Do you crave unoffending fiction? A wholesome snack that's low in friction? If so, inside you'll find the words A greasy feast of tasteless turds But those for crass and bawdy wit Will savor every bite of shit! Welcome to Possum Holler, Mississippi, where critters are served on a stick… and might be related to whatever’s been getting in your trash bin. Home of the chaw chewin, stank walkin, pill swillin, leg missin, finger in a belly, punch you in the damn mouth cuz I done TOLD you bout BREATHIN when i’m WATCHIN THE WRASLIN…Cobblepotts: the most delightful redneck couple you’d never invite over for supper. Meet Patty Cobblepott: a certified Yak of a woman. Fueled on potted meat and Mountain Dew, she’ll roll her breasts up and push a Plymouth clear to the freeway, with the E-brake on, and then make balloon animals out of rebar. Her softness of brain is equally mighty; Patty meets all legal requirements for retardation. Meet Otis Cobblepott: a well-bearded, Southern sociopath, more than willing to step on man, woman, or child—preferably woman or child—to pursue a sudden flight of fancy. He’s slightly smarter than Patty, but slightly dumber than a Guinea Pig. He enjoys critter documentaries, lawn mower racing, sturdy women, and getting one over on Patty. Tag along as the Cobblepotts redefine absurdity and turn simple misunderstandings into barn burning blowouts. Can the world survive such an outrageous pair? Can they even survive each other? Peel back the many, ridiculous layers of this hillbilly onion; you may be disturbed to find that--at the core--the Cobblepotts are a lot like you. Southern rooted, pants poopingly hilarious, more clever than your mom, riddled with the best limericks of your life, obscene at times, violent at others, dark and cynical throughout; it’s really kind of a romantic comedy, if that’s possible. It either curb stomps the entire idea of relationships, or offers observations as a bit of hope; you'll have to decide which. One thing's for sure; it's not for the faint of heart. So put grandma to bed, crate your children, and open wide for a whole mess of unfiltered ignorance.

Bred like two wolverines mating in a burlap sack, their southern antics will raise the hackles on any who meet them. Jacks has the gift for descriptive characters, entertaining you with the life story of two people who would run over a pedestrian and only stop to make sure they weren't stuck in the grille of their hoopty. If you don't laugh over their choice of pets, television viewing, how this pair met...you need an enema. Laugh out loud funny in a completely inappropriate way. I wouldn't let my kids read it, but I've read it out loud to several friends who laughed so hard they cried. Hurray for the insanity!

If you are a person who is offended easily, this book is NOT for you. But if you know how to take a joke, and can appreciate it for what it is, then you will love Bill Jacks’ hilarious short story. The Cobblepotts prove that there is, indeed someone for everyone. They are lovable (from a distance, thank you) in their willful ignorance and frightening stupidity. It’s like watching a train wreck. You can’t not look at the travesty playing out before your eyes. The writing flows naturally in a stream of conscious style, and is crafted to near perfection. I particularly enjoyed the tongue in cheek poetry.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A good laugh out loud story By Darrell B Nelson This rambling stream of consciousness story works well. It reminds me of a Mark Twain short story, the title I can't remember, where a man asks a famous person in town about something leading to a tale of everything but what he asked. This tale of a strange relationship had me giggling out loud the entire time I was reading it. The free flowing chain of memories was tied together with a voice that made the absurd seem normal, therefore even more funny. This tale told mainly by the semi-literate Patty Cobblepott was an absolute breeze to read. Even for those of us who aren't fluent in redneck. If you want a good laugh out loud story, you can't go wrong with this one.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. of course--can't have a good tale without them By GA Constant Reader The Cherry Pie Islanders are back for another thoroughly enjoyable installment in Jenny Oliver's engaging series. This time, the friends (and their adversaries, of course--can't have a good tale without them!) find themselves looking at the ins and outs of what exactly makes possible enduring friendships. This makes perfect reading for relaxing on a hot summer's day with a tall cool drink and maybe even a slice of cherry pie. There is one small yet distracting issue with Ms. Oliver's writing. Perhaps this is more an editorial issue, but it makes me a bit crazy when the improper use (or, abuse) of pronouns consistently shows up in these books. For example, "Holly called from France to say that her and Wilf would be back the weekend of the show..." Surely this should be "she and Wilf", yes? Unfortunately, this is not an isolated occurance. I don't want to be the grammar police, but while I do more and more frequently hear this type of error in the conversations of younger folks, wouldn't a good editor pick up on these and correct the work? I know--it's a small thing, but I find myself repeatedly being rudely jerked back into reality when coming across these errors instead of being blissfully able to stay with the lovely inhabitants of Cherry Pie Island. All in all, though, these are fun and thoughtful stories, well worth the time to read each and every book Jenny Oliver has written. Thanks, Jenny, and please keep writing!

