The book, although softcover, is very nicely constructed. The pages are thick and do not stick together. It is a decent size and the font size is perfect.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. An Unforgettable Book By David Milliern I read this book not knowing what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not know anything more than that Gibran was a philosopher and poet, and probably of the Islamic tradition, I embarked upon, what would turn out to be, a wonderful piece wisdom literature. Inspiring in the same way that the very best philosophical and poetic texts can be, I found this book to be oddly reminiscent of some of the most inspiring pieces of religious and spiritual texts I have encountered. I was surprised to find that it is a near-contemporary piece of literature, not a twelfth-century text; and I think I got that impression because of how light (i.e., easy and unencumbering to read) and reflection-inducing it is. Gibran touches practical bits of wisdom that pertain to developing and harnessing a healthy perspective in life and in approaching life’s situations. It is as delightful to read and reread for the beautiful prose, as it is for the wisdom the book contains. Very few books you will come across have the qualities this book possesses, namely, the ability to refresh and relax your mind, spirit, and body.I highly recommend this to all, as this is a classic by virtue of the very definition: it is entertaining, pervaded with value, and a book that does not age. It is content-rich enough to recommend it to scholarship, yet so accessible that the layperson might pick it up and get as much from it. Perhaps most of all, today’s youths need to be slowing down the pace of their lives by enjoying a work like this; and it is especially beneficial because of the fact that some of the books nuggets, which aren’t so novel to the aged and wiser philosophical mind, may be of serious and immediate use to today’s youth.
