By Sinfully An absolutely brilliant start to the second, of what has to be one of the most entertaining, action packed urban paranormal m/m series out there! If you've followed the adventures of Jordan Hawk's SPECTR guys from the beginning, then you'll know exactly what I mean; if you haven't, then what are you waiting for? GO GO GO, and download Hunter of Demons: Book 1— which as I'm writing this, is still—amazingly---a free download…or treat yourself to the complete series one set…but be warned! Once started, this series is extremely hard to put down. An urban paranormal universe, that over the course of the first six novellas will have you totally gripped by its ingenious, seriously addictive story lines, that just get more exciting and hair raising as they motor along.Fast paced and never losing momentum, Jordan Hawk has created a compelling mix of preternatural action and adventure, with an intriguingly unusual threeway relationship between a trio of deliciously diverse characters who have developed into one of my favourite 'ménage's'. Two flesh and blood men: SPECTR Special Agent John Starkweather and, as he starts out in the beginning, minor telekinetic Caleb Jansen and Gray, a powerful Drakul entity who posses him (think vampire of sorts). A complicated relationship that over the first season has grown from a shaky, convoluted love triangle into a strong, united in love and trust trinity, that has developed slowly over the six books but finally cemented itself in the series' explosive (and literally) stormy finale. Omg! I had a catch up session to refresh my memories of series one and I'd forgotten how fabulous the whole set up was, but especially the heart thumping, nail biting ending that was just sooo good!As Mocker of Ravens opens six months have passed, and after cool down from the cataclysmic events of Fort Sumpter, the three of them are now even more deeply committed to each other; their love truly solidified. Johns intense love for both Caleb and Grey as separate personalities, is unquestionable, and Caleb and the awesome Drakul who shares his body, are so closely entwined that when they're facing down danger they work in complete tandem, almost as one; seamlessly slipping from one persona to the other in the blink of an eye as and when the situation demands. Their love for each other is not romantic but the connection they have is deep and unconditional, as being in one body they now fully support and complete each other. But tension is running high among the rest of the members of SPECTR, who are still reeling from the terrible events that hit SPECTR as a paranormal policing agency… hard; treating John, Caleb and Gray with apprehension and a misguided fear about Gray’s true reason for possessing Caleb. Paranoid about the intense power he and Caleb hold. In Johns, case there's no love lost because of his association and sexual relationship with a 'demon' possessed partner they perceive as a future danger. The ungrateful wretches!!!Most of the cast we got to know in the last series, who played a big part in pushing the story forwards towards it's thrilling finale, have now gone...why and how you'll find out if you read the others first...replaced by a new set of characters who add a brand new slant to the ongoing storyline. There’s Chief Barillo, the new SPECTR district chief, who I swear I wanted to slap silly because of his dickish tunnel visioned, obtuse attitude towards the three hero's, and a new female partner for John: Zahira Noorzai, a rookie Muslim agent who because of her progressive ideas about NHE's and their part in the scheme of things, is thrown Johns way. Not just that, no one else is prepared to work alongside the three MC's—so Zahira gets the job! She's a brilliant addition, a very likeable character and another example of Jordan's ability to write strong, clever women into her books who have purpose, and support their comrades in the true sense of the word. A real refreshing change from the usual 'mother, sister, BFF roles' they're generally portrayed as in most m/m stories. I had a blast doing catch up and an even bigger one reading this new episode. A sensually sexy, rip roaring, exhilarating experience that just seems to up the entertainment ante with each installment. The love scenes are hot but really it’s the story that leads this paranormal treat, with it's unforgettable, heart stopping, protagonists (Gray the sexy Drakul...*SIGH*) who will steal your heart and get your pulse rate rising to dangerous levels in both the hotness factor and thrill levels...well apart from the one creepy heart stealer in this who takes that statement literally, giving gorgeous John, beautiful Caleb and hot as hell Gray their first compelling case of this series. I loved it! Don't wait...go buy!