By Jeff Jellets Pledged is pledged.Wytches: Volume 1 chills like an icy whisper of wind across the back of your neck as you walk alone through a dark forest. Atmospheric and original … author Scott Synder’s script unleashes a dark, earthy terror that is both new – yet primal – while artists Jock and Hollinsworth deliver a motion picture-like experience from the cheery to grainy grim – the splotched watercolor effect feeling like old celluloid and reminiscent of the found footage style of horror film-making.The opening pages are disturbingly visceral – in terms of both the primeval setting and on the human relational level – and you should be completely hooked (and uneasy) by end of the first scene. And while the opening chapters of Wytches threaten to be an impossible jigsaw of the macabre, Synder wisely hammers the ghoulish and gruesome into order, developing a mature (and amazingly heartfelt) story, where all the pieces fit. This is mythos building, and Synder’s creature designs (and their black symbiosis with humanity) is reminiscent of the monster-making Bram Stroker did in Dracula complete with a Van Helsing-esque opposition. Wytches hits that same vein, introducing a new terror to the genre ... that, at the same time, also seems like it’s a horror that has actually been around for a very, very long time, lurking on the borders of the human subconscious, waiting for some intrepid soul to give it name and give it form.Everything about this book is so good … from the warped designs of the monsters to the amazingly well-developed characters … even the trade-dress is well done, with the full-page covers of the monthly comics acting as chapter dividers. It is also, probably, one of those comic series that reads best as a collection rather than in single issues … where the mood and twisty-turny plotting is uninterrupted and delivered all at once … like a blockbuster movie. And like the best movies – while the door is certainly open for sequels -- Wytches also stands alone as a self-contained masterpiece.I read Wytches at night, in a cabin in the woods, when the rain fell heavily. It is a book best saved for those types of nights, when the shadows of the trees play across the walls of your bedroom and you hope – you pray – that those noises you hear -- chit-chit-chit -- is just branches scraping glass.

Nah, honestly he tells an amazingly creepy story accentuated by Jock's strong artwork. The story centers on this strange version of the classic witch tale and a family dealing with this insane world. At times the story goes back in forth in reality and time which can cause confusion. I also wish the story was in black and white because the colors seem overpowering in certain panels. Overall, a very good book.

Art work is also great. Only complaint is that, not the drawings but the coloring is sometimes this weird splash of light. The art makes the story hard to follow sometimes because it's hard to tell what is going on when the drawings are obscured by these weird dark and light splashes that seem like they are meant to give a horror movie tone.

A hardened group of survivors fights back against a zombie plague that has brought down civilization. With the world consumed by a devastating plague that drives humans violently insane, what was once a band of desperate survivors bobbing on a dark Atlantic ocean has now become Wolf Squadron, the only hope for the salvation of the human race. Banding together with what remains of the U.S. Navy, Wolf Squadron, and its leader Steve Smith, not only plans to survive—he plans to retake the mainland from the infected, starting with North America. The next step: produce a vaccine. But to do that, Wolf Squadron forces led by Smith’s terrifyingly precocious daughters Sophia and Faith must venture into a sea of the infected to obtain and secure the needed materials. And if some of the rescued survivors turn out to be more than they seem, Smith just might be able to pull off his plan. I am a retired Army Infantry senior NCO, a retired Police Chief (it was a small department but it was all mine) and a retired Federal employee. Retired three times qualifies as old. I started reading science fiction when I was about 10 so that was almost sixty (FREAKING!!!!) years ago. When I was young, my favorite author was Robert Heinlein. There was nothing he wrote that i didn't devour and reread over and over again. He literally was with me during a lot of traumatic times and I really believe that i was a better man for knowing Robert Heinlein's works. Now I am old and I spend a great deal of time reading John Ringo who is every bit as influential with me as heinlein ever was. This is just another great series by John Ringo. I canb't rate this one any higher than any of his other novels because each and every one of them is at the top of my all time favorite list. I reread all of them.

