Explosive Action By Deana This may be a short story, but it packs a powerful punch that leaves you breathless in anticipation of what is to come next. We are introduced to Declan McIver in a fast paced explosive read. Declan is asked or shall we say pushed strongly into a mission that will have him reunited with his ex -girlfriend. The mission is to travel to a small Caribbean island and stop a bombing on the Queen's birthday. Declan has been expertly trained to handle dangerous and under the radar missions. But what will happen when he meets up with his ex-girlfriend?The author's writing style flows with a precise direction. He gives readers a little history of the IRA and the Struggles time period in Northern Ireland in a brilliantly fluent knowledge that intrigues you. Declan is a man to be reckoned with as he heads full force into the dangers that he encounters. This is a story of high caliber writing with intense scenes that will play out with a volatile and energy filled excitement of intrigue at its best. The author has given us a character that we will want to follow with eagerness .

What a talent. In this short story, and the following, Honorable Deeds, we get to know Declan McIver's early years, in America, and how he came to be there. His early years in Ireland lead to his being trained by Russian Spetsnaz, giving Declan the edge he needs for personal defense. After a stint with the Mossad, Declan found himself on his way to a new life in America. Hooking up with some below the radar characters, Declan quickly learns that hanging with shady types puts him back in danger. These two short stories combined will make a great intro to our former, "Black Shuck," operative, Declan McIver. As always, happy reading.

It introduces us to a man named Declan McIver, who right away grabs your attention and leaves you wondering about his past. As the story progresses Mr. Graham gives us little hints of a past full of action, intrigue, heartbreak and mystery. Ian Graham lures you in with his smooth, smart writing and then he springs his trap and gives us just enough to hurry to the next page. The story is also a lot of fun bc of its pace. This author doesn't play games and just like McIver he gets going fast. If this is your first book in the Black Schuck series I guarantee you will eagerly be back for more, as this is the first in the McIver series timeline.

See By blackcat A Man's Man challenges both the protagonist and the reader to like him. See, he's angry, confused, feeling abandoned and alone after his straight mother dies, and he's forced to leave the West Coast to live on a rural Minnesota farm with his dad...and his dad's partner. R.J. lashes out at everyone, especially his dad because he's scared, scared he's gay, scared people will find out his dad's gay, and scared about not fitting in. When R.J.'s acting out implicates his coach in a community scandal, he must come to grips with his own destructive impulses and accept the damage and unhappiness he's caused. A true coming of age book, A Man's Man is rife with the teenage angst classic to the late middle school and high school years.

I guess I would say that Sebastian did an excellent job at provoking me By avid reader A Man's Man by Genta Sebastian4 stars M/M coming of ageI was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.I had a difficult time liking this book. I gave it 4 stars because it was well written, but I think I had a hard time with this story because of how much prejudice was inserted. I get the coming of age concept and that RJ had to fight through his insecurities, but it was the malicious intent throughout this book that I had a hard time with.I guess I would say that Sebastian did an excellent job at provoking me. I enjoyed Jessica and her mom immensely and they were what held this book together for me.I wish that I would have been able to read the dialogue between Stephen and Robert - I felt that not having their conversation was a huge hole in the story.Overall, this was a good story of someone coming of age - working through their own prejudices.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. To Like or not to like? By Judy Comella After reading Genta's Debit Book Riding the Rainbow I was surprised at the content of this book. At first I did not like the book as it deals with a young man and his total and complete disgust with his Father for being Gay. In an attempt to change his Father or "cure him" he caries out a plan that completely back-fires on everyone including himself. After reading the entire book I changed my mind about the book and gave it 4 stars. The only reason for 4 not 5 is that I still believe her Debit Book Riding The Rainbow is the best book of her's I have read. For all young adults suffering with the problems of understanding Adult relationships I believe this is a MUST Read. If you know someone in this situation this would make a great gift.

