Truly a labor of love By Tracy Ann Recently, I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of "In Love Forever," and I knew it was a must-have for my bookshelf. Cary and Wendy Valentine have written an extraordinary book filled with genuine advice, and their approach to improving a relationship goes beyond the obvious "talk to each other." This is a book written from the honest heartfelt perspective of real married people.From the opening pages, I knew that the Valentines had my best interest at heart. They shared personal stories and intimate conversations in ways that are honest and sometimes heart wrenching. Although I have been happily married to my wonderful husband for nearly nine years, the tips for staying "juicy" are good reminders that we can choose every day to live joyously. I especially enjoyed the tips about learning how to listen better (and the "sexting" ideas were awesome).Whether you're single or married, happy or not, there is much to learn in this straightforward no-nonsense approach. Since reading it, I find myself flirting more with my husband during the day, and we send more little "I love you" emails and texts, which have deepened our intimate spark. Predictable and commercial - 2.5 stars By Sandy Milan I really feel like the author is just churning this series out now and she isn't paying her usual attention to quality and content. This book was disappointing for the most part and cheesy on top of that. The only redeeming quality is that these characters aren't closely linked to the main characters from the first 3 books - however they all meet at one of the weddings (main characters from a previous book) and decide that they're going to be friends. The premise of the series is about a 'cursed' wedding dress and all of the marriages linked to the dress. The only redeeming quality, which saved this book from a pure 2 stars is the twist on this couple - they are not star-crossed lovers like the previous characters. There was a lot of 'insta' everything in this storyand I'm trying not to be too irritated whilst writing my review. I've read 4 out of 5 of this series and will probably read the 5th when it is released but the author is in danger of losing me as a fan because of the commercial nature of her writing at this point.

Characters from other books are mentioned but they do not play a central role. There is one central character---A designer wedding gown. One of a kind but something special--a curse!! In this story the heroine is walking down the street when she spots the gown in the window of a vintage clothing store. She is drawn to the dress and has to try it on.When she enters the shop she sees Dylan for the first time. It is like magic in the air, he feels it too. This is a fun, entertaining read., I have liked all the potential brides and the story of the dress is fun. In this book the dress takes a weird turn. There is a big question, is the dress cursed? is there any such thing? And, will it ever have its day to go down the aisle on a beautiful bride? The thing is, where is the dress?This was a fun read and I definitely recommend it.

Fun and Light and Lovely By Book Gannet This was an enjoyable, fun tale of a summer in the life of Piper Brady, an English graduate who’s struggling to match her degree up with real life. She knows the meaning of big and obscure words, can argue the merits of existentialism against postmodernism, but since that doesn’t pay the bills she finds herself working for a Mountain-Dew breathed tyrant in an airport bookshop. Which doesn’t really pay the bills either.Luckily for Piper, no matter how mundane and crushing her everyday life is, she’s also blessed with an awesome best friend, Lin, who provides hugs, support and imaginative conversations that make no sense to anyone but them. That same imagination is how Piper ends up advertising her services on Craigslist. And so begins a round of weird, wonderful, fun and rather awful weddings involving new friends, new experiences, an enemy or two and even a little bit of love.I really enjoyed this book. Piper is a likable character, she’s fun and funny, prone to wild flights of imagination that help her get through the day. She’s also a little insecure, has no faith in her abilities as a writer, has an enfeebled car named Beowulf: the Road Warrior and is actually a really nice person. Her experiences from bad jobs to awful dates and of course the brides and weddings range from funny to cringe-worthy and even a little emotional. I loved reading about her.The other characters are wonderful too, from amazing Lin to Alex the crazy/beautiful new friend, not to mention lovely Charlie, who is perfect for Piper but also too good a man for his own good. This book made me smile a lot, laugh a fair bit and even sniffle back a few tears – when I wasn’t raging at certain characters. It’s not all about weddings either – mostly it’s about Piper, just Piper going through her daily life, letting her imagination run free while she in turn hides from her dreams.It’s light, lovely and fun and a perfect summer read. If you’re in love with words and have the sort of imagination that will run wild if left unchecked for too long, you’ll likely enjoy this. If you like weddings, then there’s plenty to enjoy here too. Mostly read this if you enjoy good characters finding friends and living life the best way they can. Cute Concept By Lydia M I liked the concept of the story and the personality of Piper and how she sympathized with her brides even if they were crazy. I also really liked the friends she made along the way. However, I get tired of chick lit with the token gay best friend and the endless commentary and cliché actions of the token gay best friend. I felt like that added nothing to the story, and it really detracted from all the good life lessons Piper was supposed to be learning. It dropped my review from 4 to 3 stars because I didn't find that part of the story original or even a creative take on an over-used sub-plot. I also got really tired of the endless commentary on Christian parents and how they treat their children. Although at least the author decided to extend that opinion to Hindi and Muslim parents, as well. That dropped it down to 2 stars for me. I get so tired of books painting all people devout in their faith with the same negative broad brush. I really could have liked this book a lot more if the author hadn't included all the commentary on religion.There is a little language in this book, but there isn't any sex. However, the characters do talk about it ALOT.

