouse: The Mysterious Crystal Ball' is a fun Mickey Mouse story that feels like a classic one.When Mickey goes to a carnival, he meets a strange fortune teller who seems to know a lot about the future. In reality, he's in league with criminals and trying to get Mickey to mislead the cops away from crime scenes. One step ahead of Mickey is famous detective Shamrock Bones.Backup stories feature Goofy and his pet crow, Ellsworth. There is a story about Mickey getting involved with some missing explorers, and one featuring Mickey with his nephews. A special treat is a one page story from 1933 called The W'angler featuring Mickey getting creative in catching a fish.I loved the art in the main story by Andrea Castellan. I liked the art in most of the rest of the material. Some feels a little uneven and out of line with the rest of the art, but it's all ok. The stories feel like the books I read as a kid, and I think today's kids might enjoy these stories.I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Diamond Book Distributors, IDW Publishing, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Good Selection of Mickey Mouse Stories in Comic Form By Grateful Grandma A collection of Mickey Mouse stories with good illustrations. Some of the stories were more entertaining than others. There were characters and places that I had not heard of or seen before. Of course we also see the old favourites as well, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy. Not sure if children will enjoy the stories as much as older fans who grew up with Mickey Mouse but they will definitely enjoy the illustrations. Mickey gets into trouble throughout the stories, but always figures it out and gets out of it before the end of the story. A collection that Mickey Mouse fans will enjoy.

It's powerful, hopeful, brilliant, beautiful, a second chance at something better, and restorative.Cal lives haunted by the ghost of a past that can never leave him. Having served time for a car crash that took another life, he spends his parole time at a halfway house, trying to get his life in order. He has a plan he wants to stick to, and it didn't include a young man named Troy. But Troy invites himself into Cal's life, and with each passing day, his life is a little brighter because of it.Troy has his own baggage in the form of an older brother who would use him until there is nothing left. Troy would do anything to keep his brother around, and the pain that that causes digs itself deep into Troy.Both men are very well written (absolutely every character is very well written) but it's Cal's story that steals the show. From the moment it begins to slowly unfold, you want to wrap him up and hold him together. When he finally realizes that he can heal from the pain and guilt, and that he no longer has to settle; that there is someone perfectly imperfect that he loves and who loves him, your heart will break and soar for him.I don't think I can put into words how much I love this story. It's beautiful, and emotional, and honest. It's second chances, hopeful futures, and healing. It's an incredible story from two unbelievably talented authors.It's perfection.

I've read every story they've written and I can't pin down a favourite. I'd even struggle to rank them in order of preference, but if I did have a few hours to ponder, The Forest Savage would be right up there at the top of the list.First off, this is not fluffy MM romance. It is a romance, and the main characters are two gay men, but their story is a tough one, and it's very real.Claire and Al are clever authors. Whether it is their intention or not, their stories provide social commentary on British society, where social class is still a major structuring feature. In The Forest Savage, they tackle working class crime, which is not glamorous or exciting. It's grim and gritty, and it has many victims, including the friends, families and lovers of the offenders.There's no 'in your face' moralising or theorising. The authors just tell the story. The characters are beautifully drawn and fully fleshed out, and the sexy stuff is both erotic and emotional. The narrative flows smoothly, and the final chapter brings resolution and a HEA.Perfection. :)Thank you to the authors and the DRitC team for a wonderful FREE story - part of 'Love is an Open Road'.

(I had also had this on pre-order so I purchased it as well) I have reviewed a few of Stacy's books, and I am so glad I found her.The title says it all...A Sweet Romance. I fell in love with Kittle Falls in the first book and couldn't wait for this one.Brayden is the oldest brother and a cardiologist, Lana is a patient who comes into the ER with SVT. They run into each other in the Hunter's beachfront store again, exchange numbers with the help of Cruz. Brayden wants to set up his own 24/7 clinic on the island so help would be closer, Lana just happens to be an architect on vacation. He swears he is too busy to find a girlfriend and date, and never thought of dating a patient. The chemistry between the two is there from the beginning.You won't be disappointed in this book