Especially book 1 "Under a Graveyard Sky", as it lays the foundation. You CAN skip book 2, but if you enjoyed book 1 why would you?If you do enjoy a military heavy approach to the Zombie Apocalypse, this is the book for you. No magic, no fuss.If you believe teenagers are dangerous and teenage girls should qualify under WMD protocols, this book is for you.If you like a twisted sense of humor, then you should have been reading this series already.Sex is handled off screen, although there is one long discussion surrounding teenagers and sex that is a bit hilarious as they try to deal with...I don't want to give it away. Immaculate is the word. Some fun with stereotypes..."Do you know who I am?","Do you know what this is...?"You will laugh. You may cry.I cannot wait until December for the next book!!!!!I just realized I didn't talk about my rating of the book. In my humble opinion...I chose 4 instead of 5 stars because this book does not stand well by itself. I LOVED this book, but I do not feel it can be appreciated fully without reading the previous books.

Remes Bought this direct from Baen.tl;dirRingo delivers another solid entry in his "zombie" series, but his focus on minutia lowers this book to 3 stars.** SPOILERS **Book 2 left us with the intrepid Wolf Squadron leaving the Canaries to mount an attack on Gitmo. The goal is to get a real lab going so they can start producing vaccine and inoculate the submariners. It promised to be exciting. Finally, the submariners could get involved building zombie death boxes out of CONEX and start taking back the planet! The action might actually move to mainland USA!What we got instead was a David-Weber-like focus on military counseling sessions for Lt. Faith and more descriptions of the same clearance operations that were already done to death in the first two books. (Weber is famous for having entire chapters devoted to multiple characters sitting around a table detailing their dastardly plans and demonstrating their own rank hypocrisy while Our Heroes get their own chapters to have the same long conversations detailing how they will defeat the Bad Guys. Plus, Weber rarely advances the plot even over an 800+ page book. See his Safehold series; 7 books long and they are still steam powered.)The odd thing about the book is that quite a few cool plot advancements took place, but they got short shrift.* They cleared and freed Gitmo.* They landed a SpaceX ship on a Caribbean island and got some real doctors & scientists back.* They got some helicopters working.* Lots of babies started getting born.* They rescued Prince (King?) Harry from the Tower of London.* We finally learn who "Tom Walker" really is. (I won't spoil that in this review.)However, the Gitmo clearance happens in a day. Clearing the island for the spaceship to land takes 2 days. Rescuing the Prince/King takes a week of travel plus one day of operations. Tally up all of the pages describing these ops and it *feels* like it's about 15% of the book. The rest of the book contains multiple long conversations with, or about, Faith and how she needs to work with the new Marines from Gitmo. Finally, the author makes it crystal clear that Faith would have *no chance* at actually being a Marine in the old world because she couldn't hack it physically or scholastically. She's a good fit for fighting zombies, but she won't be officer material for another 5+ years. Whew, glad some characters finally admitted this. There is also a completely superfluous sub-plot regarding the contestants of "Survivor: Caribbean" getting rescued after months and months of being locked in an old spy station on the island. Ringo loves his gorgeous ladies, so we get a bunch of useless pages (because the story is so repetitive from prior books) describing how they survived, and now they pull the whole "Do you know who I am?" crap once rescued. It beggars belief that after 6+ months of hand-to-mouth survival that this particular attitude would also survive. This is 5-10% of the book where we didn't need the detail and the ideas have already been covered in prior books (Ishman, Hollywood exec who spanks Faith, etc.).And ultimately, that's my main beef with the book. The plot could have advanced quite a bit more but instead we are treated to more Marine PT, more Marine drama with Faith, chapters wasted on describing a rather dull trip from the Canaries to Gitmo, more of the same descriptions of clearing towns (we had a whole book of this in book 2), and other minutia. We get a (nearly) daily journal of events when it would be better to have entire weeks or months pass between chapters. I fully anticipate Ringo will be tired of this story long before the final chapters are delivered (see his "Troy Rising" series).