When I read the description for Borrow-A-Bridesmaid, I was instantly interested. I have been in SIX weddings myself and will be in a seventh next summer, so I definitely wanted to read about someone who made a career out of it!This is a picture of me and my brides!This is a picture of me and my brides!I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Main character, Piper, works in an airport selling books. It's not exactly what she dreamed of after majoring in English in college and having intellectual, academic discussions all day. She is struggling financially, which is why she decides to rent herself out as a bridesmaid. First, Piper fills in for an injured cousin for an OCD musician's wedding. She meets the bride's brother, Charlie, who also has literary aspirations beyond his work as a barista. They have an instant chemistry and connection, but then he leaves unexpectedly to go back to California. Nursing her broken hear, Piper becomes a bridesmaid to perfectly-put-together, successful Alex. Piper's next bride is Stacey, who is marrying a Hindu man and having two ceremonies and needs a bridesmaid for one of them. Then, bride number one, Susan, calls Piper and tells her she has a job for her. Piper is surprised to find herself a bridesmaid for hire in a wedding to her love connection, Charlie. Susan asks Piper to be undercover and figure out why he is marrying the woman he is marrying. Oh boy!I liked Piper and reading about all the weddings she was in was hysterical. All of her brides were so different with such differing personalities and tastes. Piper had to navigate it all with a smile. I love the tale of going to a sample sale and trying to find the perfect dress. I also liked the book's focus on the gap between college and a job that actually relates to your career. Sadly, many people nowadays end up taking a job just to pay the bills even though their passions and college studies were something totally different. Piper's love connection with Charlie was so sweet and enjoyable to read about. They were such a perfect match and I wanted them to end up together! I also liked the secondary characters and Piper's hilarious adventures unrelated to her bridal work.This book caught my interest right away and never lost it. I felt invested in Piper's life and future and was very interested in the secondary characters. I liked that it covered so many different aspects of Piper's life, while there was still one main plot, there were a lot of other things going on, too. It was very funny and I really had no complaints about it! I would certainly recommend this book as a fun, chick lit read! I hope to see more from this author in the future!

From the Author   The basis for 3 Women Walk Into A Bar came from the idea that everyone Googles their own name for one reason or another. Of course, I had to take this a little bit farther.             The noir-esque bits developed from my love of noir films, and the settings are all places I've been or lived in the past. The rest of it came from people I've met, stories I was told or things I've done. I'll let readers guess which is which.

By Joseph Souza, Author of Crime Thriller, NEED TO FIND YOU I picked this novel up three days ago and just finished it. The story is told in various POVs, but the central narrator is, Bill "Free Willy" Tedesco, a PI and ex male stripper. He's attempting to find out what happened to 3 women who died in a Syracuse Irish bar. And it's not what you think, especially considering the fact that there's a dead guy with a gun nearby.I love the way Sands pens this tale. Free Willy's narration has the old time feel of a Dashell Hammett novel. He's street and savvy with a sense of humor. For me, the best part of the book was his unique voice and his interactions with others.Then we get the history's of the women, and the mystery begins to unfold. I enjoyed going back in time and learning the histories of the victim. It added a complexity to the plot which made the novel that much richer. I really enjoyed the way Sands handled the loose ends and tied this novel up. She has a keen eye and ear for the way people speak, and provides wonderful insights about her characters. I highly recommend this mystery!

