My favorite was Deadly Beauties, while my least favorite was Crush. As a whole, I liked the collection. I felt that they fit well together. Of course, they are all about vampires and the supernatural in general. However, I feel like it was more than that; the overall tone of each story worked with one another. There are definitely some cliff hangers, which may make you want to buy some more of the books. While this was surely intentional, keep that tidbit in mind. I, for one, will be getting a few more myself. I feel like I absolutely must find out what happens next, especially with the book Victoria. On a final note, some of the tales are on the "risque" side. The series is not exactly for young audiences. It's not too bad, in my opinion, but that is up to you to decide.Overall, it is a great way to introduce yourself to some new authors!

So I have definitely read a lot, to the point where so many of them start to sound the same. So it was refreshing to read a storyline that was different. I am definitely interested in seeing where the author takes it from here.Deadly Beauties: HUGE C.M. Owens fan. ALL of here books cause me to literally not be able to put them down until I finish the book. This book has everything that keeps you hanging on and wanting more. Not a fan of cliffhangers, but again from previous books of hers I’ve read I know I won’t be disappointed when reading the next one.Crush: Yea…I don’t know what to say. I just didn’t like it. So many inconsistencies throughout the book in the storyline. Like in one part somebody kicks the door off the hinges, yet in the next they lock the same door? It really was confusing. There were also so many cringe worthy clichés. This was the only book in this collection that I didn’t enjoy. Or would go on to purchase the next if this is a series.Blood and Wings: A bit confusing at first. I wasn’t sure which century this was taking place in until a couple chapters in. But even once it was clarified the female character seemed older than what she was for the century it was taking place in. Still curious to see what happens next though. Not so sure I’d be curious enough to pay for it. Maybe if it was offered on Kindle Unlimited.Venom: Another one I am curious to see what happens next. Can’t really say much about it, other than it felt really short. I wouldn’t call it a book, maybe a short story. Or Part I. Like I said, not sure what to say for it ending so abruptly. Would probably go on with the next to see how it all plays out.Courage Runs Red: Yet another short story, or novella. Just when you start to get into the story, it ends. I don’t typically read short stories or bother with novellas. I like complete books that keep and hold your attention. But like the previous short story in this set, I don’t know if this was actually held my curiosity to want to see what happens in the next one.Blair (Daughters of Darkness): I enjoyed this, even though it was a novella. Most novellas are too short for me to even get into or hold my interest. But this one did. It had enough depth, characters, and storyline to make me want to see where this story goes.Victoria (Daughters of Darkness): Also enjoyed this one as well. I hope there are more to each of these stories. I also hope the authors collaborate more to get the information that ties each together accurate. From Blair to Victoria there were several inconsistencies that didn’t flow together. (Ex: Their father’s last name, the conversation between the two sisters that are featured in both books, etc). Still interesting enough to want to see how far their stories go and if they all connect in the end.I am rating this collection a 4 out of 5.**I received this collection for free for my honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own**

Good vampire story By A Jones Reviews I am a pretty big fan of the whole vampire genre (I enjoyed it long before twilight came around and depicted vampires in such a way that appealed to the younger audience). This is a great read for anyone who enjoys the suspenseful, sexy, mysterious vampire story. It is definitely a page turner type of book. I was able to easily download this only my kindle with no hassle. I received this at a discount in exchange for my honest review. I have quite enjoyed the series and look forward to more books from these authors

Sometimes, coming out as LGBT means needing to build bridges to family members who are having some trouble dealing with a reality they aren’t used to and may not have expected. This book can help with that, especially if there are kids involved. One of the things that makes the book unique is a set of interrelated characters that inhabit the comics (along with some animals). The continuity of characters gives a sense that there are real people in this community, with the same concerns everybody has. There’s a lot of cute and funny material, from chuckle to guffaw, and it’s utterly non-threatening. Overall, a very sweet offering, and I haven’t been able to find anything quite like it.