Read about the trust these women had in God's provision for their happiness By Amazon Customer I enjoy reading a clean fun story that I can escape in for a little while. Mail order brides have intrigued me because of the unknown about what these young woman were walking into and the faith that they had in God to provide a love worth the risk. This was a good book and I enjoyed reading it. The story line left me wanting to read more by this author.

Good Reading By Jerbear This book lets the reader feel some of the doubts and feelings that must have been present as couples came together, first through letters and then in person. This story is a relative short one but still was well written and leaves the reader wanting more. I liked it and will look for more stories from this author. If you want a short story that makes you feel good, I would recommend this one!

SHE WAS A LARGER WOMAN AND HE WAS A GENTLE FAITH FILLED MAN By Dorothy Hendrickson When Lucy stepped off the train she was a larger woman than Levi had expected. She did not tell him that she was a heavy set woman. There is another woman that showed up even after she was not invited. Clara has a problem that she needs to overcome if she expects to be taken for a serious prospect for a wife for any decent man. When you read this story you will understand what I mean.

Teen Titans: Earth One Vol. 1, by Jeff Lemire

From School Library Journal Gr 10 Up—In this reboot of the DC Comics series, readers learn the origins of the Titans as reimagined for a new DC universe called Earth One. Four teens living seemingly normal lives in suburban Oregon have their worlds turned upside down when super powers are thrust upon them. They quickly realize that they are experiencing similar visions that seem to be related to their new powers. The young people ban together to uncover the secret behind these visions and new abilities. Little do they know that this secret will change not only their lives but the entire course of human history. This revamp of Teen Titans will appeal to avid comic book fans and readers new to the genre, making it an excellent addition to any library's graphic novel collection. Readers who have enjoyed other "Earth One" titles such as Batman and Superman, will surely enjoy this volume. It is also an excellent introduction to the those who are unfamiliar with comics and this franchise. The illustrations are vibrant and detailed. On each page, there are visual allusions to the secret which haunts each of the protagonists. The text and art will keep readers guessing until the very end. This first installment is an excellent opener to a promising graphic novel series. It does contain violence, alcohol use, and minor sexual situations, making it appropriate for older teens.—Annalise Ammer, City of Rochester Public Libraries, NY

By Richard Teen Titans: Earth One has the daunting task of reimagining the origins of the Teen Titans most memorable characters. Overall it does a decent job of reintroducing this cast of familiar faces. As seen in the cover image for the book, the main cast consists of Cyborg, Beast Boy (aka Changeling), Terra, Jericho, Starfire, and Raven. In this new origin story they tie the team together with a single origin story to explain their powers and how they know each other. This choice isn't necessarily bad as it keeps things simple and easy to follow, it also allows the writers to tie the heroes and villains together. The new characterizations for the cast is a little bit of a mixed bag. Perhaps the most jarring example is Cyborg's characterization as a slacker punk, which is pretty much the polar opposite of his classic personality. Beast Boy and Raven's characterizations however are nice and feel appropriate. At no time does Raven being reimagined as a Native American feel wrong, with the writers thankfully avoiding any negative stereotypes. Sadly most of the villains are much less compelling and have the feeling of being expendable fodder, although Slade's new rendition has a nice personality showing him to be dangerous but reasonable (although I hate his new costume design).Overall the story itself is decent, focusing primarily on introducing the lives of the cast, having their status quo get shaken up by their powers, and then stumbling head first into the evil conspiracy behind it all. I do have to say that I'm disappointed in the writers continuing the trend of having nothing new to add to Jericho's characterization. Since he was introduced DC has just never seemed to really have a real plan for him, and this book simply seems to retread old ground with his character. On the other hand it is very clear that Raven is going to play a big part in things to come, and without the baggage of the whole Trigon angle things seem very fresh for her.As an origin story the book does its job of introducing the cast, establishing the origin of their abilities, and laying out that they have stumbled into a world of danger that they weren't ready for. The book isn't without its flaws, and shows the typical growing pains of rebooting back to day one of a story. Overall however, when it was all over I asked myself if I wanted to read the next part of the story, and the answer is very much yes.