Brayden is a doctor and is only recently back in his hometown, where the locals know not to get too involved with the tourists because they always leave. Things are different with Brayden and tourist, Lana--they have a cute meet in his doctor's office and it's an insta-attraction on both parts.Brayden comes across as a very serious guy, who takes his work, life, and family...well, seriously. Lana has a lot of the same characteristics, getting through a tough college degree in near record time, yet she's more open to adventure and really latches on to an unsolved mystery involving the founder of this town. The two of them have some romantic and suspenseful adventures while trying to solve the case and in turn, they fall deeper for one another.The mystery added a fun and different element to this family series, but it wasn't the main point. The romance happened too fast for me, but I loved that both characters felt the same way and their thoughts were clear on about that. Lana's father had me feeling a little angry about the way he was handling her career choice, but as a parent, I could see where he was coming from. I loved getting to know the Hunter family and some of the brothers a little better and look forward to their stories. I enjoyed the ending and the way it wrapped up, leaving me feeling satisfied. This is Book 2, but can stand alone. This is a great, light, clean and romantic, summer read!Content: a cuss word or two; kissing (clean); nothing else of note. About the Author Truman's first professional comics work was Grimjack with writer John Ostrander. Along with being a fan favorite and often imitated character, Grimjack almost single-handedly defined the "grim and gritty" action comic character archetype. Truman has been continuously creative for more than 20 years, displaying his pulp sensitivities in his writing. In 1985, he created Scout, which was followed by Scout: War Shaman, a futuristic western. A year later, he relaunched the Hillman characters Airboy and The Heap for Eclipse Comics. He also developed The Prowler, a Shadow type character, and adapted The Spider for Eclipse. In 1989, at DC Comics he created Hawkworld, a reinvention of Hawkman. With author Joe R. Lansdale, he reinterpreted Jonah Hex as a horror western. In it, their creation of villain Edgar Autumn elicited a complaint from musician Edgar Winter. Truman was chosen by Dark Horse Comics to illustrate a newly completed Tarzan novel and wrote a story arc for the comic book. He also wrote virtually the entire run of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for Valiant Comics. He also wrote Star Wars at Dark Horse Comics. While at Dark Horse Comics, he took over the writing of Conan from Kurt Busiek in 2006, and after that series ended he started Conan The Cimmerian. The author lives in Lancaster PA.

Review from a non professional fan By The cimmerian Well, it seems to me that the 2 reviews prior to mine have been made by professional critics.I`m no professional critic, but I`m a huge fan of the barbarian.This is not a review that details every aspect of the book because I think those two have already done a masterful job in pinpointing every little thing about this arch. This review is rather some impressions I had while reading the book, nothing fancy here.Well, all I can say is that this is THE BEST ADAPTATION ever made by the trio Truman/Giorello/Villarrubia. And saying it is the best it is something really big.This team is responsable for such gems as Cimmeria and Iron Shadows in the Moon adaptations(just check out the reviews of those books here on Amazon and see for yourself why people claim this team to be one of the best Conan has ever seen). And they deserve their reputation, specially when we are talking about such pearl as Phoenix on the Sword.The story is tight, convincing, very well written and organized and is accompanied by Giorello`s art, which has become a standard when it comes to the current series.The colors are quite good and they match the art pretty well. My review on the previous book of this team, The Scarlet Citadel, was not so positive when it comes to the colors, because I had the impression that on The Scarlet Citadel Vilarrubia`s tones seem to compete with Giorello`s art: they were too heavy in some panels and the choices made for some pages made them look bad.But here on Phoenix on the Sword Vilarrubia renders every tone in a very balanced way and they only add to the artistic atmosphere in every single page, with no exception.This book proves that what was already very good has become better. I can only fanthom what this team will be doing in their next work, if they just keep improving.Recommended for those that are not so acquainted with Conan just yet and a must for the die-hard fans.