20 of 20 people found the following review helpful. A Jack Kirby Art Book By Stephen Vincent Kempton Your enjoyment of this book will depend on your love of Jack Kirby and your expectations of this book. What you won't get is any complete Kirby Comic stories, any never seen or never published art. Or even any real information on the life of man besides superficial information that most of us are already aware of.What you do get is a beautiful art book crammed with covers, splash pages and pin-ups done by Jack "The King " Kirby done for Marvel Comics during his three stays at Marvel. The book is done on High Quality glossy paper stock . It is a beautiful Hard Cover done in the Landscape ( wider then tall ) 240 pages that all fit in a classy Heavy Duty slip case.In preparation for this review I did something that I expect few will do with this type of book. I read it cover to cover. The writing is by John Rhett Thomas who really does little except introduce each chapter and provide complete credits for every cover and splash page . Sometimes he also provides a sentence or two talking about the art or the importance of a story. The book is set up chronologically into six chapters. Chapter One is Jack Kirby and Joe Simon: Timely's Golden Age. This focuses on Captain America and The Vision, but does include many of the other great covers he did during this era.Chapter Two Monsters And Cowboys: Jack Kirby And The Atlas Era focuses on the time he became Stan Lee's main muse after the death of Joe Manleey in 1959. He did a few stories starting in 1956, but starting in 1959 through his departure in 1970 his production was phenomenal. This is the subject on my favorite chapter November 1961: The Month That Changed Marvel. This of course is the month that Jack illustrated the 25 page Fantastic Four #1 and it's cover. But here the focus is on that book and the twelve other stories and nine other covers he also did that month. Monsters, Superheroes, Westerns and Romances, all total 119 pages for that month alone. The next chapter is massive since it covers The Marvel Age: King Kirby. This is his superhero work from 1961 to 1970. Since it runs 150 pages each character gets his own sub-chapter. The Fantastic Four, Ant-Man /Giant-Man and The wasp, The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron-Man, Thor, The Avengers, Captain America, X-Men, Sgt. Fury, Nick Fury, Sub-Mariner, Silver Surfer, Ka-Zar, Inhumans and even Not Brand Echh.Chapter Six is The Return Of The King and deals with the three years when Jack returned after his DC Comics stay. Again we get sub-chapters with Captain America, The Eternals, Black Panther, Machine Man and Devil Dinosaur. I assume no copyright agreement could be reached so we are sadly missing any art for 2001.The final chapter is a very short reminiscence by Neal Kirby, his son. While this is entertaining it is very brief (four pages with illustrations) and might have just been included as an afterward rather then an entire chapter. We also get an Introduction by Joe Quesada. Plus sprinkled in through the volume are small sidebar stories from a multitude of Comic Creators. These include John Cassaday, Mark Bagley, Alan Weiss, Ryan Stegman, Michael Allred, Ramon K. Perez, Steve Rude, Dan Jurgens, Karl Kessel, Keith Giffen, Sal Buscema, Terry Austin, Nick Bradshaw, Klaus Janson, Rick Remember, Tom Scoli, Rich Buckler and Andy Lanning. These are very brief and talk about the time they met Kirby or what Kirby meant to them. The name quite obviously missing from the list above is one Stan Lee.If you want deep insight into the man this is not your book. But if you just want to look at a collection of beautiful art work then this comes Highly Recommended.

Blue Labyrinth (Agent Pendergast series), by Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Review "Sherlock Holmes fans will relish Preston and Child's 13th novel featuring eccentric FBI agent Aloysius Pendergast (after 2012's Two Graves), one of their best in this popular series...easily stands on its own with only passing references to Pendergast's complex backstory."―Publishers Weekly (starred review) on White Fire"Another highly entertaining and genuinely thrilling story from Preston & Child starring their romantic, faintly gothic, and always mysterious FBI agent, Aloysius Pendergast. As always the prose is elegant, replete with exquisite descriptions, and this time we're treated to dashes of historic characters Conan Doyle and Oscar Wilde, as well as a positively delicious serving of the great Sherlock Holmes. Through myriad shocks, surprises, twists and turns, the suspense never lets up. Great fun to the last page."―Anne Rice on White Fire"The best Pendergast book yet - a collision between past and present that will leave you breathless."―Lee Child on White Fire