Fascinating protagonist By PL Linda Sands’ “3 Women Walk Into A Bar” is a murder-mystery that revolves around the peculiar deaths of three beautiful women…and the dead man with a gun beside them. The protagonist, Bill “Free Willly” Tedesco, is a PI with a very unique past (he was a stripper...). As Bill delves deeper into what happened that night, the situation grows more and more complex. Sands writes in first-person with a film-noir tone, really setting the stage for Bill’s witty, cynical, and often-funny voice. I’m a big mystery reader and was really caught off guard with the twists and turns of the plot. Excellent pacing. Sands has stormed into the mystery genre with this successful debut novel that is sure to delight mystery fans. Recommended!

By Amazon Customer The aspect of this book that I appreciated the most was the timber of the voice throughout definitely maintained that the feel of the old black and white detective movies that Sands referenced in her book. The salty understated jokes kept a wry smile on my lips the whole time. Great character development. Nicely constructed plot - though you have to be someone who can hold different plot lines in their head at the same time. Yup - this one's a darned good read.

A Magnificent and Powerful Love Story By Marilyn Shoemaker THE ITALIAN'S FORCE BRIDE by Kate Walker is magnificent; a stunning and powerful love story that I immediately had to read from cover to cover. This love story of Dom and Alice had me in tears, angry and sighing all at once.Alice who has been Domenico's Parrisi's lover for months realizes that she loves him but he is incapable of returning that love. She also overhears gossip one evening that points to him having a mistress so she flees and moves back to England. However, life sometimes plays tricks and for Alice that's the case when she finds out that she is carrying Dom's child. She feels she needs to tell Dom of her pregnancy so she writes him a letter asking him to come to her so she can tell him the truth.Upon Dom's arrival in England, this story takes on emotions so powerful it leaves the reader sitting on edge. Upon hearing the news, Dom demands marriage and takes Alice back with him to Italy. All I can so as not to give the story away, is that there are scenes which will take your breath away, secrets and tragedy and in the end a love so sweet and tender it will leave you laughing and crying at the same time.Congratulations to Kate Walker on yet another magical love story.

Domenico Parrisi never gave his heart, and no woman ever walked out on him. What he started, he brought to a halt when the time came. He worked hard, building his own fortune in the computer industry, and when he had time, he played just as hard as he worked. When he met Alice Howard, he never expected that she would be the exception to the rule. On a working holiday in Florence, Italy, Alice met Domenico at the restaurant where she waitressed. The chemistry was instant and combustible, and an immediate, highly passionate affair ensued. Domenico made it clear from the start that he had no interest in marriage--he had no interest in commitment. Alice tried to listen, letting her body do the thinking, but her heart had a louder voice. She fell in love, and then fell prey to vicious gossip about Domenico and his "other woman". She left him and returned to England. Two months later, she sends word that she must speak with him, and soon he is angrily ringing the bell to her small cottage. Their meeting is fiery, passionate, and then changes all together when he discovers she is pregnant. He insists that they marry, but before the ceremony can take place, their child is lost to a miscarriage. Will the emotion which so often was hidden by the passion between fully bloom into a lasting love? Domenico is much more than the hard-edged business mogul known to the world, but can he let go of painful childhood secrets and trust his heart to Alice? Does she have the courage to once again take a chance on loving him? The title, "The Italian's Forced Bride", doesn't really do justice to this compelling romance from talented author Kate Walker. By RomReader After 6 months together, heroine leaves wealthy Hero b/c she thought he was having an affair with another woman. She writes him a letter a few weeks later about her need to discuss something important with him. When Hero finds out she's pregnant, he proposes marriage for the sake of the child even though he made it clear to her before that he didn't want to marry anyone. Heroine accepts his proposal but feels resentful that he's only marrying her for the sake of their unborn child. As tragedy strikes, both have to figure out what they truly want from each other.Although Walker writes well, I didn't like this book b/c of its heroine. She was whiny, emotionally immature, & passive-aggressive. She wanted Hero to read her mind instead of verbalizing it. Her reason for leaving Hero could've been resolved so easily if she just confronted him with it. A few times I caught myself talking to the heroine while reading about her stupidity. She is definitly TSTL(too stupid to live)! She also kept doing the bipolar I-love-you-&-I-hate-you thing with hero. It made me confused, wondering what was going on with her until I realized it was just another sign of her psychological instability. It didn't help either that she appeared resentful of her unborn child when hero seemed to care for the child more than her. Hero wasn't that hot either. He was domineering & arrogant yet insecure. His reticence to tell heroine the truth about the other woman displayed his insecurity. Although I sympathized with him when heroine acted out, I don't understand why he would be in love with someone like her. This book got my emotions involved alright but not in a good way. It made me want to slap the heroine silly & tell her to grow up!Read only if you want to read about a whiny, passive-aggressive heroine.