Graphic Novel Review: "Teen Titans: Earth One Volume One" By ERSInk . com DC Comics continues their crusade to pull in new and youthful readers with “Teen Titans: Earth One Volume One.” The publisher’s fresh visions of Batman and Superman were major hits on the New York Times Bestseller’s List, so they’re doing something right. Its target audience will no doubt embrace the book thanks to Jeff Lemire’s knack for identifying with and communicating the angst and feelings of awkwardness many adolescents deal with.Five seemingly normal teenagers from different walks of life find themselves being drawn together by an unexplainable and powerful force. Each one is struck by disturbing visions and given an extraordinary “gift” which they consider a curse. The group of misfits soon finds themselves the target of a deadly scientific group looking to bring them all in for experimentation and research.Writer Jeff Lemire takes a decades-old concept and breathes new life into it with “Teen Titans: Earth One Volume One.” I’m not entirely sure why the group needed a reboot since they just received one within the New 52 canon a few months ago. Either way, Lemire does a stupendous job fleshing out each of the characters and giving them their own dysfunctional backgrounds to pull young adults of all types in.Husband and wife team Terry and Rachel Dodson accent each other’s artistic talents perfectly within the pages of “Teen Titans: Earth One Volume One.” Terry does the penciling while Rachel inks his illustrations with the help of Cam Smith. Their work makes for a somewhat unique style which gives Lemire’s words the visual energy they deserve.“Teen Titans: Earth One Volume One” would merit a PG-13 rating in the world of cinema. There’s the usual comic book violence and peril we all expect. Some sensuality is found as well, with two of the main characters making out and hanging all over each other throughout the book.DC Comics has another hit on their hands with “Teen Titans: Earth One Volume One.” It has all the ingredients to keep young adults and even older readers coming back for more. A healthy dose of action, drama, and heavy anticipation for characters not seen yet will keep audiences hooked.