I was so worried that this series would end after the sixth book, 'Summoner of Storms', and I honestly didn't know what to do with myself if that happened. Luckily for me, the author must have listened to all of the SPECTR fans because she started a second series with the same characters. Personally, I think it's a great idea. SPECTR One dealt with how Caleb came to be possessed by Gray, how they started working together with John, an agent of SPECTR, how the three of them fell in love, and how they managed to root out the evils the higher-ups in the organization were up to. Now SPECTR Two can continue. To say I'm jumping for joy is putting it mildly."John’s mouth went cotton-dry. He tried to swallow, but his throat felt sticky. How could this have happened? He’d laid his life on the line to stop Forsyth, and this was the thanks he got? And Caleb. Goddess, he’d thrown away his last chance at a normal life, refused exorcism. He’d sacrificed everything, and this was how people looked at him, how SPECTR saw him…"Sometimes Caleb wonders why he didn't tell SPECTR to kiss off after the events at Fort Sumter last summer. Hell, he knows why. John and Gray enjoy the work too much. But ever since the events of last summer, all the rest of the agents ignore Caleb/Gray, are outwardly frightened of them, or pull stupid pranks like garlic oil on their office doorknob. Sigh. John swears it'll get stopped eventually; he just has to keep filing his complaints. Yeah, he's still Boy Scout Agent John. But, I think it's safe to say, John is getting a little tired of wearing the badges and getting no respect, especially since if it wasn't for Caleb/Gray and John, almost all of the agents would be dead, and demons would be running loose on the eastern seaboard.I loved the plot revolving around the mocker of ravens. Another intriguing demon that keeps Caleb/Gray and John, plus their new partner, Zahira, on their toes. Apparently Zahira, fresh out of the academy, is the only agent who is willing to work with them. That's okay; she turns out to be pretty amazing herself. It's so incredibly easy to get caught up in this world. The author's writing is, as always, phenomenal - sharp, clean, witty, and sexy. Lucky for me, the next book in the series releases in just a few weeks so I can feed my addiction. Of course, then I'll be sad because who knows how long after that until the third book? Thank you, Jordan, I'm crazy about these guys and this world.

Awesome First Book in New Series By Wendy Clements ** spoiler alert **I really enjoyed finding out what happens to John and Caleb/Gray after the fallout of what occurred with Forsythe. It's not exactly pretty. I feel so badly for them, because what they did was heroic, yet certainly isn't seen so by SPECTR, and Caleb/Gray are really seen as something to be feared. Barillo made me want to beat my head against a wall. I really like Zahira Norrzai as the new Agent, but now I'm suspicious of new people, and while I love her enthusiasm and the fact that she's fascinated by Gray and not afraid, I worry that it's all a set up, especially when Barillo said she's the only one that would take the assignment, and she graduated at the top of her class. She's so nice and accepting, I _want_ it to be genuine, for John and Caleb/Gray's sake, just because it would be so great for them to have someone on their side. I know this review is all about the feels I had when reading the book. I think the continuing development of Gray as someone who views humans as somewhat non-sensical creatures but who is now in love with one of them is really progressing in a very cool fashion. I love his and Caleb's internal dialogues. In some ways Gray is so childlike, yet in others he _is_ the monster (or is capable of being) the other agents are afraid of. But he chooses not to be. I think that's one of the more intriguing aspects to me--the agents hunt NHEs yet they really have no more than a superficial understanding of them, which leads to a superficial understanding of their motivations, and in turn leads to their superficial understanding of Gray. They don't understand why John is concerned about things like a more humane exorcism, etc.. IMHO, this is why they don't understand why what John and Caleb/Gray did was such a huge, important thing, and why it was so important that they stopped Forsythe. I'm using words like important and understanding a lot. I guess it's because I've seen real organizations do the same sort of things to people who try to do the right thing, against the status quo of the organization, and are punished for it. To me, this was sort of a "re-grouping" novel, adding in Zahira and establishing how the office is running without Kaniyar. (I miss Kaniyar). I really liked the raven mocker as an NHE, and enjoyed that whole storyline. I liked as well that it was centered around a nursing home, another population that often isn't listened to, and absolutely loved that it was Caleb/Gray who got the information that was needed out of Miss Amy about Dr. McStubbins. The conversation between Caleb and Gray at the nursing home is hysterical as well. This is an awesome next novel in the adventures of John and Caleb/Gray.