On that note, the ending came off as cheap and kind of rushed from a story point of view but the art was amazing. Do to the absolute brilliance of the series on a whole, I refuse to deduct a star even though the writting suffered in the end, because the art did not. In gact some of the best art of the entire series is in this volume.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Does a great job of wrapping up the Skullkickers story in a entertaining and creative way! By Karissa Eckert This is the final Skullkickers Treasure Trove volume and wraps up the Skullkickers series. It was very well done and incredibly hilarious. The book starts out with some Prequel issues that show some fun history of each of the characters. Then it moves into A Dozen Cousins and a Crumpled Crown which have our heroes trying to rescue the original Rolf and also facing off with some big stone golem type creatures. Oh yeah and this story involves a lot of dwarves and yet another incarnation of our Rolf and Rex fighting duo (there are three different sets of them now). Then we head into some Tavern Tales through Time where we see other Rolfs and Rexs in other times and settings. After that the main story continues in Infinite Icons of the Endless Epic. In this story the wonderfully evil and time-confused Thool is back. It’s up to our heroes to save the worlds from complete collapse. This part of the book gets hilariously silly while still managing to make a statement about heroic stereotypes. The whole story was very clever, silly, and ironic. I ended up enjoying this book a lot more than any of the previous Treasure Troves because of how everything came together; it was just very well done. The illustration is a bit more cartoony than I typically enjoy, but I do like the coloring and I enjoyed some of the illustration styles of the Tavern Tales quite a lot. It’s solid illustration throughout and overall well done.Overall this was a fantastic conclusion to the Skullkickers series. I enjoyed it a lot. Everything comes together in a big way and the book was very entertaining and funny. I would recommend to those who enjoy fantasy graphic novels that are very tongue in cheek.

The art is amazing, the coloring is glorious, and the lettering is top-notch. This is a comic I am sad to see end, but I have appreciated the ride. Definitely recommend checking out the whole series as well as the other work by Jim Zub and the team.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great art, but a confusing story if you start here. Read the preceding volumes. By Wayne A McCoy 'Casanova: Acedia Vol. 1' by Matt Fraction with a backup story by Michael Chabon and art by Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba is a gorgeous looking graphic novel. I was a bit lost for a good part of it, and I didn't realize that this character has been around before.Quentin Cassaday (aka Casanova Quinn) wakes up with no memory of who he seems to be. He works for an interesting guy, and has a cool chauffers hat. That's about all he knows. He soon finds out that someone is trying to kill him, and that strange occult symbols are showing up everywhere. This leads Quentin to a street magician who may know about what is going on. Things go from weird to weirder. The backup feature 'The Metanauts' fits in, but the whole thing left me a bit off-balance. This is probably because I haven't read the first two volumes in the series. The proposed series will have volumes named after the seven deadly sins. Acedia is Latin for sloth. Perhaps if I'd looked that up before reading it, the story might have made a bit more sense. Nonetheless, there is something good happening here, including some knockout art. Just do yourself a favor and start from the beginning.I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Diamond Book Distributors, Image Comics, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

A tale of two amnesiacs By PaulAllard Quentin Cassaday aka Casanova Quinn works for Amiel Boutique, another man whose has lost the memory of his past. Strange “people” called Fabula have the answers as does Sasa Lisi who may be Amiel’s daughter. There seems to be a large amount of organisations with acronyms: N.E.T.W.O.R.K, E.M.P.I.R.E., A.C.A.D.E.M.Y., etc.., the majority of which appear in the comic-within-a-comic, the Metanauts.Quite confusing in places (especially with unexplained flashbacks), it is quite engaging; some sex and violence. I prefer my comics more straight-forward

Covers Superwoman's backstory and Supergirl's attempt to live a "normal life" as Lana Lang's neice Linda at a time when Earth people are paranoid about Kryptonians. Supergirl has a crisis in which two of her friends are in danger, Inspector Henderson from the Silver Banshee and Lana from a mysterious, deadly illness. Can Kara save her friends? What will she do if she is too late to save one of them?

García This graphic novel does a great job at examining the life of Supergirl behind the shadow of Superman. There are many themes present that just about any person in the world can relate to with the problem's Supergirl faces. Originally I bought the novel to write an 8 page paper critiquing the novel with feminist theory, yet it turned out to be one of the best comics I have ever bought.

