This book is the quintessential children's story told by a hobbyist with the skill of a veteran. With hints of Dahl, Silverstein, and Shakespeare, Garland weaves a story of time and mice and beauty in childhood.

By Allena Hansen In the tradition of Roy Gerrard and Shel Silverstein . . . well, no, that's not quite right. Hmmmm, lesee here. . . in the tradition of Edward Gorey and Tom Lehrer. . . uh, Edward Lear? Drat, that's not it either. Sam Garland, better known as Poem_for_ your-sprog on reddit.com has finally favored us, his legions of adoring fans, with this delightful (yes, delightful) little volume. I can't urge you strongly enough to treat yourself to a session with his crisp read-out-loud cadences and metronomic rhythms, then go online and pester him into submission for a compilation of his recent work. For those of us who love the music of language well-writ, Garland's wry, gently poignant, and always dead-on little morality tales are a real treasure. Best yet, your sprog will love them too. :-)
