By Sinfully I have been reading Lynn Kelling’s books for three years now, and of all the authors I have read in the dark erotic, BDSM, M/M genre, Lynn is the one that excites me the most. The reason being; the growth and development in her writing that I have experienced as a reader. How with each new book she publishes, the depth of emotion she evokes has evolved, and my connection to her stories intensified. She just get’s better and better… With Learning from the Master being the latest addition to that list.I don’t know what Lynn Kelling was on when she wrote this novella, chocolate, wine, coffee or maybe some kind of aphrodisiac, ‘cause holy hotness, I might need to ship it out to her in crates because I want more! This book is HOT as frickin hell, but not in your face porny hot or sugary kink, it’s classy BDSM, a powerful, yet subtle seduction, with erotic undertones that create an air of sexual tension that literally had me tingling all over! I’m not kidding… I was tingling! If you have read Lynn Kelling’s Bound by Lies, you will already be familiar with Jenner and if you are anything like me, totally lusted after the tall, dark, handsome and intimidating Dom. However in Learning from the Master we see a very different young man.At eighteen, Jenner is the ‘Golden Boy’ the popular, good looking football star, tall, built and definitely not someone to be messed with. But Jenner is also gay, not something he want’s to shout about in a small town, especially with the aforementioned reputation. So meeting likeminded men is not an easy proposition for this horny teenager. His dilemma leads him him to Manse, an invitation only club. One of the few that he can actually get into at eighteen… and Oh boy! Are his eyes opened to a whole new world he didn’t know existed.Remember that tingling? Well, enter: David Davenport, billionaire owner of the BDSM Club, Manse. I read a lot of BDSM Novels, as you know, and whilst an author can make it hot and sexy, there are very few that manage to capture the true essence of power and presence in a Dom, with the kind of intensity that leaves you breathless. Lynn Kelling is truly remarkable at getting that right. In my eyes, David Davenport is the unadulterated epitome of a Dom… and he does it so effortlessly, with such style and charisma, all enhanced by his understanding and compassion… I think I’m a little in love! …And definitely, as enthralled, by his sheer magnetism as Jenner, who was totally tongue tied and out of his element… bless, he is only eighteen. But David is intuitive and see’s the potential/want/need in Jenner to embrace the lifestyle. His sincerity and air of calm soothed Jenner’s obvious inner turmoil because at Manse there is no place for insecurities or inhibitions and Jenner had finally found a place where he belonged. This novella is the prequel to the already published Bound by Lies, which was a five star read for me and gives us a glimpse at Jenner’s introduction into the lifestyle and the two people that were instrumental in guiding him: David and Shea. David and Shea’s story is the next book due for publication in this series… And I have to tell you, after reading this, I can’t wait!!! Because, there was a moment in this book when it finally hits Jenner what it is to be a true Dom, that actually made my eyes sting… it was so heartfelt. So honest. So beautiful. I love David and Shea already and I haven’t even read their story yet! This is an excellent example of Lynn Kelling’s brilliant writing and I urge you to read it and sample it for yourselves, so you too can get drawn into this fabulous series and the worlds in which they all connect.

I love reading these short stories because I feel like I’m being told a secret about the character that I didn’t know prior.Jenner is used to being in control of his life but the minute he walks through the doors at Manse, a gay nightclub, he knows immediately he is out of his element. When David, the owner of the club, sits down beside Jenner scoping him out, he instantly has a case of butterflies.Jenner goes to the club mainly looking for sex. What he finds is so much more than he ever expected. David takes control of Jenner immediately and focuses all his attention on giving Jenner every type of pleasure he can imagine.Manse is a BDSM club so it’s not long until David is mastering Jenner. He wants to show him what being a master and sub are about and train him so that he can one day have his own sub.Shea is David’s sub and he arranges for the two to meet and form a connection. His goal is to show Jenner how special and precious having a sub is and how to appreciate them to the fullest. This is a short story so everything happens pretty quickly. Lynn does a great job of putting a lot of detail and information into the story so that you get the full experience of what is happening.Even though it is short the author doesn’t cut corners on the importance of safety and rules within the BDSM world. David is always very conscientious of what is going on and making sure Jenner is okay with the training. This is a great introduction into how Jenner gets his start of being a Master. Lynn is a great storyteller and one of the best when it comes to BDSM. Every story I’ve read by her always has my full attention and I quickly become enthralled in the storyline. Whether it’s a novella or a full novel Lynn tells the story brilliantly. You definitely want to read this if you have read Bound by Lies and if you haven’t I would encourage you to read both. If you like BDSM in your stories, Lynn Kelling is the author to read.

This is a prequel to Bound by Lies and the Jenner we meet here is very different.Outwardly he has it all. A good looking guy who is popular with his peers and is set to inherit his family business.Inwardly he is a mess. Afraid to admit to who he is sexually attracted to he is lonely and stifled by his fear.Until he swings an invitation to an exclusive party at a gay club which caters to all tastes. Jenner’s fear is palpable and he has just about enough courage to walk through the door without running for the hills. It doesn’t matter that every man in the place is gay and looking for the same things Jenner is – his fear of being outed or recognised rules his life. When David, the owner of the club, approaches Jenner he may be the only man there with the charisma, charm and gentle patience to persuade Jenner to stay and explore his options. Once the decision to stay has been made things hot up!Jenner is introduced to the world of BDSM and he may well just have found his niche in life. I think even David is surprised as Jenner proves to be stronger than he first thought and is very sure of the role he wants to take and under David’s careful guidance Jenner flourishes. There is the usual Lynn Kelling heat within the pages and as always at the end you are left yearning for more. I am very much looking forward to reading more about David and Shea.