Okay-ish By Cilantron 1 of 2 Collects Supergirl Annual # 1 (2009)(Sterling Gates)Supergirl (vol. 5) # 48-50 (Gates, with Jake Black & Helen Slater)Annual (Story 1): The story so far: Kryptonians are unpopular on Earth and most of them have relocated to New Krypton. In Superman: Codename Patriot Superman and Supergirl returned to Earth to capture the Kryptonian assassin. I haven't read Supergirl: Friends and Fugitives yet, but I assume that book explained why Supergirl decided to stay on Earth. Here, she's living with Lana Lang and she tries to take care of a bank robbery while in her Linda Lang disguise. Unfortunately, she's not the only Kryptonian there.(Story 2): We learn the history of Superwoman, who won't stay dead.Supergirl 48: The Silver Banshee is seeking seven magical family heirlooms.Supergirl 49: Pt. 2 of the Silver Banshee story. Lana enters a cocoon...Supergirl 50 (Story 1): ...and emerges as Insect Queen.(Story 2): (Jake Black & Helen Slater): A six-page televised debate about Supergirl by Ron Troupe and Cat Grant. This book is pretty good, but I can't quite give it 4 stars. It's not very important to the larger New Krypton story, unless you're interested in Superwoman. At the end of this, Supergirl decides to return to New Krypton.

In Lady Chatterley's Lover, Lawrence argues for individual regeneration, which can be found only through the relationship between man and woman (and, he asserts sometimes, man and man). Love and personal relationships are the threads that bind this novel together. Lawrence explores a wide range of different types of relationships. The reader sees the brutal, bullying relationship between Mellors and his wife Bertha, who punishes him by preventing his pleasure. There is Tommy Dukes, who has no relationship because he cannot find a woman who he respects intellectually and at the same time finds desirable. There is also the perverse, maternal relationship that ultimately develops between Clifford and Mrs. Bolton after Connie has left. Masterfully written, one of the most important novels of all time. This in the original unexpurgated edition.

Rochester I read this book back in the 60s and enjoyed then, forgot about it over the years, read it again and enjoyed it again. Just think, back then it was considered to be very raunchy. Compare to now,ha,it was very tame.

"Did you hear how dirty hit was" sort of stuff. Then I read an article on early twentieth century literature that mentioned how the book had been banned across Europe. I found it for 99 cents on Amazon and downloaded it for a casual read. What I found was an incredibly complex book of a young woman of the lower English nobility trapped with a crippled husband, a moldering estate, the social ad moral standards of post WWI and her passion to find her way out of this entrapment. To initial surprise and subsequent enjoyment there were no raw sex scenes in the book. Yes, there were graphic depictions of her and her multiple paramours but only in the context of her search for reality and resolution of her life. The overall tone of the book is an continuous description of her search for not happiness, but clarity in her life. It is told overwhelmingly from the female perspective and almost makes me want to believe that DH Lawrence was really a pen name for a female writer,Read it slowly and the pain and hope that is Lady Chatterly.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. it was like some of it was missing By M.B. With this specific version of the book, I noticed a couple of places where there was apparently missing some narrative. A sentence seemed to completely change topic without finishing, it was like some of it was missing, starting in the middle of a sentence. It was really weird. But honestly I don't think I missed anything important. It was an okay book. It was kind of sad, in my opinion. Very interesting though, the juxtaposition of those who live mentally/the intellectuals/the upper class with the physical/primal/uneducated/lower class. It wasn't too long of a read either. I think it's definitely a good book to read at some point in your lifetime but it's not a suspenseful book you won't be able to put down.

I thought the artwork on the cover was pretty cool, but the comic's artwork was okay, sometimes it was hard to see what is going on during the battle scenes. When I looked through the comic the second time, the battle scenes were really cool. I liked how when the main characters armored up the armor seems to grow on top of them. I'm excited to see who this new villain is and what he wants with the Xenton.

