By Fire Dad ^6 The Helot is book one of a series of Christian Fantasy/Adventure books. The main character, Tor, is interesting, he is a miffit, which the author described as something like a cross between an elf and a dwarf, thinking back to Lord of the Rings, this brought an interesting conflict between the races to mind for me. Tor is a likable character that is stronger than he knows and is a good uncommon hero that you can route for and be glad that you did.The world is well describe and easy to follow along, there are some interesting creatures and people that Tor meets throughout the book as well that make it an enjoyable read. There is a fair amount of tension in this book that not only keeps you guessing, but it did a good job of engaging me to the point that I felt invested in the story. It is well written and an enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to reading more books in the series and seeing what adventures Tor will go on next. If your a fan of Fantasy, or if you are looking for something fun and different to read then this is a great book for you, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.A fun Fantasy novel with a lovable main character you will enjoy going on the journey with him.4 Stars.

A page-turner, each story of this 6-part sequel leaves you breathless and wanting more. “Tor,” the protagonist of each story, is a “miffit,” somewhere between a dwarf and an elf, whose outwardly humble, mild-mannered ways belie his inward strength, fortitude and principled character. As each adventure unfolds, and as he experiences strange and exotic creatures, beautiful yet often hostile realms, your senses are supercharged as you journey with him.But The Helot is so much more than just a series of adventure stories. Throughout each, the reader gets a vivid picture of what it means to seek wisdom, faith and direction from the Supreme Source of all that – God, if you will – and how denial of “self” usually means taking the road less traveled where you face formidable foes.Faced with impossible odds, Tor’s faith, courage, and endearing character somehow encourage us to face our own life struggles in similar fashion. “Human” in his fears, you see a very down to earth super-hero in unlikely form.A mix of fantasy and yet Godly tenets throughout, this book entertains, inspires, and touches your heart in unexpected ways. John Edgell is a masterful story-teller with a superb gift of language and creative genius. He places you into his imaginary worlds where all things are possible…….if you just believe! ~anon
