About the Author Jim Davis is best known as the creator of the comic strip Garfield. Davis has written (or in some cases co-written) all of the Emmy Award-winning or nominated Garfield TV specials and was one of the producers behind the Garfield & Friends TV show which aired on CBS from 1968 to 1995. Davis is the writer and executive producer of a trilogy of C.G.-direct-to-video feature films about Garfield, as well as one of the executive producers and the creator for the new CGI-animated TV series The Garfield Show. He continues to work on the strip. Mark Evanier is an Eisner-award winning comic book and television writer primarily known for his humor work. After his start in the comics industry as production assistant to Jack Kirby, he began writing comic books for Walt Disney and Gold Key Comics among others. In the world of television, Mark worked on a number of shows including Welcome Back, Kotter, Scooby Doo and Thundarr the Barbarian. He is most noted in animation for his contributions on Garfield and Friends, a seven-season series for which Mark co-wrote or wrote nearly every episode.

Usually these books are about zombies, mysterious infections or over the top natural disasters. Tomorrow War goes well beyond any of those unlikely scenarios, the cause of this “apocalypse” is completely man-made and well within our current technological capabilities. Tomorrow War is scarier because this could actually happen.J.L. Bourne has paid meticulous attention to details. Our hero, Max, is so well prepared for the end of the world as we know it; it makes the best prepared preppers look like amateurs. What I normally love about a post-apocalyptic book, is thinking to myself: What would I do? Could I survive? The simple answer in Max’s world is “NO!”Max is an incredibly well developed character. We meet Max early on in his training. It is evident from the start that Max has “it” - the skills that are required for the special ops jobs that his country has planned for him. His training creates the Max who can survive in this new dangerous world. But Max is more than just a survivor, he is a man unwilling to give up his principles; just because things have gotten dangerous, doesn’t mean that a person’s basic rights have changed. These are rights that others have fought and died for and Max is willing to make this same sacrifice.Tomorrow War is an intense portrayal of what could happen, what we could become. J.L. Bourne has done a fantastic job of telling this gripping story that kept me on the edge of my seat with my chest clenched. 17 of 20 people found the following review helpful. There's A Whole Lot To Look At, But There's No Room For Love. By Corvin Mets J.L. Bourne stole the show with his sleeper hit, Day by Day Armageddon; a piece-meal masterpiece [collection] that was drawn together from a collection of faux-journal entries once attributed to his nameless hero. Though his writing may have simply been a way to burn time during a brief vacation from service - as he is in fact an active member of the Navy- he ended creating something with a little more reach. His characters were rich, unique, and all suffered from their own flaws and shortcomings. The day to day passings could easily be imagined, and the calamities relived each and every time you would dance along with his words.Tomorrow War marks a slight turn in this tradition, and though the similarities of narrative remain, a lot has been lost in the wash. Max, the faultless hero, begins with a background that could have made its way into a unique storyline, however, the set-up almost seems to be a play at convenience. But in truth, it seems as though this 'convenience' has been created as a reverse engineered solution to give our hero the background to move mountains. Though it can be difficult to explain without examples [I hate spoilers], maybe you'll take note as you work your way along.It's this 'genie in a bottle' experience that has left me with a very particular taste in my mouth. Though I greatly enjoyed the set-up - and research tied to its rollout - Max's response is all too rushed, and far too easy. Weapons practically fall from the sky in a configuration that would make a gun-nerd bust his nut, and consumables come in volumes that he could burn half his stock and still have enough left over to supply a war party in the Congo. There's no hustle, there's no struggle, it's as if JLB just wanted to hit the nail on the head, and didn't want to run up the page count. For me, this was such a departure from DbDA, as you felt nervous for the man as time he fired a shot or had a meal; you felt his isolations and worries, but with Max, I couldn't care less. I think that says more than anything.What I will say, is that JLB has added a new twist to a universe of literature that has been chewed up and spat out the same way, time and time again. The scenario is fresh, the response is new, and the scenery holds something that stands all on its own. If ever there is a time that a writer gets me thinking, I can't be all too broken up about it. Unfortunately, it's as if he's created a beautiful set with no actors on stage. Disposable players round out each chapter of the book, and even by the end I still found myself unattached, and underwhelmed.Despite the fact that I believe JLB rushed through this as if he were playing 'what would I do if I won the lottery', I have no intentions of discounting this book. Though lacking direction late into the 3rd quarter, I have a strong feeling that Bourne already has his second book in the works; perhaps and effort that will bring his characters and scenarios back to ground. Time leads to desperation, and though I'm sure our faithful hero will continue to hit the jackpot, I'll simply settle for a little more soul, and a little more to hold onto.J.L. if you're out there...you know what to do.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. This is epic.. I bought the kindle and had to go back for the Hardcover! By WJ LUNDY Tomorrow War, exemplifies the reason J.L. Bourne is one of my favorite authors. He knows his sh!t and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. The only word of warning I can give is, set some time aside, because once you start on this thriller you won’t stop until its finished. I picked it up, and eight hours later at O dark thirty, I was cursing over the final page. This is the real deal, future land warfare in a country gone wrong, and what makes it truly terrifying is this could happen, and may potentially be right around the corner. No reason to suspend disbelief on this one, J.L. Bourne has clearly set the stage for a new wave of destruction! Toss on a rucks sack, grab your M4 and join Max on an epic adventure…

