We were young boys when war broke out in our country. We had been living peacefully with our families in different villages. Then the armies from the north attacked, and we ran for our lives. We escaped with hundreds of other young boys, running from the dangers we had just seen into dangers we had never witnessed before. We kept each other alive as we fled to freedom. This book is the record of our escape.

The story, told in stunning art work, is truly educational, a true story of survival against overwhelming odds. It's sometimes hard to imagine that these boys had to endure so much suffering in order to obtain what we may take for granted, our freedom and democracy. Well done, James Disco, well done, indeed.

Very Educational By Michael Rogers I had known about the genocide in Sudan since the 90's and had already seen the videos God Grew Tired of Us and the Lost Boys but I still learned a lot about the events that led the Sudanese to flee to Kakuma. I recommend this graphic novel.
