It didn't start to get very interesting until between 45-50% into the book. It was nice that Ms. Lyons chose an MC that was not 100% perfect, gorgeous, rich and super-intelligent He was human, and trying to get better while battling self-esteem issues. The other MC, Luke, was okay, but he seemed a bit immature IMO. And that's not just because he's living at home, but it didn't help that he still sleeps in a bunk bed and gets yelled at for losing his phone. But they had a cute little happy ending.

A bit too rounded, with health issues knocking at the door and lack of love life (all of these because of his bad eating habits) he is forced to choose whether to continue walking this disastrous path or grab a hold of his own life and make something good out of it.His good intentions to finally change things for better lead him to a local gym and are soon rewarded, when Sam meets someone he can truly fall in love with – his gym trainer, Luke – who also has his own demons to fight. Together, they manage to overcome their fears and find the comfort they needed.“Hungry for Love” is a nice, well-written story, with cute characters, which are so real you can touch them. It was great to see them achieve some well-deserved happiness after all the misery they have been through.

The way he justified his failures and down played his achievements. It sounded like several people I know that struggle with food and weight. His self esteem has been pulverized and letting Luke in little by little takes courage. Luke too has to rebuild his confidence after having it trashed by his ex. There are a few stumbling moments getting their relationship going but it flourishes once it takes hold. I loved Luke's family. His little brother is a hoot.Adult read

Magpie's Masque- Book Three of Grace Walton's Bestselling Medieval Inspirational Romance series, The ChristKeepers. Magpie has no name, no family, and no wealth. Rafe, brother to Titus, is an infamous scoundrel and rake. His scandals and arrogance are legend. He honors no man and bows to no God. He makes Magpie his cabin boy. The arrangement suits them both until she grows into the promise of her stunning beauty. Together they will challenge the King, escape from the Tower of London, overcome the schemes of an aristocratic madman, work to reclaim Rafe's rightful inheritance, navigate through a maze of mistaken vows, and face a hangman's gallows. Can there ever be true redemption for one such as Rafe? Can there ever be honest love between them? They'll only discover the truth if he can just get her to remove- Magpie's Masque. Reviews for Grace Walton's The ChristKeepers Series: Mercy's Heart: "Romantic, sweet, and touched with moments of suspense and mystery, this is a tale that I eagerly read through but was not ready for it to end." Faith's Keys: "Romantic, exciting, funny and heart-warming, Faith's Keys has it all!" Reviews for Grace's Regency Series- Low-Country Love Stories : The Last Rose Pearl: "I loved this novel, it had everything you could want in a novel. There was humor, romance, intrigue and a compelling story. The author handled this story with finesse and realism. Although the hero was surely larger then life, her portrayal of him was both compelling and eye opening. She wove together a story of a hard, crass, life worn man with what he said in the beginning of the novel, "would be his destiny." And she did it in such a way that the reader was carried along and loved every minute of it. We knew this big strong handsome guy would at some point give in, but the author was brilliant in the way she took the reader along with him each step of the way and she did it all without torrid sex scenes and still we understood the great passion these two had for one another. I would highly recommend this book and I really look forward to her next installment of this series." Reviews for Grace's Contemporary Romances: Carried Away: "The characters were so complex and the story line so fast paced it a was a hard book to put down." Birdie Saves the World: "While this is a clean read, the romantic tension in this story is sizzling." Reviews for Grace's Supernaturals: One Nation Under gods: "I couldn't put this book down! What a great read! I love all of Grace Walton's books, but this one is by far my new favorite! The romance, suspense, action, and supernatural elements were woven together so well with the underlying theme of redemption and grace. I will highly recommend this book to my friends!" The Giftlings: "You can't put it down! It's gripping, and powerfully shows sides of good and evil that we can't see." Find your 'Happily Ever After in a Grace Walton Novel!' www.gracewalton.com