The Mikkelson kids, whose parents both went to college, are fortunate enough to be granted higher education. But no one realizes it can be dangerous, and not all of the kids want it. For Line, Marty and Paul, a crack in their cohesive world opens in the early 1960’s, the exploration of which takes them further afield than anyone suspected. For Line, becoming an exchange student to a black women’s college in Atlanta is the first step to understanding problems she couldn’t imagine in her homogeneous world. Marty revels in art, history and literature, but someone’s innocent religious question frees her intellectually. Paul’s legs are misshapen following reconstructive surgeries after polio, but a canoe and a guitar help unspool his particular talents. It is said that education makes one fit company for oneself. This is true for the Mikkelsons as they try to align innate gifts with what the world needs.

Beautiful writing, and "fit company" for the reader By Helen Frost The second in the series of a fictionalized memoir of the Mikkelson family, this volume takes us into the adolescence of the older children and introduces the younger siblings. As each character takes center stage, the story is moved forward, not through page-turning dramatic events, but because we come to care about each character, and grow interested in how the family moves together through the challenges they face. Beautiful writing, and "fit company" for the reader.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Do not pass this book up By Reading In Da Rain I LOVED THIS BOOKI LOVED THIS BOOK!!! My goodness! So let's start off with Keice. Messing around with your best friend brother and never telling her about it is a no no. Although I do love hers and Jessica's friendship I hope she tells her the truth before Rocky decides to do it for her. And to fall in love with such an douche. Come on girl. Bad boys are not always the best boys.Jessica- So she started off with a bang and for that I was stuck on her, but when she went back to Rasheed after he beat her up I was like NOOOO! No way can she be that stupid, but when she got her tail beat again it all became clear that she was. When Desmond cleaned her cuts up I only hoped he was what she needed in life. And it seems like he is. She cleaned up her act, started loving her job and left Rasheed in the dust. props to you girl. And my heart melted when she said she wanted to take custody of some kids she doesn't even know and raise them. they deserved that. one thing i didn't like is that when the girl first told her she was being touched they should have been removed from the home right then and there and not allowed back in so he could do it again. that sick bastard. I hope that "mother" of the children gets what she deserves. ugh females who have children and don't take care of them really leave a bad taste in my mouth.Hennessey- Now when I read his name I was like no dang way his mother did not name him this, but as I kept reading his name stuck to me. I love his relationship with Keice when he learns to keep his d!ck in his pants. I can't believe he banged Stacy in the office. let alone when back and banged her cousin. If I was Keice the first time she spoke out of line to me as a manager i would have sent her home, next would have been fired. keeping a hoe around is bad for business. I loved the fact that he changed his life around after he got out of prison. he realized that wasn't a place for him to be and started his own business and was doing pretty damn good for himself. proud of that.Desmond-Now starting off I liked Desmond. I was rooting for him to be just like his cousin and turn his life around, but when he let his punk a$$ brother talk him into some easy money I was over him. Like it shouldn't have even been an issue he should have just told him no from the jump and none that s*** would have went down. i hope he doesn't keep doing stupid stuff that gets his son caught in the cross fires.Ken- When he was first introduce i knew he was nothing, but a snake in the grass. I knew he was trouble and his involvement in the story only confirmed it. I get that you're jealous Hen had it all and you had to work harder for yours, but to take it to this extreme is just bananas, Kidnapping people, rape, burning down houses. come on Ken. you had it coming to you after you did what you did to Jessica. sorry about what happened to his family, but you can't go around thinking you're untouchable.Johnazia is just a beast when it comes to writing and I have loved everything I have read from her so far. Jump into this book and enjoy this 5 star banger.