OK read that makes most sense if you already know the characters By Johanna Draper Carlson Like most relaunches, this story makes most sense if you already know the brand. The odd mix of abilities demonstrated here — dirt control (Terra), shape-shifting (Chameleon), body invasion by organic metal (Cyborg), Native American mysticism (Raven) — don’t stem organically from the premise — evil scientist organization experimenting on captured alien. These power sets exist because they’re from the … well, not original Teen Titans, those were superhero sidekicks, but from the most famous Pérez/Wolfman era.Like most series launches — the book is optimistically labeled Volume One — this is an origin story, a gathering of the troops to make a team. They’re all high schoolers together in Oregon — Tara (Terra, earth mover), Gar (Chameleon, changes shape into green animals), Vic (Cyborg, part living metal), Joey (Jericho, spoiler) — with the exception of Raven, who lives with her grandfather on a reservation in New Mexico. She was the standout character to me, and I’d have liked to have seen more from her than simply being used as a deus ex machina.Raven seemed to have the most potential, with a well-thought-out reworking (if a bit stereotypical). Originally, she was the daughter of a demon god. Here, while all the kids have parent problems, she has a reliable guardian and is the one whose origin is most changed from the previous, since she’s now a Navajo shaman who has visions. Plus, the Dodsons’ art makes her lovely while maintaining her air of mystery. They’re a good choice for a book about superhero teens, telling the story clearly and attractively.Writer Jeff Lemire does a good job making these modern-day teens believable, since they spend most of their time grumpy and disaffected. I never bought Tara and Victor as a couple, though, since that seemed too convenient and there’s no chemistry between them. All the kids have very similar voices, too. If you took the dialogue by itself, it would be difficult to know which one was saying what. The parents are callbacks to the original. Gar’s parents were Steve and Richard, while Tara’s mother was Rita, who drinks to avoid the knowledge of what they’re doing to the kids. Joey’s father turns into yet another Titans reference later on, while Vic’s mother, Dr. Stone, is the stereotypical mad scientist experimenting on her kid.The book has pacing issues. For example, I quibble with the opening. You have to get through six pages of muddled images, intercut with an equal number of black panels, captioned in an alien language to set up the premise, which we’re all familiar with from numerous other stories. I’d rather have started with the kids. And the book reaches a natural stopping point, with the team beginning to form, but like so many superhero stories, it’s clearly intended to continue, with many open questions. It’s a weird mix, more realistic characterization in what boils down to a 50s movie plot. It’s a decent read, if very familiar, but somewhat unsatisfying in that we don’t know whether or when we’ll see more. And if we do, one slim story a year requires a lot of patience for what should be a pulpy adventure read. Still, it’s true to the feeling of the famous New Teen Titans while modernizing the threat that brings them together and cutting the ties to the rest of the DC universe. No superhero sidekicks or second generations here, just kids coming to terms with abilities they didn’t want. (Review originally posted at ComicsWorthReading.com.)

Summer by the Sea is a beautiful, heart-warming summer read about sisters, first love and not always getting what we want – but sometimes ending up with exactly what we need.

They say there’s always one summer that changes you.

For Faith the one summer she can’t forget is when she fell in love as a teenager – only for her sister, Casey, to steal her man. Now, at the request of her beloved ninety-year-old Grandmother, Faith has agreed to a family holiday – at their childhood beach house, where it all began.

Faith hasn’t seen her sister in years but is finally ready to forgive and forget, enjoy the sunshine and relive happy memories. What she’s not ready for is meeting Jake Buchanan – the owner of the beach house – or the long-forgotten feelings he ignites in her.

Can Faith overcome the hurt of the past, rekindle the close bond she had with Casey and make this summer THE ONE to remember?

By Simona Elena *Book provided by the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*Jenny Hale is a wonderful author and her stories are always filled with magic, sparks and memorable moments. With The Summer by the Sea she has done a marvellous job again! The story follows kindergarden teacher Faith. I liked her from the start. The way she talked about her students and also some of her characteristics and memories made it easy for me to relate to her.Faith agreed to a family holiday at the beach house, they spent time at in Faith’s childhood. They all come together for grandma’s birthday. Faith is not looking forward to seeing her sister Casey after so many years. Casey stole her man Scott, is married to him and they have an adorable daughter. Scott has left Casey though and they are close to going through with their divorce. However, that is not what Casey wants. The sisters get to spend a lot of time together and both finally talk about what the really feel. When Faith meets Jake, she falls fast and hard for him. It’s the little things passing between them at first, and then their chemistry is amazing. Faith gets confused and scared though when she sees Casey flirting with Jake.Jake is wonderful. He’s a hobby handyman and works as a property developer. Taking her on a fancy date, makes Faith think. Is he really the right man for her, they seem to have different opinions about what do build up at the beach. Only later we learn what is behind it all. We find out about Jake’s past relationship and it all begins to make sense. He is also hesitant when it comes to being honest about his feelings, I just wanted to slap him, because his attraction to her was so obvious. This mystery made the story more griping and interesting of course ;)I loved this strong family bond in the story. The two sisters were finally able to talk and be there for each other and their nan was awesome. She always knew what was the matter and brought a great spark into it. Isabella is such a cute little girl. And the way Jake is with her – swoon! This wonderful and beautiful story is full of surprises! The Outer Banks are a marvellous setting and Jenny explained everything with so many details, just magical! I felt like being there with the characters. Jenny told me that there might be a place in this book for me and she was right! Key West, a place Jake has been to many times, but always alone. Also a place, Faith really wants to go to with someone special.I love reading about it, especially having been there only 2 months ago. It made their connection stronger, because they finally shared something and felt the same way about something.I really just wanted it to work out between them, I had to be patient, going through ups and downs – you’ll see what I mean and you have to read it yourselves to find out what happened in the end… Just one more thing – I thought the epilogue was really cute. This story has it all – a great location, wonderful characters, a strong family bond, cute, romantic and memorable moments, love and magic.

