Many Bible passages are difficult to understand, especially when it comes to the issues of eternal salvation and following Jesus Christ as a disciple. In "Grace, Salvation, and Discipleship" you will find how to approach over 130 difficult Bible passages. Beginning with a clear understanding of God’s grace and using a unique paradigm of “A Truth, B Truth,” you will discover from the context whether the passage is about salvation or the Christian life. In this book Dr. Charles Bing will help you to answer the questions: • Is becoming a Christian the same as becoming a disciple? • Do I have to work to earn or keep my salvation? • How many good works do I need to prove I am saved? • Can I be absolutely certain I am going to heaven? • How should I deal with doubts about my salvation? • How does sin affect my relationship with God? • How can I have a richer experience of God in this life and the next? A correct understanding of salvation and discipleship is crucial to understanding the Bible and growing in the Christian life. Only when we clearly understand what God says can we effectively share a clear gospel, be assured of our salvation, and grow in our relationship with Him. “I have added it to my short list of recommended books on biblical difficulties.” Norman L. Geisler, Ph.D.,

Isbell Grace, Salvation, and Discipleship is written to believers in Jesus Christ who struggle with apparent contradictions or inconsistencies in the text of the Bible. Charlie Bing provides an approach to resolving these by examining over 130 challenging passages. He provides interpretations from a Free Grace perspective that show consistency is not just possible, but likely given a proper understanding of the content and context of these passages. Bing achieves his goal not through detailed exegesis of each passage, but by providing a natural reading of the texts that clearly identifies the audience and the context of each so that important distinctions become apparent. Implicit in his approach is the conviction that the Bible’s message to the believer in Jesus Christ is markedly different than the message to the unbeliever. The message to the unbeliever is singular and simple: “You are a sinner lost and in need of a savior. Jesus Christ has paid in full the penalty for sin and made salvation available through simple faith. (Jn 3:36)” It is like a message from a Judge to a condemned criminal. The only way out for the criminal is a pardon. No amount of work can remove the death penalty. The Bible’s message to the believer is to grow in Christ. This should be evidenced by works, but not necessarily. Some believers behave badly and are appropriately disciplined. (Heb 12:5-8) It is like the relationship between a parent and child where the loving parent guides and disciplines their child to a productive life of good works. When this distinction is maintained, many of the apparent inconsistencies in passages relating faith and works disappear. This is a hallmark of Free Grace theology. Salvation and discipleship are distinct and Charlie Bing ably demonstrates it in this book. The book is well written and readable. It is organized for easy reference so that one can quickly find a passage of interest. It will make a valuable addition to the Christians library.

By Amazon Customer I just read Charlie Bing's new book on the distinctions between passages on salvation and passages on discipleship. This book should be in every pastor's library. Every pastor has to deal with difficult verses that speak of salvation or discipleship. Sometimes it hard to know which. This book has a handy Scripture Index that enables a busy pastor to do quick research on a particular passage. I have used the Scripture Index three times in the last week. Truly a valuable resource.Pastor Tim Hill

Charlie Bing does a wonderful job of comparing and contrasting 103 passages concisely that are commonly interpreted at least two different ways. A full two-thirds of the book is addressing specific passages such as “The Parable of the Soils “ (Luke 8, Matthew 13 and Mark 4). After each passage is a ONE sentence summary of a Lordship Salvation interpretation (A Truth) and a ONE sentence summary of a Grace interpretation (B Truth). Dr. Bing then goes on to explain the support for the Grace interpretation. His handling of the passages is helpful for both Lordship and Grace people. I highly recommend this very useful book!