Way too much violence (and allusions to it) to call it "inspirational" or "clean" By MrsFordy This is the third book in the series, and the last one I will read. Where I thought the first book was borderline on being salaciously violent, second one was markedly better, this third installment was just too much. The heroine is tortured by a sadist for 2 weeks, some of which is described, some alluded to in flashback, and ALL of it is disturbing. I thought the series might be getting better w the second book which had a lot LESS violence and overt references to characters wanting to rape the heroine, but this book was just over the top. As with the first two, the female is a Christian and uncompromisingly so, but the rest of the book and characters are so revolting, depraved, and graphic in their language of what they intend to do to the heroine, I just can't recommend the book, and certainly not as "inspirational." I get that the villian is a complete deviant (to put it mildly). I did NOT need to have him relay a graphic account of how he'd enjoy torturing a mother WHILE SHE IS PREGNANT. I enjoy historical fiction immensely, I understand that this isn't Regency Era England, but I wanted to take a shower after reading this book. I'm pretty sure the only reason why I finished was because I knew there'd be a happy ending, and I didn't want the images of what happened to be stuck in my head. What also caught me attention is considering the amount of suffering, abuse, and violence all of the lead characters experience in their respective feature novels, the following books, life is pure bliss as soon as they get married...and they all become caricatures essentially serving as deus ex machina to save the H/H from the latest impossible escape scenario. The author writes vividly and very descriptively... just not about the types of things I want to read about.

I read the other two in the series and although I liked elements, they weren't as strong as this story. Magpie and Rafe are my favorite characters and I don't think that was an easy fete to pull off, as initially they weren't the most interesting in my book. Rafe doesn't come across as the typical hero, and that's refreshing.I don't understand the need for such long discussions of torture and the discussions leading up to it, but the lack of showing almost any physical affection. I skimmed lots of the talk of torture, not being it was really offensive, I just didn't want to read it. It did seem overkill, as do all the conversations in the series when the brothers get together and taunt each other. But I still enjoy them. There is some definite eye rolling at how tall and muscled and wide of shoulders all the brothers are. I'm thinking a hero can still be a hero and be, you know, 5'10", but that's just a small thing. The story had plenty of twists and surprises. There was sermonizing but I just skimmed over that stuff. There are a few moments where you feel like yelling at people with the whole, "Oh my gosh, just tell them already!" And Magpie is too perfect, like saintly perfect where she doesn't seem to care that she's treated horribly, while Rafe is too imperfect. I don't like how often romance novels pull that. But again, that didn't make me like the story less. I loved the heart of the story, the unique plot line and the pacing was strong. Overall, this is a solid book. The more she writes, the better she gets. Just gimme more kisses!

Good:) By Steph Although Rafe and Magpie have been two of my favorite characters in this series, and as much as I love all of their kinfolk, I found myself both enjoying this story and feeling disappointed. It's well written and over all a good story but to be completely honest, Magpie whom I've enjoyed throughout the series, I found completely irritating and disappointing to the point of nearly wanting to not bother finishing the book. Her fun independent and kind spirit was a bit tainted by her stubborn refusal to see any sense or even try to listen to what Rafe or even her friend Isaiah had to say when all was exposed. I felt because of this and some other negatives that she undermined a lot of her loveable qualities as a character and I grew to dislike her, despite the girl I'd enjoyed in the other books.

A real man needs a real love… To become the man he’s meant to be, one cowboy will have to be the man he never wanted anyone to know he was… Ryder Dent is a true-blue cowboy. A devoted son, husband and father, but one who is living a costly lie. When they were both young, Ryder and his closest female friend Andi thought they’d found the perfect solution to both their problems—she was single and pregnant, and he was secretly gay—so they got married and raised Jonas together. When Ryder gets hurt at a party, his son’s new pediatrician comes to the rescue. The connection between Ryder and Dr. Declan Winters is sudden, powerful, and undeniable. Ryder loves Andi and the family they’ve created together—but they both need more. Can they pursue their hearts’ desire without destroying the life they’ve built and losing the son they love? By Roroblu'sMum A ZA Maxfield tale is always well-told, and this was no exception, except, pardon me, that I wondered what had happened to the editor of this tale. Had he/she given up the ghost? I cannot believe that this tale was marketed as a romance, and a whole novel at that, not a serialised or part1/part2 tale, because that ending totally didn't do it for me. It had me wondering what happened to the three adults at the core of the tale, it had me wondering about the supposed love between the males, and it had me wondering about whether there actually could or would be a HEA, and how the leads could live in their Texan bible belt town, with the many secrets that came out. And yes, there was a whammy of secrets.I have to say that the tale started off well and that it's one with a premise that I'd not encountered in a western-set tale, and certainly not a contemporary one, and it promised a lot, seemed to be heading to giving me all that I need from a romance, but then it fell short. I am not sure if the editor didn't read it til the end, and/or if the author couldn't be bothered or couldn't figure out where to take the tale and how to end it, but that was o ending at all. NOTHING was tied up. Not the marriage, not the leads's togetherness, not the situation with the child, not the new career, not their possible future lives - nothing. This really shouldn't have been marketed as a romance, as I didn't hear those all-important words uttered out loud, other than between the wrong people, and there was no HEA or even HFN.. I hated the bigotrythat was left up in the air, as was the tale. I am only glad that I paid far, far less than the current asking price.

