James Traill Lyon is often separated for a long period of time from the object of his admiration, the lovely, intelligent and much younger Kathy. But his mind and spirit are unaffected by the distances and he waits patiently for Kathy to say "yes" to his marriage proposal. In the meantime, to ease his longing for her, he makes her part of his life by writing to her as frequently as he can, giving her a detailed account of his busy and lonely life. And then, Kathy does say yes, and the wedding is planned, and this reader will say no more as it would be a spoiler for the very last letter in this book.