Howard (REH), Conan's creator) was first published in the pulp magazine 'Weird Tales' back in 1932. From their the story has been reprinted many times in hardback and paperback anthologies that focused on, of course, CONAN stories. Then, in 1970 Marvel Comics acquired the rights to the CONAN properties and the comic book became quite a success with Roy Thomas at the helm, adapting many REH stories. However it was in 1976 that the CONAN Annual #2 hit the stands and that was my first exposure to 'The Phoenix on the Sword.' The art was superb with a prologue by the great John Buscema and the remainder of the story was done equally as well by Vicente Alcazar and Yong Montano. From that, it became my favorite Conan story. Now, all these years later I found myself excited all over again. Dark Horse Comics has done a great job with the CONAN legend and Timothy Turman's adaptation does not disappoint. Tomas Giorello manages to capture the John Buscema CONAN style, making him larger then life; a scarred barbarian that is literally an unstoppable force of nature. But Jose Villarubia's colors finish this off creating mood and a colorful grittiness that I think REH himself would give a nod of approval to if he were with us today. I highly recommend this if your tastes lean in the direction of Sword and Sorcery. It is in effect a short story, but the term Graphic Novel fits this well as you get so much more and it fulfills the potential that this medium of entertainment has to offer. 5 stars and more!!

By Leo Hott In the opening story board's of the dark Horse "Conan" Graphic Novel series a disgruntled Wazir is telling a curious young prince Conan tales! Other than a brief glimpse into the Thoth -Amon character in the "Conan" series it is in this "King Conan" Graphic novel we see who that disgruntled evil looking Wazir really was or is in relationship to Conan!!! Thoth Amon one of Conan's most threatening opponents he ever faced!!! I collected Dark Horses "Conan" series from volume #0 to #12 and Conan had yet to take the throne & the artwork was starting to fade from Graphic Novel quality to Comic book quality so I purchased four "King Conan" tales. I wanted to make sure my graphic Novel collection had some story's of Conan as King of Aquilonia. I am very happy I did & the art quality is top notch as well as the story translation. Now I can relax & collect at my leisure.Robert E. Howard had a amazing gift considering he was basically a self taught author. His gift for describing mood & vividly detailed scenery & the action in fight sequences in so few words at a poetic pace that imprinted the scene so perfectly in the mind's eye of the reader that transforming his story's into graphic Novel's is a match made in heaven!!! Being a artist myself I have drawn many scene's from his Turlough O'Brien & Athelstane the Saxon tales & would love to see those unfinished story's compiled together with the finished tales & made into a graphic Novel!!! I have collected the Dark Horse "Conan" series #0 through #12 & picked up 4 of the "King Conan" graphic novel series considering these 2 series the best in the many collected offerings of Conan material. I have been a huge Robert E. Howard fan since discovering Zebras release of the collection of short story's "The Pigeon's from Hell" at age ten . Over the years I went through many stages of being a R.E.H. fan from collecting different publisher's, to checking out the "Comic Book Conan", & even went through my Howard purest fan stage. Now at age 50 I am rediscovering R.E.H.'s work through "The Graphic Novel format"! It is my opinion R.E.H. pumped out adult fantasy hero's like Stan Lee pumped out Super hero's! Some how the movie industry has always seemed to fall short of capturing R.E.H.'s hero's to film successfully. Ironically enough I think the best job to date has been the movie 'Solomon Kane" which was a non Howard origins tale but totally captured Howards hero to perfection & even manages to explain how this puritan has learned such great fighting skill, something only eluded to in one of Robert E. Howards poems. I truly hope they make another Solomon Kane movie based this time on Howards work! Considering other than Solomon Kane Howards hero's have paled by comparison to his story's on the big screen, I am truly happy that Dark Horse is doing a great job bringing Conan to life, & I highly recommend the graphic Novel format's "Conan" & King Conan" over the other versions of collected retold comic book offering's. Finally through the graphic Novel's you get a better or should I say truer peek into the colorful world Howard created for his brawny hero! While J.R.R. Tolkien dedicated a life time to building Middle Earth along with complete alphabet's & language's for his characters Robert E. Howard did equally well creating elaborate landscapes fantastic flora & fauna often as threatening as the antagonist his characters faced! While the mood of many Conan tales was dark the world he adventured in was full of vivid color right down to the megalithic structures of Lappa lazuli. Emerald, Gold & rare earth element's! I am also glad they wrote Conan as being more than just a so called "Barbarian" Considering his ability to read, write & speak multiple language's, knowing metal forging, Astronomy well enough to pilot a ship & knowing pharmaceutics from the plants in his natural world & his unerring ability to quickly rise to the top position of every endeavor he chose to pursue, even when he was a cultural outsider would indicate to me he was sporting an I.Q. around 160+!!! These graphic novel's stay very close to Howard's original tales & when they deviate it isn't to the point of changing Conan's character just polishing his rough edges... he was written in the 1930's after all. I think with Robert E. Howards love for art he would totally approve of the "Conan" of the graphic Novel's as well as any other of his many character's to be reborn in this vibrant format!