I usually do really enjoy this authors work. I personally wouldn’t tag this as a cowboy book. More of a small town good old boy comes out of the closet and faces all the BS that brings with it story. The story is told from Ryder’s POV only. I would have liked to see things from Declan’s POV. He came off as almost too good to be true. Hunky young doctor comes to down and knocks Ryder’s world off kilter. He was not born and raised in Bitterroot and his view on the social politics that confined Ryder might have helped me feel some compassion for their situation. Instead of being mostly frustrated with it. It also would have given me a break from Ryder’s constant angsty martyr routine.Ryder grew up in Bitterroot with his best friend Andi. Andi is a rich horse rancher’s daughter and wild at heart. A crazy weekend as a teenager in the city leaves her pregnant and afraid of the shame that stigma places on her from the gossiping small town people and the wrath of her father. The sperm donor wants nothing to do with her or the baby and she’s underage. So her gay best friend steps up to marry her. Both because he’s a good friend and it helps him put his desire for men on the back burner under the guise of more important things. Like raising a child and supporting a family.I grew up in a small town. So I can relate to the gossiping and the need to keep up appearances to avoid being the one gossiped about. This book just seemed to take it to an entirely different level. One I can’t help by lay at Andi’s feet. Yes, she was afraid and took the safest and easiest way out. Something Ryder was willing to offer. Great! I get the impulse to avoid the scrutiny and tidy up the mess she found herself in as quickly as possible. However, their relationship just never seemed fair to me. Not only because they were denying themselves love, but because Andi never seemed to consider Ryder’s feelings. She came off as flippant and selfish and I just could not ever like the woman no matter how amazing Ryder thought she was. I understand how they made their life in the town that looks down on them and now they feel stuck in it, but she claims to never care what her father thinks but bows to him even though he’s a completely bigoted chauvinistic prick who cares more about appearances than his own family. I just can’t ever see choosing the guy who gave up his football scholarship and future to help me save face by marrying me. One who has taken upon himself the role of father to my child, for a guy who constantly makes him feel like s***. I could see her taking his crap but not standing up for Ryder made me have no respect for her. I did appreciate how they both wholeheartedly loved that little boy. It’s just a shame Ryder got very little consideration when he expressed his fear of losing his son. This book is pretty much Ryder’s coming out story. He has a soap opera worthy ton of baggage that comes with him. Declan is very accepting and understanding of his circumstances. The few times Declan asks the questions we’re all wanting to know, he’s rebuffed and shamed because how can anybody feel not having a love life isn’t worth it if he gets to keep his son in his life. How dare Ryder get both! Growing up in a small town you can feel very isolated and forget there’s a whole other world out there. I can see how it would be easy to buy into the “we’re stuck here but we have each other” thing Andi and Ryder had going but it was never going to last. Declan showing up and waking up desires in Ryder makes them question how they’ve been living. Outsider perspective helps them see they can’t stay this way forever. The guys fall for each other pretty quickly once they get physical. Ryder is 23 and never kissed a man or done any of the things he fantasizes about. Giving up intimacy, love and sexual release with another man now that he’s found it isn’t an option. This book was full of angst and drama. Kind of a weird love triangle about a married man, his wife and the new boyfriend. No cheating since the husband and wife were never romantically involved. There’s a kid needing consideration at every turn. Bigoted towns people. Awful parents who control and belittle their children instead of supporting and loving them when they need it most. A little insta love and lust. Not a bad read but kind of slow and full of small town drama. I wasn’t sad to see it end.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. TREAT YOURSELF AND BUY THIS BOOK! A GREAT READ! By Ontheother hand I chose to write this review because I couldn't let stand the poor reviews that some people found it necessary to write! I thought this was a terrific read, filled with three dimensional characters and an intricate, unusual plot. I found the lead characters perfectly human (with the usual human frailties) and quite charming. The unusual trio ending I found most satisfying and the three people thereof, quite brilliant in their decision. The unusual, but completely loving relationship in the marriage, was touching. The characterization of Jonas, the little boy was right on the mark. I found this quite the page turner, and I would highly recommend it to other readers - don't believe the naysayers as they are totally wrong. I know that the characters will remain bright in my memory. Bravo Z.A. Maxfield for a stunningly lovely book!