Having a fantastic storyline blended with scripture is my favorite kind of book to read. I want a message from the book and I got one - trust in God with your whole heart and He will see you through. I was pleased that Tamika's first book was well written and EDITED so that I wasn't subjected to being distracted with a lot of grammatical and typo mistakes like some authors on Amazon. Thank you so much Tamika Edwards for respecting your readers by putting out a QUALITY book. I anxiously await her second and third and fourth book!

About the Author Michael Phillips is an author, editor, publisher, and bookseller. He's written nearly 50 books, including many best sellers, and his current total book sales have capped five million.

He's also the editor of 25 books by 19th-century author George MacDonald (Bethany House). Sales now top l.5 million copies. Plus, he's the founder of Sunrise Books, which issues leather-bound editions of MacDonald's original works. At age 45, Phillips is responsible for nearly 100 titles that today circulate in the Christian marketplace.

This output stems from the printed page's greatest influence on Phillips' life. Besides the extensive library in his office, seven volumes perch in a place of honor on top of his desk. It points out that God gave us our 'self' and we must take care of our 'self' because some day we are going to be givng our self back to Him. And every decision we make, even the smallest, most unimportant decision makes up what and who we become and is what we present to God when he calls us home. This book is very well written and easy to read, but really makes the reader stop and think. It is a very powerful, thought provoking book and one that I will be reading over and over again.

The purchase was made two week after a life threatening heart infection. This book along with that experience has help me realize what is really important in this life. It was used of God to heal old wounds and renew my relationship with Him. Reading this book will be one of the most memorable times in my spiritual walk. It is wonderful. A must to read. njk.

This is centered around a garden that has been maintained throughout the life time of the author. From one flower comes either a scent or a color that represents something that has occurred in life, either good or bad. There are bushes and trees that have been chosen to show how a behavoir, belief, word, act or deed was dealt with while on earth.The most signficant memory I have is that we have been given everything we need to be successful here on earth. It is how we chose to use each gift that we have which determines our "afterlife". God gave us our "will" and by doing so we have "choices". We need to be conscience everyday of the choices we make. ...because it may bring up a foul smelling flower or discolored bush or tree. Reading this book allowed me to reflect on my "limitations" and see why I must do all I can to do His "will".

By Jandra As the summary says, it's a story centered around two friends who are given the opportunity to reconcile after years apart. The story switches from past to present in a concise and understanding way and the supposed conflict between characters is enough to keep your attention. Mind that it is short so small details, excluding things important to the plot, are not thoroughly explained. Overall, for the author's first self-published work, it's worth the price. She also has a YouTube channel, so you should go check that out.

Schaefer This is just the first book in the Motel Wrestler series, all of which I have enjoyed reading. It gave me a new perspective on why such a thing might appeal to a lot of men, and also some women. Physical domination of another person can be a very powerful, and sometimes sexual, feeling. But where there's a winner, there's also a loser, so you must also learn how to handle losing. After all, no one wins all the time.