About the Author The thrillers of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child "stand head and shoulders above their rivals" (Publishers Weekly). Preston and Child's Relic and The Cabinet of Curiosities were chosen by readers in a National Public Radio poll as being among the one hundred greatest thrillers ever written, and Relic was made into a number-one box office hit movie. They are coauthors of the famed Pendergast series and their recent novels include Fever Dream, Cold Vengeance, Two Graves, and Gideon's Corpse. In addition to his novels, Preston writes about archaeology for the New Yorker and Smithsonian magazines. Lincoln Child is a former book editor who has published five novels of his own, including the huge bestseller Deep Storm. Readers can sign up for The Pendergast File, a monthly "strangely entertaining note" from the authors, at their website, www.PrestonChild.com. By Bob Milne With their 14th entry in the Special Agent Pendergast saga, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child not only get their hero back to his prime, but they get the story back to basics. Blue Labyrinth is an extraordinarily strong entry in the series, and exactly what fans have been asking for, especially after last year's White Fire, in which Pendergast was just a supporting character. It's impossible to write a typical review of this without getting into serious spoiler territory, so I thought I'd do something different and offer up the top 5 reasons that fans need to read Blue Labyrinth:1. Pendergast is back - back at the forefront, back to his old ways, and back on top of his game. There's no question our hero has fallen on some hard times in recent books, but having spent much of the last book recuperating, he's once again the cunning man of thought and action that we've come to admire.2. Vincent, Margot, and the New York Museum of Natural History are back - in an awesome wink to the fans, Preston & Child not only bring back the heroes of Relic and Reliquary, but they take us back to where it all began. It's not just a cheap cameo or token appearance either. Both have a role to play, and they follow up on how Margot has coped with the memories and the fears.3. Pendergast is forced to be human - and he's as arrogant, irritable, and selfish as you'd expect. The cover blurb already tells you he's 'stricken in mind and body' so it's no spoiler to say he suffers a great deal in this book, but that means we get to see him lash out, express his emotions, and be honest with Constance about his feelings. The vulgar encounter over a Swiss parking ticket is worth the price of admission alone.4. We get more of the Pendergast family history - and it's a history that's just as dark and unsavory as contemporary experiences with Diogenes and Alban would lead us to expect. While it's been hinted at before, we finally learn the truth of precisely where Pendergast's wealth and artifacts originated. It's a dark family secret, with a legacy of pain and death that, almost a century later, has come back to haunt him.5. Constance gets to play the heroine - working alongside Margot in a frantic, desperate effort to save Pendergast's life. Constance has been something of a polarizing character since her first appearance, especially given how her eternal youth forces us so far beyond the willing suspension of disbelief, but she really gets a chance to shine here. I liked the way she was used in the story, and her scenes with an ailing Pendergast probably revealed more about him than we've ever seen before.Blue Labyrinth isn't the best Pendergast tale, but it is the best in a long time. The story is strong, there's some real danger/suspense, and the characters all get a chance to shine. Personally, the way it brought things full circle, especially in dealing with the fallout of the original museum adventures, put it way over the top. It's a fun, frantic, can't-put-down-read that will undoubtedly go over well with fans both casual and dedicated.

The dark secret of the Pendergast family (review of the entire novel) By TChris I have never been a fan of Pendergast although I usually enjoy the Pendergast novels. Pendergast is such a pretentious snob that I often find his literary company to be disagreeable. When, in Blue Labyrinth, Pendergast accuses others of being officious, I wonder if he owns a mirror. The better Pendergast novels, on the other hand, are carefully plotted, never dull, and feature absorbing mysteries. This is one of the better ones, although I probably liked it for a reason that will make fans of Pendergast despise it: Pendergast disappears from the action in the second half, allowing more likable characters to carry the novel to its conclusion. When Pendergast's dead son is deposited at his door, Pendergast feels no loss -- his son was "a sociopathic killer of the most dangerous type" -- but since the killers found his son when the FBI and CIA could not, Pendergast knows that his murderers are formidable. Why his son was killed, why there was a turquoise jewel in his son's stomach, and what message the killers meant to send by delivering the corpse to Pendergast are the mysteries that both Pendergast and the reader must solve.A second storyline involves a murder at the Museum of Natural History. The murder seems to be linked to a murder that occurred in the late nineteenth century but the connection baffles Detective Vincent D'Agosta. He's not happy when Pendergast provides five minutes of assistance and then disappears.About a third of the novel passes before the inevitable linkage of the two mysteries occurs. The mysteries force Pendergast to confront a dark secret in his ancestry. The motivation for the crimes turns out to be laughably implausible. Pendergast's ability to see the past televised in his mind while meditating is just silly. Some other aspects of the story also plummet off the edge of credibility but that's common in modern thrillers. Believable or not, they provide a foundation for the action that follows. The action scenes are a ridiculous but they are pure fun. All of the action leads to an even more ridiculous moment that could have been handled without so much predictable melodrama. The behind-the-scenes look at the Museum of Natural History is rich with detail, as are descriptions of the crime-controlled slums of Rio. The plot moves forward briskly. While I can't say I warmed up to Pendergast -- quite the opposite -- I enjoyed the story and got a kick out of the secondary characters.