One of my most anticipated books of the year: Jenny Hale’s new Summer novel. Last year, Jenny’s summer book Love Me For Me earned the title as My Favourite Book of 2014, so to say I had high expectations for this one would be an understatement.Summer by the Sea follows the story of Faith and her family on their holiday to the Outer Banks. Faith hasn’t seen her sister, Casey, for some years, as she has never been able to forgive her for breaking her heart when they were younger, by stealing – and consequently marrying – the man Faith loved.Their Nan’s 90th birthday finds the family under one roof again, in a place that used to hold such wonderful memories for them all. So much has passed, and there’s so much they’re still going through, but Faith still doesn’t know if she can truly forgive Casey, or if Casey is really even sorry. On her first day, Faith meets Jake, and can’t help but find her falling for him fast. But is it really worth getting in to something when she’ll be gone in a couple of weeks? And even if it was, can they see past their differences?Jenny’s books are just such beautiful, realistic love stories, that they honestly melt my heart. Faith was so guarded, so affected by her past that she had built walls around herself, and she was scared of getting hurt. Jake too is haunted by his past, and doesn’t want history to repeat itself. It is also a wonderful story about the love of families, and the need to be there for one another. All the characters are flawed in their own way, but beautiful too. Nan had to be my favourite character of them all, so sweet and wise, and with all the wits I hope to have if I’m lucky enough to reach 90! Her ability to read her family, to care for them and help them, filled me with a nostalgic warmth for my own family, especially having never known a grandmother. This story truly tugged at my heartstrings, as I willed for both Faith and Casey to be able to repair their relationship, and for Faith and Jake to be able to make things work. Set in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina, it was impossible not to get swept away with them, as Jenny fills your senses with sun, sand and sea (and fishbowl cocktails!). I could just picture every scene, every house so vividly, it’s an absolutely perfect book to whisk you away this summer.

Jenny has such a beautiful way of writing its so vivid and evocative and the Outer Banks where the book was set was painted with such warmth, beauty and clarity, with incredible sun sets and gorgeous quaint seaside descriptions, I already want to pack my bags and fly out there to experience it myself.I loved the character of Faith, she was strong and passionate especially about her views and I loved her bravery and courage when dealing with family issues. It takes a special kind of person to put aside the betrayal of her sister and be there for her when times got tough and Jenny set this up beautifully. And although Casey, Faith's sister, is not painted in a particularly great light at the start of the story, through the warmth of Jenny's writing you do find yourself really liking Casey too, especially towards the end. I loved the character of Jake, it was impossible not to fall in love with him almost from the very beginning with his easy relaxed manner, impeccable manners and sweet, patient kindness, Jenny has this wonderful way of creating perfect heroes, that although might have their issues, you still fall in love with them regardless. The other characters of Martha, Nan, Isabella were a perfect accompaniment to the story, balancing out the innocence and sweetness of youth and the wisdom of those that have been there and seen it all.I loved the story watching the sweet romance unfurl alongside the strength of the family set against this stunning backdrop of the beach. It was a gorgeously, summery, perfectly sweet story that definitely left me with the awww factor

He has wanted to learn how to draw these characters ever since he watched this series about a high school guy who turned out to be a super hero, and always up to saving the world. The Japanese have some extraordinary skills in drawing and this style of animation has taken the world by storm. I kept hearing my son bragging about the latest episode of the anime he was watching and it got me curious. This is a perfect guide for beginners. Thanks to this unique book, my son was able to draw his first one with ease! I was so impressed when he showed me his first masterpiece! The guides are most useful and if you follow them step by step you will find your anime will turn out amazingly well too!