I had never heard of Motel Wrestling, or underground wrestling (I'll admit my knowledge is obviously lacking) but I was very into the scene that was written in this book. Maybe it's just me but I saw nothing erotic in that. But I do have to say the author is definitely a clever wordsmith, the writing was flawless and engaged me the whole time. It was very solid.

They say art is the main indication of the values of a culture, but I think the real indication would be our idea of etiquette. That might be an exaggeration, but the rules here, though dated, are still products of sharp insight and humor and plenty can still be used for today's time to help you be a nicer person. True, lots of it is blatantly sexist but most of it sets itself apart from actual snobbery by emphasizing kindness over superficial "well-breeding." The prose is direct and to the point, so it's very easy to flip open to any page and skim that, then move on with your day.

A human teen who has had a dream that leads him into the Minecraft world to find his way the the Spider Jockey Academy. Humans in general are not trusted by the mobs of Minecraft and though he makes some friends, most of the other students and some of his teachers are openly hostile to him being there.Book 1- Covers his entry into the academy and his introduction to the faculty and student body. He immediately gets off on the wrong foot with history Professor Nitroe, who is intent on blaming Boris for every wrong a human has committed since the beginning of time. Also he has some runs-ins with upperclassmen Saul Sage, the zombie pigman who is the academy’s best jockey. Boris tries to keep his down and get through his classes best he can. I think most kids will relate to not fitting in and yet wanting to do great things. This is a nice introduction to the series and characters.The entire series so far has been a fun adventure that fits nicely in the Minecraft genre. Though it is fan fiction, most players will enjoy seeing the mobs as something more than game play and will enjoy learning a bit their history and heroes. The illustrations are pure minecraft and there are plenty of spell and weapon lore to satisfy any young minecraft fan. As a mom who spends hours a week with MC going on somewhere around me, I can say that it has made it a bit more enjoyable for me as well. I think the rest of the series, when it comes out will be just a fun. What I like about these books, and many of the other books by this author, is the built in impetuous for kids to read. We have all seen our crafting kids with their noses buried in the latest you tube tutorials, saves and play-alongs. While I will admit to the possible educational value in some of those, it is very nice to see the screen off and a nose buried in a book instead. Win-Win for kids and their parents/educators.

Join Boris on his adventure to becoming and being a student at Spider Jockey Academy. Follow him as he meets with the headmaster to become a student. To become an unofficial roommate to the headmaster's son until he goes to find and tame the lava spider. Even though he doesn't tame the lava spider, he does get accepted into the Spider Jockey Academy. From there you can follow his adventure of bein a student of Spider Jockey Academy.As a middle-grade book, this is appropriate for grades 4 to 12. My son just so happens to be age 7 and in grade 2. He is obsessed with playing Minecraft. Thanks to him as I was reading through this book with him, he was able to tell me what things were. lol! I highly recommend this book for any young child or older child that is extremely into Minecraft. I truly hope this isn't the end of Boris' story and we get to find out the rest later.

If you are finished reading the Harry Potter series and you like Minecraft, you will love this book. Boris and Drew are two friends I wouldn't have expected. I don't want to spoil anything about this book, so you will need to buy it to find out I am so excited about this series. When you read it, you will feel the same way that I do. The only bad part about the book is that there aren't more volumes of it right now, And I can't wait for the next installment. For now, I will have to settle for other books written by Christopher Craft.