I have been a fan of these guys since the very beginning but they lost their way some time ago. This book represents a step towards their once successful creativity but is still too pedantic. Once upon a time they had twists and turns, impossibly intricate deaths, fear inspiring villains, and only Pendergast could sort it all out, ultimately unmasking the bad guy and eliminating him. Their books were entertaining and an intellectual challenge. They tried to get back to some of that but this villain cannot compare to those of the past. What's with the irony of Pendergast's relative as the source of the misery? I had vowed to not read their new efforts but the early reviews indicated I should try this. No more....I think their time as an author pair has passed. More tragic than Pendergast's death would be.

A sick or injured child can disrupt the best of families. Parents are frequently so focused on the sick child that well siblings may feel abandoned. In spite of the love they feel for their sibling, a well child may be annoyed with all the attention their sick sibling receives. The well child may feel guilty about their anger or annoyance. Conflicting emotions can overwhelm the healthiest child. This book hopes to demonstrate to the healthy child that their feelings are normal, acceptable and guilt is not necessary. The book also hopes to alleviate any of the well child's feelings of alienation and loneliness by reassuring them of their parents love.

What About Me?: Well Children With Sick Siblings, by William G Bentrim

About the Author I am currently working hard to become an author, my 4th career. I owned and operated a computer networking company for 25 years. I was a school teacher and counselor with 10 years of experience in the public schools. I owned and operated a convenience store for 10 years. I am a proud husband, father and grandfather. I am someone who cares about the people around me, who wants to improve the society we all live in, who hopes on a daily basis to leave the planet a little better than it was the previous day and who is cognizant that the impact I have on the world is minimal. Tilting at windmills is a part of my character as is a deep love for all those who need to be loved. In my own mind I am a complex, multi-layered, unique character in the kaleidoscoping drama of life.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A great book with a good message By Barbara J. Smith William G. Bentrim's latest book "What About Me?" really hits the mark in dealing with a child's mixed emotions when a sibling is ill or hurt. Most children have experienced the feeling of being left out but it's doubly hard when they're left out by their own family. This can happen when there's illness within a family and it's very upsetting and confusing for the child. Often beyond the child's control, jealousy and anger may result, causing more problems for the family unit already under stress."What About Me?" deals with this situation beautifully. As parents we're so involved with the child who is ill or has been hurt that we tend to spend less time with the well child. We try to explain what's happening but we're already stressed so don't have the time our healthy child needs. And, of course, we assume the child understands since his or her brother or sister is ill. It's difficult for the parents to juggle the different types of needs of both the ill and well child. The well child loves his or her sibling but feels alone and possibly some guilt about the ill sister or brother. Besides the "neglect" the child is feeling the phone calls, cards, gifts and attention keep pouring in - for sister or brother. It can be a lonely and sad time for any child. This book helps children understand that parents still love their child even if they don't have the time to show it the way they normally do.The story is enjoyable for children to read but it also teaches a good lesson - for both child and parent. The illustrations beautifully show the emotions that Bradley is going through as he deals with his feelings over Bonnie's broken leg. This adorable book is good for any child as he or she will most likely experience this at some time during childhood. I highly recommend William G. Bentrim's "What About Me?"