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A great read By Kia Storyline was great. Keice and Jessica try to have a fun night but Jessica boyfriend rasheed ruins it. Keice tired of jessica going back to rasheed gives it to her straight. Jessica blinded by love is dumb but after rasheed beats her and people records it she finally lets him go. Keice and Hennessey meet up after he helped whoop rasheed and they click. Hennessey is not your typical dude he has businesses and goals but his cousin Desmond tries to bring him down. Desmond is all about money so when he's a brother Ken offers him an opportunity this smuggling drugs for him he takes it. Jessica job is hard especially when she gets attached to 3 kids she reporting on. Hennessey and keice are working together in his stores but she has to put us jump offs in their place first.Jessica and Desmond try to kindle some flames. Desmond starts a war between Ken and Hennessey and Jessica becomes a causality. Hennessey has bigger problems when he sleeps with two cousins and they both pregnant but it may be too late when drama is brought to front door.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. It was okay. By Amazon Customer This book was just okay for me. The storyline was okay and I think the writing was kind of weak. Some authors have gotten caught up in just telling us what happened versus focusing on the real art of storytelling. There were moments in the story that were kind of slow... It didn't get "juicy" until the end. I will be reading part 2 just to see what happens.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Even better than book one By cdb8128 I thoroughly enjoyed this book in the series. It had me questioning what I thought and felt. I love the new characters and how things appear to be tying together. I am very anxious for the next book. I hope it is much longer. I do feel this book was too short for the price. It is a very intriguing storyline with interesting characters. Book one and book two really should have been combined into one book. I hope the next book is twice as long so that it warrants the price tag. I also would like to know how many books are planned in the series.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Nice addition, but as always, only a novella in content. By Giles Swatos I love the series. I check regularly for updates to see if a new volume has been issued. And it's a good addition to the series, progressing us further down the plot. However, I just can't be happy with the volume; ie the size of the work. The story doesn't truly begin until 8% in - starting with the preface and history to catch people up-to-date with the story and plot, and it ends at 89%, with the bio-blurb and discussion of the authors additional work. I don't mind that this information is provided, but fluff shouldn't represent 15% of the work-product. Really, it shouldn't. Additionally, the preface actually gives much of the story away in providing the background. The page count, according to Amazon, was 193 pages... simply shameful. A novel, even a filler edition in a series, should be at least 300 pages of content. A novella is about 200 pages of content. It looks like all but the first volume have been under 200 pages - that is, all of the volumes have been too short by half. This should have continued on for another 3-400 pages. Its a great series and deserves the depth that I know the author can produce. I do look forward to the next edition, but hope there will be more to it.