The writing of this book, inclusive of the name, is in direct response to God's instructions. The writer believes that God allowed her to have the specific experiences shared, out of which the burden for this book emerged. The underlying philosophy is that God does not want His children to retire. He wants them to re-tyre, put on new and different 'tyres', in order to continue to be active in His service. It is a book that can help all age groups, but especially those over forty. The concern is for the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and financial health of senior persons in general and Christians in particular. The author shares some of her personal experiences in order to remind readers that God has a plan for all the seasons of their lives. You need to choose His plan for the senior years, because it is superior. FOR HIS NAME SAKE, you must prepare for re-tyrement. You need to finish strong. Author: Dr. Shirley CadoganDr. Cadogan has been a Christian for most of her life, and has functioned in almost every position in the Wesleyan Holiness Church of Trinidad and Tobago. She has been involved in training workers in the church for over thirty years, and worked in the Public Service for thirty-five years. She was specifically called of God to re-tyre early while serving as a Budget Supervisor in the Ministry of Finance. Following the Instructions of God, she went on to earn a Bachelor, Master then a Ph.D. degree in Christian Education. She has been a part-time lecturer at the Caribbean Nazarene College, Trinidad and Tobago, since 2003.

Me, I 'm from a family of 19 kids, the middle one. I have grade 2 education therefore I don't read and write so good. We grew up poor and I was always hungry. I was told that I was ugly and stupid. Papa kicked me out of my home at the age of 15 and I had to fend for myself. Because of what I went through, it made me the man I am today. This is a true story of how you can rise above your upbringing, not use it as an excuse for your situation but OVERCOME your past, not letting it dictate to your future. You drive your own ship... the choice you make today will affect your future. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Since retiring again in 2004, Arthur decided to write this book. Because of his grade 2 education he told his stories to a ghost writer who in turn put them on paper. How Arthur speaks, that is how the book is written. (or The book depicts Arthur"s speech as close as possible to him.)

By DJ 4/5 Rating Originally posted at https://mylifemybooksmyescape.wordpress.com/2015/10/28/comic-book-review-starve-5-starve-5-by-brian-wood/And so this brings us to the end of Starve season one. While this wasn't the most action-packed or tension-filled issued, one thing it did have was plot twists. Multiple jaw dropping plot twists!I'm going to go light on the plot and this is going be a brief review in general because, incase you haven't started reading any of the series yet, I don't want to spoil anything.Starve #5 is a continuation of last week's "Kitchen Battle". Gavin is now at the Master Paleo Bbq, which is head by Chef Iz, who is actually on old friend. At the same time Gavin's battle is going on, Angie is with Sheldon at a bar talking about her father, and trying to figure out what to do about him and her mother. Starve5_PreviewPage Starve5_PreviewPage2 Starve5_PreviewPage3After finishing this issue, I don't even know what think anymore. There were character actions that left me speechless, revealings of certain information that made me reevaluate character motives, and a couple particularly shocking moments that will have serious effects on the direction on the plot. Now that I think of it, this fells like the first time, we have had an issue that was heavy on the plot - and it was nice. I don't want to try to give any hints as to what might happen, but just WOW. Aside from the plot, again we have a focus on Gavin's character. It seem likes every issue is mainly focused on developing this man, but we need it. Gavin is a complex, deeply flawed individual, living with the pain of guilt and regret. And whether he likes it or not, his daughter, Angie, is stuck in between this battle between him Greer. Starve5_PreviewPage4Throughout the series, we have only been hearing Greer's sides of their story, and in this issue, we still don't have Gavin's, but we doget Angie's recollection of what happened. And in my opinion, that changed everything. One thing that bothered me is that Sheldon comes back and is hanging with Angie and says Gavin is almost his best friend. Nothing wrong with that, but it seemed very out-of-place. I can't recall Sheldon even being in the last two issue or having that big a role if he did. But I'm assuming more will be explained later.Weirdly enough, with all the shocking turn of events and major plot twists, I was left feeling underwhelmed with ending. All that hype leading up, and the last page made me say "that's it?" Don't get me wrong, I am beyond excited for the next part of the series to see what next season has in store and to see where the Gavin's story is going to go now. But recent events have me a little confused as to where that direction may be. Super excited, but slightly confused about what will happen now.Issue #1 (my review) may have started out as a story about a chef trying to regain control of his hit TV show, but it has slowly been evolving well beyond that, and this issue was a set in a new direction.Starve Volume 1 comes out January 2016, and I'd recommend checking it out.4/5 RatingStarve Vol. 1 (Starve #1-5): 4/5 Rating-DJ