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Overlooked No More By J. Gregory Smith Bill Bentrim continues his trend of finding unfilled or little addressed niches. With his latest, "What About Me?" he addresses overlooked siblings who inadvertently fall under shadows cast by sick or injured siblings. The book is straightforward in its presentation but will make a welcome tool to parents who may have been more caught up in a crisis than they realize. Also, children suffering from unintended neglect will appreciate the simple acknowledgement of their less severe but no less important pain.Greg SmithFinal Price

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful! By Hercularrose What a wonderful story! William G. Bentrim connects with the young reader from beginning to end. He effortlessly presents a situation that most children will relate to at sometime or other, and takes them by the hand leading them gently through complex feelings. Emotions of jealousy, anger and resentment are all addressed with ease and perfectly entwined in the story line. Some authors have a gift in connecting with young minds and William G. Bentrim is one of them. I will be recommending 'What about me' without a shadow of a doubt.Annie Frame

By Erinc Alexander really delivers with this second book in the bakeshop series - such a fun twist to have a bake-off reality TV show land in town and get everyone mixed up in a murder. The main character, Jules, really shines in this one as she juggles managing the family bakeshop and competing against an ambitious cast of contestants, all while trying to figure out whodunit. This is a series with legs - I look forward to Jules's next adventure in this quaint and quirky town.

I love the setting in Ashland, Oregon and Alexander has assembled an interesting and likeable cast of recurring characters. I will definitely be waiting for the next one in the series to appear impatiently.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. a good read By Dru Love It was fun spending time with Jules and her friends in this evenly-paced light drama. The author did a great job in setting up this tale and I enjoyed the intricacies of each scene that when it was all piece together, resulted in a finely tuned mystery. It was fun sifting through all the clues and narrowing down the list of suspects, especially when I thought I knew who did the deed, but then the author changed direction to keep me teasingly reading. Jules is very likable as is her mother and the employees at the family’s bakeshop. The rest of the cast of characters interact well with Jules for a fulfilling tale and I like that the dialogue brings the story to life. A good read and I look forward to see what happens next with Jules and the family bakeshop.

Heaven is rays of sunlight dancing slowly on wheat stalks. It's wind twirling itself around chimes hung from low tree branches, and robust bursts of scent and color, far beyond anything describable with words. Heaven is a flightless crow, a promise of forever tied to a necklace, and hidden love letters tucked away safely inside a tree. Heaven is a fire-haired boy named Rust and his love for Ancel, a boy full of storm clouds. Heaven is all the tiny threads of hope that hold them together.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Hauntingly beautiful By Lori Powell Okay, if you've yet to discover Nash Summers, you are in for a treat. A wonderfully unique voice, Nash is a skilled author who can write stories across the board, from short and sweet, to long and gritty. One thing I know I'm going to find before I even open the first page is characters that are quirky, that are different, that are wonderfully interesting. Characters that I am invested in from the first word. Fawn proved to me this is not a fluke - this is the mark of a talented author.I'm not going to give the plot away in this review, but I want you all to read it so much. Rust - how much did I love Rust? Anyone who looks at the world in a slightly different way is a winner in my book. I've given him the label quirky, because that is how we, as a society, do things. We label them. But he's not quirky - he's just not afraid to be himself. He's not trying to squeeze himself into a society-shaped box. He is he. Nothing more and nothing less - and boy did I love him hard for it.Ancel - Ancel is not like Rust. His disposition is shaped by the life he's had - and that life is far from the one that Rust has experienced. He was the perfect other MC though. He countered Rust so beautifully. I adored watching their friendship develop - as hard as it was at times. As short lived as it was. As hard as it was. It was also absolutely right. Especially for Ancel.Of course, nothing in a story runs smoothly - what story would there be if it did? But I'm going to let you discover that for yourself.I can't leave this review without commenting on a couple of things. Firstly; I want to live in Heaven. Not the ethereal in the clouds one, but the one Nash wrote about. The picture perfect place that she has created as the background for this story.. I can't tell you how much I want to live there. And secondly; part of the reason I want to live there so badly is due to the beautifully lyrical prose Nash uses to describe it. It is everything I ever wanted in a home. The beautiful prose goes beyond the description of Heaven though, it is there throughout the story.I'm so tempted to add an example - but I won't, I'll let you find the story and experience it yourself. The imagery in chapter 1 - the opening paragraph...be still my beating heart.Thank you Nash, this story is stunning.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. To know the character Rust is to be a truly fortunate person! Without going into details By Edward I shall definitely be reading more of Nash Summers writings! If I could have given this story more than 5 stars I would have done so! There is a depth and feeling here that draws you in to the characters. To know the character Rust is to be a truly fortunate person! Without going into details, I urge you to take the time to read this wonderful story. You will not be disappointed!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Highly Recommended By Daniel Bowen What a wonderful and moving story about an odd boy named Rust. Why a creative child is called something like Rust is beyond me. But Rust is down to earth, takes in the simple things of life and sees things differently. A boy that unusual could have been crushed growing up . . . But no, his parents were there for him and his mom understood. If only all parents have that kind of patience and ability to listen.Ancel is the other half of this story. He's beautiful to look at but so different in every other way. He, too, listens and has patience and is willing to look beyond what others think and say. It's a unique look at growing up, becoming the person you were meant to be, believing in yourself and overcoming what life throws at you. The way the story is written I was happy for Rust to remain in his hometown, a place he loves, a place where family is and so many memories. Because he is so self contained I could picture him being satisfied with his life, single or not. I was happy with how things turned out but would have been happy with another ending, too. A highly recommended read. - Dan's WifeJust noticed the title is 'fawn' not 'Fawn'. Fawn was the name Ancel called Rust. .. Probably due to some antlers but fawn is also a small deer that is easily spooked, brown eyed and curious. I did wonder about that title.