Violet was unfortunate enough to live next door to her number one bully and drama queen Brianna. For years Brianna has done things to make Vi’s life miserable and through it all Vi just kept getting stronger and more independent in her life. The final straw was when Blake, Vi’s sexy boyfriend and Lena, her newly found best friend, was drawn into a scandal of lies and blackmail. It was time for revenge because drama queen and her little trolls that follow her around have done enough damage to deserve some payback.Now the plan was brilliant and I have to give kudos to the author for thinking this up, but in the midst of all the revenge, Violet’s heart was still breaking over what she had discovered. There is also a lot of angst among the characters families that draw these teens together against their will, so the side action is interesting as well. Violets mother was a riot, she is so crazy that sometimes I found I laughed out loud at her silliness but some of the choices her mother made, caused me to feel an over protective anger for Violet. The ending gave me mixed feelings. I can see the realistic value of how it ended and I was glad to see Violet was able to see the other side of the situation but I felt like they moved on while I was still feeling a rush of emotions over what happen. In a nutshell, if you can read this through the eyes of a 17 year old girl you are going to LOVE this story. I read it through the eyes of a mother and trust me things don’t calm down so quickly inside my mind when kids and bullying is involved.I struggled with the number rating for this book only because I am not a huge fan of books about teenage angst and high school drama, let’s be honest I live with two teenage girls, I get enough of that at home. This story fits that genre to a T, BUT I couldn’t ignore the fact that this was a very well written book. The characters were developed so well they almost became real to me and it would be a five star book to those who love this type of plot. So in all fairness and because I do deeply love the message that the author has in this book and her style of writing was wonderful and easy to read and follow, I went with a four stars and feel solid with my choice.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Love this book! By Jorge *SPOILER ALERT*I was gifted a copy of the book for an honest review, and I absolutely loved it. I really like Taylor's writing style and how she really shows Violet's voice and thought process throughout the book. The character that I liked the most was definitely Lena. She was a really lovable character. I was excited to hear that the next book will be based on her. I hated Brianna as a character and even had moments where I hated Blake. I think Violet was naive to take him back. She was such a strong character in the begging, but I had to remind myself that she's a teenager who has been shunned by many people her whole life thanks to Brianna, so Blake was her only real friend. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I think other teens will too. I was told that the author wrote the book at 16, and that really impresses me. I'll look for more from her in the future.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A Romance Junkie By A Romance Junkie Cesar was a big blockhead and I only warmed up to him in the last chapter. Bianca was not so bad, her dad was a very rich man who wanted nothing to do with her or her mother. Her mother had turned into a whore and a drunk because of her husbands rejection. Cesar was a playboy who didn't want to get married...ever. So Bianca was enjoying some good sex and kept Cesar completely out of her life. The man didn't even know where she lived. When she dumped him he had to hired a private detective to find her. It would have been a great story but there was just no romance. It was a bore. Even the ending sucked, I gave this book two stars because I actually finished it. It took me three nights to read because I kept falling asleep. I can't recommend this book at all.

I like Cesare due to what he did for Bianca's mother Helene.Bianca's mother Helen is an alcoholic who wallows in self pity due to getting older and due to her ex-husband leaving her for a younger woman about twenty years ago. I don't understand how Bianca or even Helene did not get professional for this long. Bianca was also an enabler trying to pacify her mother Helene and working to pay for her mother's expensive clothes.I would recommend this book because I still enjoyed it and like Diana Hamilton.

I really enjoyed Bob and Amanda's story. The focus was more on them and their relationship, their sacrifices for their way of life, the continuous threats to that way of life, and how they fit into the MC with the other officers. Finding themselves and their place as a couple as well as individuals within the group.With a great writing style, quick story flow and some incredible action scenes this couldn't have earned anything less than five stars from me...and those seriously smexy scenes kinda helped with that too! ;)Can't wait for the next book...p.s. there is a really handy list of characters and who belongs to who at the beginning. The love that Amanda and Bob have for each other is unconditional and brings up so much emotion. The way they get through everything by helping each other is amazing. There is a lot of action and the sex is hot. The way the MC has Their backs is a beautiful thing. I cried because some of the things in the book hit really close to home for me. I laughed because there were so many funny vignettes. I love the twin theme in these books. Also I will say they need to be read in order. I can't wait for the next book.