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Enjoyable read, with a few suggestions. By Gena I noticed some issues with this book, but for a first time author, I was pleased with it.The good:1.) I enjoyed the characters, and strongly disliked a few of them, which speaks to being descriptive, I think.2.) The plot was believable, for the most part, with a few odd decisions made by some that had me puzzled.3.) There were very few grammar/spelling errors in the book, which can be highly distracting to me when reading a book.4.) I sat down and read most of it in a couple sittings, and was excited to see how it progressed. Didn't get bored. The bad:1.) Girls are just fluff in this book, and I didn't like that. The only ones that really got more than just-in-passing description were the mean, unattractive bitch and the needy, clingy one. Both negative characters.2.) Didn't really make sense that the immediate reaction was "Welp, guess we're staying here for now." I cannot imagine that most people would be content with that and not risk it, going back to the city, to check on friends, family, and neighbor.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Not a bad read, but could be better. By Mentega Monyet Full disclosure: I received an advance copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. The opinions below are entirely my own.A large group of friends head to the woods for a party weekend campout, but the fun is cut short when towns and cities are obliterated by bombs. The group must now go from a few days of partying together to counting on one another for long-term survival. While tensions mount between opposing personalities, they must also face danger from other survivors, the elements, and an evil entity that is picking them off, one by one. There are some good ideas in here. A group of people who only expected to be together for a few days, and instead have to rely on one another for an indefinite period of time just to survive seems a compelling idea. But although the premise could be interesting, the characters are poorly fleshed-out, aren't easy to differentiate, and I didn't find even the protagonist that interesting. The characters aren't all good or all bad, which is expected in real life; but what drives them, why they are the way they are, how they grow in the situation they find themselves in - these are all left relatively unexplored. Instead they seem to spend an overwhelming amount of time getting high with their seemingly endless supply of pot, and arguing among themselves over nothing. I would have liked to have more back story and insight into the characters' thoughts and motivations.A big issue for me was that the female characters are treated as somewhat of an afterthought, only there so that the male characters can have sex with them. I would have loved to see a woman who wasn't extremely peripheral, and only described in terms of how do-able the males thought they were.Aside from the characters foraging in the same spot for months on end without depleting the landscape, the survival part seemed believable enough, but I feel that if it had been described in more detail other than "they went hunting" or "they went foraging", it would have gone a long way to making the book more enjoyable. And while the evil entity lurking about and killing characters here and there did pique my interest, how it was finally vanquished was hurried, confusing, and just outright unbelievable. All in all, the subject matter is interesting even if not very well done here. I feel that "After The End" has promise, but some heavy shortcomings. It could have been a masterpiece, but seems to be more of a quick napkin sketch.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I enjoyed how it combined post-apocalyptic survival realism with a bit ... By Amazon Customer I enjoyed how it combined post-apocalyptic survival realism with a bit of occult mystery. It kept me turning the pages, and then the ending was satisfying enough to make it feel like a worthwhile read.

I'd prefer the prankster to be older. But if you prefer older, you are out of luck because they mature. But I am not reviewing Book 1. I am reviewing BOOK 2. I accidently hit the submit review and sent an unfinished review. So I am going to continue where I left off. Book 2 suggestions: Add me as someone who cannot be pranked because I am too smart. Let the griefer call me a random name because I don't know why. Also please add me as a fave reviewer.BONUS CONTENT: Nuke City detective stories. The Ron family and the bank got stolen by Usher Damon Krey! Help Detective Rage find where Usher Damon Krey is.Rage says, "This is as easy as pie." and searches the internet for clues OR answers. However, none of them seemed to make sense. They are just useless ads and information. "Looks like they know his name, but not his destination." Says Rage. So he decided to go out and look for clues. He saw footprints from the stolen Ron family house. He followed them until he saw the stolen bank. He tried to follow the footprints but they ended near the bank. The ground is made out of sand and dirt so there should be footprints but there is none. Rage went inside the bank.