Review "Teal's Run is engaging.  The first thing you know, it will be midnight and you still will not want to put the book down." - Dr. Bill L. Stephens

About the Author      D. Erik Sandlin completed his post-graduate studies at the University of Houston. He volunteered within his church to assist the newly divorced. A clinical approach, he concluded, although proper therapy, was to the assemblage laborious and limiting. He sought another venue that would entertain while enlightening. The fictional vehicle, Teal's Run, was authored as an adventure that ministers to today's challenges.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great, adventurous read! By Amazon Customer This was a delightful and adventurous read. I enjoyed traveling on this journey with Jonathon Teal and his friends. While reading about Jonathon Teal's adventures, I was reminded of the adventures of Walter Mitty. But this story is not about escaping a boring life. It is about reconnecting with family. The root of this story revolves around an aging Johathon Teal as he discusses his dreams with his Butler and Psychiatrist. Mr. Teal is able to capture adventures in his dreams and these adventures are the heart of this story. Mr. Teal takes the reader on an adventure that is believable and often times humorous. We find in Mr. Teal's dreams that he is able to break out of his shell and become the hero for a fifteen year old run away girl that has been taken in by the underbelly of society. While on this journey, Mr. Teal also finds he has a sister he never knew existed. One of my favorite quotes in the book, "How long the years to eighteen, and how short those to eighty!” was very prophetic for me. This is the essence of the book: making connections to family and finding reason for life's existence in a Higher Power. There are multiple connections to loneliness, after effects of war and believing in one's abilities. Mr. Teal tells a story about being strong in the face of adversity. By the end of the story, we see how important family means to Mr. Teal.

I'm a big Disney Thomas Kinkade fan, but all of the photos on the calendar were cropped and some were zoomed-in so bad they didn't look the same as the actual photos. The little mermaid image was missing almost the entire photograph and it only zoomed in on the two main characters so it was kind of grainy.

I'm a huge Disney fan and this little mini calendar is perfect for my office space. The only thing was the bottom right corner was a little bent from the plastic wrap it was in. Other wise it was great.

I only give it 3 stars because it took too long to arrive and it was rather expensive for the size of it and the fact that I had missed 2 months by the time it arrived.

Sometimes you have to take a step out of your comfort zone if you want to start living again. Kangee is used to solitude. He’s lived like a hermit for the past seven years after finding out the hard way that shifters shouldn’t mix with humans. He has no intentions to change that, but he hadn’t counted on a bratty hard-headed human slithering into his life and pushing Kangee outside his comfort zone. Jase knows what he wants, and he wants Kangee, even if the man looks like he’d rather run the other way every time he sees Jase. He throws himself at Kangee until the man finally breaks down, but what should have been a summer fling quickly shifts into something more. Kangee has to hide his raven half from Jase because he knows the man would freak out if he found out about it, but when Jase is attacked by a bear Kangee’s raven half reacts, exposing Kangee’s secret to the man he’s starting to fall for. Will Jase run, or will he give Kangee a chance? Will what they have survive the revelation, or will it disappear along with the summer heat? 36,107 words. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. improvable By Furio This shifter short romance is solidly build and professionally written.Unfortunately I could never relate to the characters who were, admittedly, difficult ones to outline in the first place.Jase was probably meant to be sassy, outgoing and warm-hearted but turned out brattish instead. Kangee was probably meant to be vulnerable and attractive but turned out brooding and fairly childish in his mood swings. It didn't help that the author left out some important moments when the leads were supposed to understand each other better and learn to trust each other and condensed them in a few descriptive words instead.