19 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Insanely repetitive By Anna's herding cats The quick of it is that years ago Zack was in love but one day she just...disappeared. And he's spent 12 years searching for her and trying to survive the heartache of not knowing what happened to her. And now he's walked into a security job and recognizes a scene from a painting hanging on the wall. One only his lost love would have been able to paint. He's found her! Only Anna-Grace...is terrified of him and he'll be damned if he can figure out why. Add in a bit of drama from some bad guys, a little life or death and trying to figure out what happened all those years ago pretty much consumes Zack's life.So. Sounds like a pretty fantastic set up, right? I love second chance romances and was all in for Safe at Last especially seeing as how I enjoyed the previous books in the series. The mysterious disappearance of Gracie years earlier, the trauma and vastly differing recollections and the bad guys trying to get Gracie to hurt Zack meshed together for quite the start to the book. However, past the storyline concept nothing else really worked for me. Lack of progress for the majority of the book, a frustrating heroine and then things magically being perfect left me a very agitated reader and feeling pretty let down.Alright so my main issue was that I felt like I was trapped in a never ending cycle. You know. Everything just keeps repeating over and over and nothing moves forward. That was the first 60% of the book. Yes. 60% of the book was spent with him asking "What did I do?? I loved you. I've searched for you. Explain to me what I did that made you leave me and hate me so much!" and her response of..."How DARE you?! How dare you act like you're innocent and don't KNOW what you did!". Over and over and over and over again. And then one more time for good measure. With a intermission between each verbal match of him being comforted by his teammates and lamenting not knowing what to do next. That 60% could have been whittled down to 3-4 chapters but instead was dragged out to the point of annoyance. Heck, the hero was even annoyed but still we kept going on with that.She did eventually tell him what happened but only after he finally forced her. And it was something incredibly awful. I'll give her that. But it wasn't anything he caused or knew about. That she wouldn't believe him and had thought the worst of him all those years really bothered me. Because of their dynamic there was next to no heat in this one either and the romance...nil. It was all him trying to get her to talk, her refusing, a bit of life or death happening, him finally having proof he was innocent and her going from sheer terror at the sight of him to finding out the truth and nearly instantly declaring she loved him and agreeing to marry him. Really now? *deep breaths* It was just absurd.Had the suspense or paranormal aspects held their weight I might have been okay but they both fell short as well.The suspense side of things was a slight continuation of the previous book and amounted to the bad guys seeking revenge by attacking the women who meant something to Zack and his teammates. It wasn't very fleshed out, there was nothing new happening and it felt like just a random add in instead of an actual storyline. Maybe 10% of the book actually had something to do with the suspense and a chunk of that was the final battle.On the para-side. The women in the series have psychic abilities of some sort. In Gracie's case she could read minds. However after the past trauma her power went dormant so there was next to none of that in the book. Only towards the very end did it come into play which was another let down since that aspect of the series has been great until this point.What finally did things in for me was an incredible case of multi-heroine TSTL syndrome. Gracie and the two previous heroines...become bratty and instead of allowing the men--who were trained and rescue people as a career--do their job the women used their psychic abilities to glean info and then withheld the info the men needed to save a teammate's life until they agreed to take the women with them. Into danger. When one was still recovering and weak from being nearly beaten to death and the other two weren't trained in any way. I just. Nope. I cannot stand women like that. They risked their lives unnecessarily and of course the heroine was nearly killed by the bad guy because she had no sense and really shouldn't have been there. I was done.All in all, Safe at Last, other than the initial concept and a small secondary storyline for a future couple, was a very big miss for me. I am curious to see what happens with the next couple's story though. I just hope there's actually something happening in their book and it's pulled together more than this one. The earlier books in the series were entertaining and I had a great time with them so I'm hopeful this was just an exception and not a hint of what's to come for the series because really the 30+ chapter book could have been amounted to about 4 chapters of actual story that was set on rinse and repeat. I adore Banks and her books but this was far from even mediocre for me.