Not only did the story of a fun - loving, mischievious young griefer and his serious older brother make an excellent book, I learned a ton of cool pranks. (Heh heh heh.) I have begun a mission to review all your new releases. You deserve a lot more Awesome Reviewers than are on your list! Now back to the book. I think this one may be one of your best. It was the ideal length, with tons of detail. I noticed zip typos. And most of all, each one of the characters stood out and was really believable. Please, please, please make a sequel!

They tend to focus too much on romance, have an annoying Mary Sue or two, or lack a balance between dark & light-hearted moments. Fantasy novels are by definition meant to have the primary focus on the magical elements, of an immersive world of beautiful & horrible creatures and gods. This is exactly the case with this novel. While there are some romantic elements to the book, DeCenzo makes sure to not let them overtake the main focus of this book: a girl being thrust into beautiful, terrible new reality where magical societies struggle to survive in a world that is quickly being taken from them by humanity (as well as the meddling of another individual but I don't want to spoil that for you). No character within this novel is perfect and without their flaws (even among the main protagonists). There are some truly lovable characters that are difficult not to love, but at the same time they still have their dark sides. On the converse, one of the most despicable and sociopathic characters I have ever come across still has a soul. Lastly, I find that the seriousness of the novel does not overtake and is not overtaken by some of the more warm or humorous moments. DeCenzo manages to balance the two at the right moments without losing the novel's immersion. I found myself being drawn in by the suspense of the novel just as much as I found myself smiling at the more light-hearted situations. In short, I highly recommend FoxWyck for any fan of fantasy.

By Sean Le Generally a very entertaining novel, it opened rather typical like most protagonists tossed into a magical/mythical scene and that's where the pace is very slow. It starts to takes shape as we head towards mid-story, as expected after background and main characters have relatively been explained. The author does an excellent job giving the spotlight to each of the characters even if not part of the main cast. The approach is serious, moderately dark, with bits of very lighthearted details. The environment is a mix of technology with mythology, magic is rather low-key and doesn't play a primary role at the moment, yet hints on its focus later on. However the technology is in an odd set of WWI to completely futuristic of advance warfare, which has a bit of awkward presentation to how the beginning tries to establish it, so you'll generally be surprised by how it jumps. As far as dialogue goes, it has an entertaining tendency from being professional to crude which gives the characters a proper wide-spectrum of personality and emotions instead simply characterizing a single character to a specific archetype, simply it makes them more human. The end of the story takes the cake as it has a very warm comforting feel and draws you in potential character development that you anticipate for the next book.

When worlds collide… Two years ago death drove Aiden Taylor from UK shores and now death has drawn him back. Mourning the loss of his wife, he is returning to bury his father-in-law and support the remaining members of her family – her mother, Lily and sister, Leo. Coming home on the same plane is Isabella, enthusiastic and with a zest for life, she is in many ways the opposite of him. Realising his history, she tries to fight the instant attraction she feels but her thoughts linger long after they’ve landed. Leo is distraught – she’s lost her sister and her beloved father too. Her boyfriend Damien should be a comfort but he is far from it. Instead, it is Aiden she increasingly comes to rely on. In grief they understand each other. Unable to forget her encounter with the ‘perfect stranger’, Isabella heads to Cornwall to track him down but, as three worlds collide, tragedy threatens to strike again… Set in North Cornwall and featuring members from the popular Runaway series – Joseph, Layla, Hannah, Jim and Mick – The Return can be read as a standalone novel or as the third and final book in the trilogy.

