I am always on the lookout for a good story that involves horses in some way. This book definitely had horses, and, combined with the romance, made for an interesting read....there is an interesting twist in the story. The author did an excellent job of developing each character and portraying the emotional journey they each took in the story. The plot was interesting, and the story flowed as new pieces of information were revealed about each of the characters in this book. The character's lives are so intertwined, and at every turn there was a new twist that threw another emotional wringer into the mix. I was frustrated at times, and sympathetic at others, by the many obstacles that Megan and Brett faced, and how they reacted to them. This book is definitely one that I would recommend if you like a story with surprise twists and enjoy a good love story with a lot of emotion involved. Rating: 5 stars Enjoy! Kim
From the Author I loved writing this book and watching the characters take on a life of their own! I think Megan and Brett will always be special to me, because they had many difficult obstacles to overcome on their long road to a lasting love. This is the first book in my Crystal Springs Homecoming Romance series. Watch for Coming Home, July 2015, and A Home for Haley, Fall 2015.I hope you enjoy these stories! As a long time romance reader, I look forward to every new book by Mary Jane, and LONG ROAD HOME has been worth the wait! Megan and Brett are well-rounded, complex characters, facing real world problems, and their discovery of a forever love with each other is believable, thrilling, and fraught with complications. The author gave her hero and heroine genuine conflict that was not easily overcome on either side. This emotional conflict is woven into the story with real skill. Secondary characters (like Meg's sister, Lauren, and Brett's mom, Dot) add depth and richness to the story, too. I can't wait to read the second book in this series...and the third and hopefully, even a fourth! LONG ROAD HOME is going on my keeper shelf -- well, with my Kindle keepers, anyway! I'm happy to have found this author and this book (isn't the cover gorgeous?) and I'm truly looking forward to Mary Jane's next Crystal Springs story.

The emotional conflict is well developed and believable-it pulled me in and held me as I rooted for them to succeed by overcoming obstacles. The characters, setting, and dialogue are rich and believable.The author either did her research or knows her stuff which adds authenticity to her story and makes it very engaging. I enjoyed this book a great deal and was satisfied with the ending. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a story full of twists and turns, sex, mystery, and true love. This book has it all and more! It is like a modern day Romeo and Juliet set on a horse farm. I would give this a solid four stars.Amanda Siemen