I have fallen so in love with all of the characters in this series. Alexis Aaron has an incredible style of writing and her ability to spin a tale never ceases to amaze me. What talent! What a mind! Once again I tried to pace myself so the book would last longer, but I just couldn't put it down. The characters are continually evolving and are so dear to my heart. Ted and Mia and their love are the cornerstones of the story for me. Well of course Murphy is too. I highly recommend all of Alexie Aarons books. She really is my favorite author of all time.

I was awake all night long because I could not put down this book. The people are very real to me I have been with them from the very beginning. Mia has been on a long and painful journey in her life and her loves. I'm not sure I would have put her through so much but it seems to have made her a better person. And Ted is her best supporter how ever Murphey will always have her back. I love this book and this writer I would recommend this book to anyone.

The characters are once again given triumph and tragedy that I wasn't sure they would emerge from. Several enlightening moments about exactly what our dear Mia is and the ending as usual leaves you wanting more. My only problem is that I wish Alexie Aaron would write faster, as I seem to never get enough of PEEPS.I give this a 5 star rating but it's really a ten! Happy reading.

I love the characters especially Jah with his crazy, smart ass, loud mouth. He gives it to you straight with no chase. Jazmin I love her, but she has to wake up and leave Sean along. Sean is a dog, a womanizer and a jackass. This is a must read and it will leave you with your mouth hanging wide open!! Awesome Read!!

Sharing the Real Stories Toward and Into Motherhood By April Diaz Last Fall I was asked by my buddy, Amy Kim, to review her upcoming book, Expecting the Unexpected: An Honest Look at Miscarriage, Postpartum Depression & Motherhood. I eagerly agreed. I read through the manuscript in one sitting - on a flight and in an airport. I gobbled up her words through stifled chuckles on the plane and wiped away tears in an airport terminal.For years Amy and I shared parallel journeys. I struggled through the darkness of infertility and Amy braved the depths of a miscarriage and postpartum depression.As ambitious career women and adoring wives I don't think we both anticipated the journey toward or into motherhood being so difficult. So many of the public stories told are of positive pregnancy tests, growing baby bumps, and sweet smelling babies who breast-feed without an issue.That wasn't either of our experience. Over the years I watched Amy's journey in real life and online as she bravely, publicly, and appropriately shared her stories at the right times.Amy was authentic and courageous in her own pain. And she was committed to getting through it, not stuck in it. I remember going to a book reading and signing of Cold Tangerines, written my old friend, Shauna Niequist. That was over 4 years ago. Amy was in the middle of a searing loss and I was smack dab in the center of a seemingly never-ending adoption process. We'd both read Shauna's book and it spoke deeply to us both. We needed that night together.Fast forward all these years later. We have 5 kids between our two families and it looks so "happily ever after". But sometimes the end of the story isn't as good as the middle part. The middle part is the part that breaks us down, strengthens us, transforms us, and shapes us into the people (not just mothers) we need to be. That's what Amy and my journey into motherhood did - and is DOING - for both of us.I know this book will be a gift to the women who's journey into motherhood isn't all fairytales and roses. A perfect mix of humor and honesty By Lisa Stencil I loved that this book was from such a real perspective and didn't sugar coat anything about motherhood! The struggle of "mommy guilt" and the constant competition with other mothers is hard enough without adding PPD on top of it! It's so refreshing to read someone else has struggled with all the same thoughts and feelings as I have, and has come through it battle weary but with humor intact! I highly recommend this book to any new mom who is wondering if there is something wrong with them because they don't feel like motherhood fits like a glove immediately! This book is a testament to the fact that it really does get better!