From the Inside Flap By the time he arrived at Penryn, Aiden was exhausted. Barely even able to see the road ahead of him, he pulled aside on a couple of occasions en route to fill his lungs with deep breaths of cold, fresh air. He'd driven these roads exhausted before - in search of Tara. When she discovered she had a brain tumour she hadn't told him. Instead, she'd left the flat they shared in Lyons Bay; had run, leaving nothing but a note full of nonsense words, that explained nothing. Angry and bewildered - he hadn't known there was anything wrong between them, hadn't known there was anything wrong at all - he had let her run. He'd tried to convince himself she wasn't the girl he thought she was if she could behave in such a callous manner. And then he had stopped listening to that victim residing in his head - told him to shut the hell up - she was who he thought she was, she was Tara, the love of his life. So he had run too, all the way to England, to the only place he could think she'd be - her parents' house. That's where he had found her, that's where she had broken the news to him. "You have reached your destination." The Sat Nav interrupted his reverie. "I'm aware of that, thanks," he muttered, leaning over to turn it off. How he wished he hadn't wasted so much time beforehand, but had trusted his instinct, trusted her. They would have had more precious time together. He didn't blame Tara for not confiding in him, he knew the rationale behind her thinking. She was literally running scared; afraid she'd become a burden. But that was something she could never be. No, he didn't blame her, but himself. He'd never forgive himself for allowing doubt to creep in. Taking a deep breath he looked over at her parents' house - a quintessentially English detached cottage with a thatched roof and whitewashed walls. Its purple door was the only indication how special the people inside it were, something out of the ordinary. It was Tara's childhood home - where she'd been born and where she had died. Where would he sleep? He knew they'd make up a bed for him in the second of the living rooms downstairs, but to be honest he didn't mind sleeping in Tara's old bedroom, their room as it became in her final few months. He'd do anything to feel closer to her - despite the pain. The door to the cottage flew open and Leo came tearing down the path. At the sight of her, his chest seemed to constrict. She was so much like her older sister. She had the same heart shaped face, same slim, compact build. Her hair was a natural shade of blonde, however. Tara had liked to bleach hers, and had kept it short and spiky, which was a look that suited the clothes she wore - miniskirts, tank tops, baseball boots, an edgy look. Leo was more casual and her hair was long, flowing well past her shoulders. But that was the only difference. As she drew closer, he still couldn't breathe. If only, he thought, if only...

A Romance with Depth and a Great Heorine By peagreen A really good read - a romance with depth and an unusual heroine - her honesty is just perfect for the story and balances out the two other, more emotionally scarred characters, perfectly. I love stories that contain more than one point of view as this does - and that too is very well balanced out , the pace rattles along and keeps you guessing every step of the way. Loved all the characters but Aiden was my favourite, a true wounded hero! Although this can be read as a standalone I have read the first two Runaways and this rounded it all off beautifully. I shall miss the Runaways but can always read them again. The Cornish setting was also wonderful, fantastically atmospheric. I know the author writes paranormal too (which I also love) but please keep writing this sort of story too!

Beautifully rendered tale of mourning and moving on By Raven Though certainly romantic, witty, and whimsical enough for the beach this summer, this is not your typical "light" read. It starts a bit heavy, rather, with Aiden and Leo coping with their grief. The whole situation has a haunting Rebecca quality to it, actually, the way Tara (Aiden's wife and Leo's sister) is deceased yet still so present.A new character in the series, though, balances out the sadness with her innocent energy--Isabella's honesty and self-deprecation are like a fresh breeze of cool, Cornish sea air. These characteristics warmed me up to her as an "outsider" when I was otherwise admittedly wary that the story wouldn't focus on the characters I'd grown used to in the first two books. I thought I would really miss them, but Aiden, Leo, and Isabella readily come into their own with intriguing new conflicts (and soon enough the original characters are woven back in beautifully, so I didn't have to miss them for long!). By now, after all, Layla and Joseph (the romantic leads of books two and three) have had their trials as a couple and deserve to settle into domestic peace--as do Hannah and Jim. But it's perfect how these past relationship conflicts are so smoothly tied in with the present ones, in a way that gives backstory and a nice nod to the previous books but also provides meaningful empathy and advice for the leads this time around. Those candid moments are so lovely.I was also very pleased with how everything is ultimately resolved. There are very delicate emotions and dynamics to navigate here, so I honestly didn't know how Struthers would pull it together, but she does so with brilliant sensitivity, tact, and--very importantly--believability. The relationships are too complicated to tie up in a bow in one fell swoop, so I really appreciate the careful development that went into this, delivering an ending that satisfies without selling out. This is the third book in The Runaway Series, but works well as a standalone. So you don't have to read The Runaway Year and The Runaway Ex to be up to speed for The Return--but you'll probably want to after enjoying this one so much! I definitely vouch for this series, start to finish. :)

He finds her annoying and gives away nothing other than the fact he's a widower.Aiden has come back to England for his father-in-law's funeral to comfort his late wife's sister and her mother.Isabella contrives a plan to go to Cornwall and see Aiden again. She is met with a mixture of curiosity and animosity.Ms Struthers has written an emotionally evocative tale of love lost, obsession and moving on. It struck a chord with me as death of a loved one is something I'm unfortunate enough to have experienced. Aiden is haunted by Tara's presence and her apparent hold on his heart. Isabella intrigues him, but can he find the courage and emotional strength to embrace new love?