It exposed certain "blindside" areas in my life today. The book offers suggestions and helpful strategies (Mental Notes), that assist with digging and thinking deeper about ones choices - either making, and/or about to make. I highly recommend this book. . . . and the journey it will take the readers on.

It made me really sit down and evaluate the reasons for my actions when making decisions on relationships. Chapters 12-15 were my favorites. And I was so convicted after reading the Chapter "Stuck". Get a copy for your younger daughters, sisters, friends.

Halo escalation is an interesting way to convey the most recent halo story, but I think there's just not quite enough content for what you pay (which, granted, isn't much but still). You can read about all of this on the halo wiki for free, but if you're a comic fanatic or just want to experience the silent action yourself, then this is the thing for you.

Dr. Carol Erb beautifully shares her life story, and you will see God's strength shining through, every step of the way. Dr. Erb had to make very difficult decisions in her life path. Her circumstances weren't easy, but she clung to a God who knows her past, present and future, and her story is an encouraging one. I absolutely recommend this book and her expertise, for I've seen it is clever and wise. Carol and I have benefited of some great teaching as we have acquired Counseling degrees at same school. What is so amazing about her story is how Carol talks or writes about God- how personal He is- He cares and takes care of His children. If He has made a way for her, He can make a way for anyone who puts his or her trust in Him in surprising circumstances. Through it all, Dr. Erb experiences His Love for her, which it is true. He will never leave nor forsake you. He knows the plans He has for you... in a warped and crooked generation, you can shine like a star. I believe I see this in her life.

Her experience was so similar to mine that she would have me laughing at the sarcasm that runs through your mind during the most horrific moments of initially finding out about the infidelity....and then I found myself choking back the tears as the pain of dreams lost flooded a young woman's heart and then as she learns to navigate through a life so differently than what she had planned...ultimately she conquered so much as she trusted God and her story is definitely one of Restoration!I also experienced the same thing with the church not being equipped to help those trying to save a marriage in crisis....so I am thankful that there are those like Carol and Walt who are burdened to help those who are in that situation today.If you need a fresh reminder that Jesus is all you need, then this book is a must read for you!

A Story of Hope for Everyone By Chandler McLean Though Carol's story will certainly be a source of encouragement for those who have suffered through a divorce, it is a book for married and single people as well. As a single woman, I found it to be a useful cautionary tale that reminds us that relationships must be built on honesty and trust.While reading, I felt apprehension at the daunting task of making wise relationship choices, yet hopeful and confident that God has a plan for my life. I really connected with the main theme, which is the importance of trusting God and taking risks, rather than staying mired in fear.Enveloped is such an engaging story and a quick read that anyone would enjoy it. I actually finished it in one day! The book clearly traces Carol's journey from start to finish. In addition to its essential messages about faith and relationships, the story details Carol's exciting travels and life abroad.

The story line is about a little snake that likes adventure, but it also includes facts about rattlesnakes that children like to know. The illustrations are great. My Kindergarten class would request it to be read often.