A beautiful, exciting, hot, romantic rollercoaster conclusion to Julian and Nora's story. The first two books mesmerized us with raw emotion, danger, the shocking often painful way Julien abducted Nora and treated her. As the books progressed we see Nora not only develop true feelings and a dependence on Julian, she also comes to realize that his "different " kind of physical love/domination/punishment and reward had actually become something she craved. Surviving and recovering from the dangerous life threatening events they had to live through was exciting and made for a fantastic read. Now in this third installment we are able to experience their relationship as they out the pieces of their lives back together.Nora has come to accept her life on the estate with Julian and continues to flourish as she pursues her art and university degree. She craves Julian and his unpredictable kind of love as much as the air she breathes. This book explores Nora's awakening as a women not just sexually but intellectually, socially creatively. I loved that we are brought closer to her parents and the friends she left behind before her abduction.Julien also evolves on so many levels In this book, although he still has many dark places within he finally allows himself to accept being worthy of being loved and allowing himself to be vulnerable enough to love another. There are still some dangerous suspenseful situations to excite the reader along with the sizzling hot erotic love scenes that Anna writes so brilliantly. Their deep feelings are so often played out physically, totally complement the story and remain true to the characters personalities. This book is very much about how Nora and Julien evolve. How Julien learns that he can accept loving and being loved, protect and develop relationships with Anna's parents and friends. He proves himself loyal and true to the men and people who work for him and goes to tremendous lengths to protect them as well. Still he does remain the controlling possessive man we have come to expect and love as well, this will never change.Nora evolves into a strong women trying to find her place in Julien's world, while not giving up on her individuality and dreams. From her pursuit of creating art , finishing her degree. Nora also becomes kickass heroine taking an active roll in training for martial arts and self defense, insuring neither she nor loved ones to be victims again. She realizes being a part of Julien's world also requires some big changes and challenges. The story was a well paced page turner, loving the ending and grieving the end to an awesome story.Loved how the story is relayed through the back and forth POV's of Nora and Julien. The alternating narration gave the reader deeper insights into the characters thought processes making it a great way to experience the story through two different viewpoints. Reading the three books in order is the only way to go as this is very much two peoples story told over three books that flow into each other. This is a must read amazing series filled with hot romantic erotic situations, intrigue, suspense, excitement, danger ,a phenomenal rollercoaster of emotions from beginning to end.

By Amazon Customer ' Spoilerish' comment aheadThis was a great conclusion to Julian and Nora's story but I would love to see a novella or something with the birth of their child and to see how Julian is as a father and how he's grown as a character now that he's let himself feel.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. One of the best books I've read this year! Love Julian and Nora's Story! Hot! Hot! Hot! By Expresso Julian and Nora’s story is the reason I’m obsessed with dark love/dark erotica. The third and final installment detailed the inevitable: Julian’s acceptance of his true feelings for Nora. Julian is in love with Nora. Unequivocally.Totally. Hopelessly.Unconditionally. I couldn’t be happier! I truly believe Nora simply existed and not LIVED because she didn’t know Julian loved her and loved her unconditionally. Kudos to Anna for a phenomenal reveal of Julian’s feelings!!The final installment was everything I had hoped for and so much more. This story did not disappoint in or out of the bedroom. I was really hoping Nora’s parents would come around a bit more. However, their choice to tolerate Julian is much better than the alternative. This installment is an amazing conclusion to Julian and Nora’s story. I finished the book within hours. The drama, the love play, the plot were too intense to put the book down for a second. Have you ever felt if you turned away for a second, you would miss something? Yeah….it’s that good! The limo gunfight scene was so intense I felt as if I were actually there fighting the bad guys!I love the transition from kidnapped Nora to the strong and confident Nora once she accepted her destiny! What a wonderful gift to herself, Julian, and their family! This book is worth much more than five stars! Congratulations Anna!!!! The series and especially the final installment are masterpieces! Pure literary and sensory genius!