Amy has an ability to articulate the joys and pains of motherhood as it is, without any fluff! I found myself laughing out loud one second and moved to tears the next second. I loved this book and would recommend it to any mom (whether or not has experienced a miscarriage or ppd).

Because: the hero is a MMA fighter, white and adopted by black woman (together with his 2 brothers, so there will be sequels) and he returns to town to help his momma run her beauty shop after she falls ill. En passant he’ll try to fix the relationship with his ex-girlfriend and maybe even get a second chance to love. What’s not to love? Sadly though, I ended up merely liking it.The no’s- The H/h were not as like-able as they could have been. The hero Gunnar was quite ok, Eboni though, she was quite annoying.- The plot was larded with unbelievabilities, like hero claims to love his momma dearly but never visits home after moving to Vegas to pursue his dream of being a champion. It’s not that he couldn’t afford to visit or even send for his mother: he did become a champion so it couldn’t have been because he had money issues.- Unnecessary drama and overused tropes, like hero and heroine break up after college because of lack of communication.The yesses:- The momma: Queen Elisabeth. Her character was the glue that kept the story together- The secondary characters were a hoot- A white straight man, who is a MMA fighter AND can do black hair like nobody’s business. Yup, that happened. I loved the hair scene in the bathroom between Gunnar and Eboni.- The story was well paced and sometimes quite funny especially the hairdressing shop scenes. Even though I had a perpetual sense of Beauty Shop (y’all remember that movie with Queen Latifah?) déjà vu while reading those.Overall, I liked it well enough. But I wanted to love it, so no more than 3 stars.

Most characters were well drawn and acted in believable ways; however, Ebonics was way over the top sometimes. The reading was easy, but I wasn't pleased with the vulgar language. It made the experience so much less than it should have been.

Morgan I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.The Look of Love is a story about a white man (and his brothers) being adopted by a black woman in Virginia. She runs a series of businesses and each brother grows up with a talent for each of the businesses. They all become sports stars, but are all called home when their mother becomes ill. This book is the first in a series and is Gunnar's (the oldest brother) story. Gunnar is an MMA champion and comes home first to see to his mother's Beauty Shop. He runs into former flame, Eboni, and they both soon realize that ten years apart wasn't enough to get rid of their feelings for each other. Gunnar and Eboni have to determine if what they had can work again or if it's safer to just stay apart.This book had a lot of potential going in. I was excited to read it. It had a lot of my favorite book elements. A sports star going back home to a long lost love. An interracial romance. But the story didn't quite meet the mark.What I liked: I liked the premise of the book. I liked the side characters. The other hair dressers were pretty hilarious and really added to the story. I loved Gunnar's brother, Gideon. I'm very interested in his story.What I didn't really love: Eboni. I didn't exactly love Gunnar all that much either, but I did like him better than I liked Eboni. I think for most of the book, Eboni didn't really like herself all that much, so it was hard for me as a reader to like her. Gunnar just seemed kind of unreal. It was hard to picture him doing the things he did in the book. The writing was kind of awkward at first, but it seemed to smooth out later on in the book. Parts of the book seemed too unbelievable and as I read them, I spent more time thinking "that could never happen" than focusing on the plot. Other parts were pretty predictable. Pretty much everything that happened, you could accurately guess on the outcome. There was never an "I didn't see that coming" moment.Overall, the book was a quick, fun read. It'll be interesting to meeting Gunnar's brothers in upcoming books.