Grammatical errors, spelling, word usage, and typos continue to plague these books. In addition, the books are too short to be called novels!

Bryant demonstrates surmountable strength and courage in her book "Where There's a Will There's a Way". As each page turns, she opens her soul into an open book of the struggles she endured from childhood to current day adulthood. Her descriptions hit home for me as I am a survivor of domestic violence too. My emotions took over as I identified with so much of what she experienced and also much of her rationale. I understand her!Tre' L. Bryant has come full circle at not only having the courage to share the once shameful secrets she carried in silence, but now shares and places a tool of inspiration for all survivors to identify with. Her book helps validate that I am NOT alone and that the struggle to get out is real. May her strength uplift all of those out of the dark pit of despair and into the light of hope! Many blessings of love, success, and new inspiration Tre' L. Bryant as you inspire so many others!Debbie L. Stambaugh

In this entrancing poetry collection, Susan Frybort reminds us of the glory that resides at the heart of everyday living. With poems that read like sacred correspondence between our hearts and our essence, we are called to remember the wonderment of life's ever changing tide. Whether it be in the call of a mourning dove, a contemplative shore, or a field of golden wild grass, the reader is left with no choice but to embrace hope in a transitory world.Written with a depth of insight and compassion seldom seen, this is the rarest of first collections. Love and nature poems coalesce like a reverential hymn to the beloved: the beloved at the heart of every breath, the beloved that calls to us as wind, the beloved that resides on the bridge between our hearts. Through Frybort's eyes, there is profound significance in all things perceived small. Absolutely everything is the beloved. Hope is a Traveler is a homage to the miracle of true being. Endorsements:"These are beautiful, holy, wise and inspired poems by a soul that has suffered deeply and rejoiced deeply. Buy and savor this book!"  ~ANDREW HARVEY, author of The Hope, Radical Passion."With a penetrating eye and in a tender, intimate voice, Susan Frybort illuminates in these poems the gossamer beauty of our everyday life.' ~ROGER HOUSDEN, author of Ten Poems to Change Your Life. "These poems by Susan Frybort are personal reflections on the nature of spirit and the ways in which objective reality and spiritual awareness intersect. Frybort writes attentively and with a sense of gratitude and reverence. There is much thoughtfulness and a gentle intelligence in these poems that lead readers through a portal of hope toward deeper understanding of self and spirit." ~ADELE KENNY, Poetry Editor, Tiferet Journal"In this wonderful book, Susan Frybort displays the uncovering of the heart. She reminds us of the heart's healing potential, while exploring what might hold the mind at bay. She unearths the root of that which keeps our happiness entranced with a longing for fulfillment. And she does it all with such grace and loving kindness. We really enjoyed her beautiful poems, and felt her heart within ours." ~STEPHEN AND ONDREA LEVINE, coauthors of Embracing the Beloved, Who Dies?, The Healing I Took Birth For."A ticket to wonder. Hope Is A Traveler invites the reader to climb aboard a caravan of love as it meanders through moments of loss and infinite joy in the life of its author. Daring to bare the innermost core of her pain, as well as the exalted way of human interaction and Spirit guidance, Susan Frybort's words, in my mind, sit in harmony with her historical poetic compatriots of Rumi, Hafiz and Gibran. Her experiences are both unique and universal and the reader can immerse in the Divinely Human and Humanly Divine nature of her soul spilling over onto what she calls 'the heart road.' Travel well." ~EDIE WEINSTEIN, author of The Bliss Mistress Guide To Transforming The Ordinary Into The Extraordinary."Susan Frybort's work is true poetry. She skillfully conveys central human concerns with apparent ease: love, pain, suffering, hope, empathy, and all the other truths, feelings and emotions that make life worth living. More, her words are imbued with a special potency that allow her readers to feel feelings and experience experiences that they might otherwise not be privy to. Few poets can work this magic, but she does, easily, effectively. To experience this phenomenon, one has to actually read her work. All of her work has an intense spiritual dimension, speaking to parts of the soul that are dying to hear her message."  ~STEVEN J.ROSEN, author of Hidden Glory of India, The Yoga of Kirtan."Opening, soothing, nourishing, lightening.  This is a book to keep close to your heart! It will open you to the re-membering that brings us home." ~MARY O'MALLEY, author of What's in the Way IS the Way

Review These are beautiful holy wise and inspired poems by a soul that has suffered deeply and rejoiced deeply. Buy and savor this book. --ANDREW HARVEY, author of The Hope, Radical Passion, A journey in Ladakh. With a penetrating eye and in a tender, intimate voice, Susan Frybort illuminates in these poems the gossamer beauty of our everyday life. --ROGER HOUSDEN, author of Ten Poems to Change Your Life, For Lovers of God Everywhere.Reading this collection of poems, I saw so much of my own life s journey mirrored in their beautifully crafted words. The years of dissatisfaction with myself, even at times self-hatred, learned from a society that doesn t let us simply be just the way we find ourselves but always wants us to be somehow different it s all so poignantly reflected here. My decades in religion, then later spirituality, all of them an attempt to address my perceived inadequacy my days of stormy, darkened clouds, watering down and dampening my dreams, as I fought the fight my upbringing taught me against living like a cornflower somewhere in a morning field, far away from here singing out to the sky s vermillion sunrise, with not a care in the world. Until, at last, I began to awaken to the central insight of these poems, that my humanness isn t something to be endlessly apologized for, but that God s divinity and my humanness are the same. You ll want to read slowly, to ponder, to simply sit with the rich metaphors, the deep insights, the heartfelt wonder these images evoke --DAVID ROBERT ORD, author of Your Forgotten Self, coauthor of The Coming Interspiritual Age, and author and narrator of the audiobook Lessons in Loving A Journey into the Heart.

Frakes Not being a poet myself, it is hard to put into words how beautiful and heart felt each and every one of the poems in this book are. You feel every word written. I purchased a second book to give as a gift and plan to get more for gifts, as this is a book I want to share with family and friends.

This is a glimpse into the depths of a strong yet vulnerable woman who dares to plumb her depths and bring it forth to share. Her powerful images and surging emotions blow away the cobwebs of unconsciousness demanding we become sensual explorers with her through this wonder of life.