He doesn't like having to deal with humans in any way, even doing the groceries, but with more and more people moving into his home area all the time, it was getting harder to keep his place isolated. It was while he is getting some much needed groceries that he is spotted by Jase, a human with his own mission. Okay, Jase's mission is to go out camping a find a bear, but when he sees Kangee he can't stop drooling and suddenly, the bear didn't seem that important. Unfortunately Kangee wasn't overly impressed with Jase.Jase has a big mouth, and he talks a lot, which was hilarious, and a bit of a problem for Kangee. And he makes that problem known and upsets Jase in the process. You don't like me, so I'll stop bothering you. I can take the hint and yours wasn't exactly subtle. The age difference was probably going to be an issue too, although it wasn't much. But Kangee worked from home and Jase was still at school - doing his thesis, but still young and only in the area for two weeks. Kangee does wonder if Jase can help him get rid of the developers who want his land, but that would mean working to help Jase find his bear, and he wasn't sure if he could take the risk. The raven was seriously cute - Kangee in human form was like the grizzly bear Jase was looking for, in attitude at least, but the raven half of him was too adorable for words, with the pebble and the stick. Their first night camping together was really sweet too, imagine a shifter not knowing anything about camping or roasting marshmallows. This whole story was sweet really, just like the marshmallows. Jase was the goey part and Kangee, well he was more like the burnt exterior. But when his raven took off for California, yep my heart melted. Just like Kangee's marshmallows.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Solid advice from multiple points of view By Jennifer C This is not only good solid advice on how to evaluate and win arguments, but it’s essentially a manual for getting others to agree with you without them feeling like they lost out. There is something to say in the idea of a business deal and an argument being sort of the same thing... In the end you want to walk away with both sides feeling like something was gained, and nothing of real value was lost...this book offers the kind of advice that gives you the tools to work toward that kind of successful resolution. If you are in sales or management, there could well be some idea gems in this book for you! If you are having personal relationship problems this book is a must, and might just help to keep you out of divorce court, or if you end up headed that way, it may help you negotiate for better terms. I really like the concept of having several voices giving bits of advise, as each writer gives a different point of view that adds to the cohesive totality. I have already recommenced this book to several friends . It is an easy read, not 'heady' or 'heavy' technical psycho babble so often seen in 'self help' books, no, this book is written with humor and contains good ideas that are easy to understand and bring onto one's life. I also bought another AnswerGirls book, 'Busting Sadness: Your Ticket to A Happy Life'. As of yet I have only paged through it, having decided to read 'Win Your Arguments....' first... I see it's written in the same style, so I am looking forward to giving it a proper read as well..

From the acclaimed adaptor of THE BOOK OF REVELATION comes a graphic novel depicting the creation of FRANKENSTEIN and THE VAMPIRE along with the horror & science fiction genres. Released to coincide with the bicentennial of “The Haunted Summer,” that period in June, 1816, when Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley and Lord Byron gathered around the fireplace of a mansion on a Swiss lake to concoct the first science fiction and vampire tales in western literature, WE THE MONSTERS develops from this fascinating premise: what if Mary Shelley’s lost journal chronicling those nights trading scary stories with friends on Lake Geneva were found? It would provide a firsthand account of the tales that have been inspiring authors and filmmakers for the last 200 years. Gorgeously illustrated by horror specialist David Seidman, the novel covers not only the stories that were to become FRANKENSTEIN and THE VAMPIRE, but three other original tales that have been lost to time and gave rise to these celebrated sub-genres: THE SERIAL KILLER, THE ALIEN and THE WEREWOLF. WE, THE MONSTERS is the ultimate origin story, unlocking the mystery behind the invention of these indelible icons through the interplay between five young people who would all go on to die tragically. For a brief moment their imaginations intertwined to generate stories that have immortalized their creators and turned their creations into a multi-billion dollar worldwide industry.