By BJ's Reviews 3.5 "2nd Chance at Lost Love" Stars!The third book in the Slow Burn series features threads of many different romance sub-genres, ensuring that there is a little something for every type of romance lover. From the mildly suspenseful plot and paranormal elements (featuring a heroine who has a mind reading gift) to the second chance at first love romantic overtone, Safe At Last covers a lot of ground within the romance genre landscape.As this is the third book in the Slow Burn Series, I feel it is worth mentioning that Safe At Last could easily be read as a standalone, as the primary romance is fully explained within this book. That said, there certainly is some overlap with characters previously introduced earlier in the series, including the two prior heroines who each have their own unique supernatural gift. Therefore, to the extent you do plan to read the entire series, it is best read in order.Anna-Grace "Gracie" grew up on the complete opposite spectrum of Zack Covington. While Gracie was considered "trailer trash" by Zack's well to do family--especially his father--Zack nonetheless saw something special in Gracie. Falling hopelessly in love, Zack, even on the verge of a superstar football career, knew that Gracie was the one and only girl for him.What Zack could never have expected was that one day Gracie would up and leave without even a goodbye. Heartbroken, Zack tried to move on, but over the years, he just could never forget Gracie. Moreover, without Gracie to plan his future with, he let an injury, which he could have come back from, end his football career in its infancy. Instead Zack chose to join Devereaux Security, a private security firm, in the hopes that one day he might be able to use his career skills to uncover what had happened to his Gracie.Then one day, while on assignment, when he had totally given up all hope, Zack stumbles across a painting that could only have been painted by Gracie. Soon Zack is reunited with Gracie again only to discover that she is deathly afraid of him.Determined to take full advantage of this second chance, however, Zack is unwilling to take no for an answer and insists on finding out why Gracie is so scared of him and moreover he refuses to stop until he has won over Gracie's heart again. But when a past danger resurfaces, all plans of a first love reunion must be put on hold, while Zack's first priority is to make sure that Gracie never gets hurt again.All in all, Safe at Last was a decent story. While I wish the suspense and romance angle of the story had been a little more robust, I did feel a connection with the characters. Unfortunately for me, I guessed correctly the source of Gracie's trepidation rather early in the story. I also would have liked to see the second romance blossom more between the characters, instead it felt like as soon as the mystery was solved, their relationship was also immediately restored. Given the long history and unfortunate facts that led to the initial split, I think the story could have benefited from a little more relationship building following the unveiling of the mystery.Source: Review copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

It takes a while and there’s alot of suspense, but romance does happen.The Good, The Bad and Everything In BetweenExcellent suspense: There’s alot going on with Zack and Gracie, and there’s a couple of different threads unraveling at once. The action is interesting, if a bit confusing for a novice like me. I haven’t read the earlier entries, so while the first 20% had its share of recapping (which flowed well), it wasn’t until after that point when a villain from the DSS crew’s past rears its head did I start to feel a little lost.Kind of a standalone?: There’s certainly information provided to help the reader out, but between this and all the characters from the earlier books making an appearance, it got a bit hectic. I would say that it would make a difference to read the earlier books. As for the tension and suspense, I was right there screaming with Zack, wanting to know what the heck happened to Gracie all those years ago and it kept me turning the page….until it just made me want to cry for her.Zack’s undying devotion is hot: Zack and Gracie’s romance began when they were teenagers and the plans for their wedding night? Literally made me awww out loud. His inner monologue about how he felt about Gracie, everything he wanted to give her was absolutely swoon-worthy and by far my favorite part of this book. For those who need “safe” romances, Zack is all about his girl. There is no doubt about his feelings or waffling in the least. The heat is in his feels for her...Which is good because sexy times aren’t plentiful: It made absolute sense for this story to be more about their emotional journey than any sexual connection. It’s a very slow burn, but after all that Gracie went through, any quicker would have felt rushed. Which leads me to…Gracie’s secret was heartbreaking: While I felt it was fairly to predict what it was, the details make it no less horrifying. There is violence against her in this book as well, so for those with triggers, this may be difficult to read. I do feel that the severity of her previous trauma makes her distrust and sheer fear of Zack a little more believable....if easy to figure out: While I enjoyed alot of things about this read, I did struggle with the plot being fairly standard, and a bit of repetitiveness when it came to drawing out the tension of the reveals. It could be frustrating at times. Zack’s devotion though? That made up for alot.The Bottom LineIssues aside, I liked it. I did feel a bit lost at times, so I would recommend this for fans of this series. Zack was a gem of a hero, though - those who adore their alpha heroes to be completely and utterly devoted to their ladies may want to check him out.
