The novel starts as an ordinary train journey, but it becomes interesting with mental turmoils, memories and emotional ups and downs...Except a few punctuation and grammatical liberties (may be common and unnoticeble for younger generations), this novel is wonderful piece of writing. Only one sentence can tell it all, "It is worth buying".

It's just a bit distracting at times.The story was okay but nothing ever really happens and it didn't hold my attention for long periods of time. It's not boring but I was waiting for something to come out of Elly and Kent's relationship. I'm reading along and bam! It's over and there's a preview for the next book. I don't feel satisfied after reading this.I did like Elly and Kent but I didn't like Jen. She couldn't even get Kent's name right and that irritated me.I might read the next books but only if they were free. Maybe there's a satisfying ending in the next one.

Second Chance Love - the High School years By Amazon Customer Not so much a Romance as a Tragadie.I've not read others in the series, but it's clear that Ellyphant is 'second chance love - the high school years.' In other words, without the first chance there wouldn't be a second chance.The narrative was at its strongest when **spoiler** the female lead realised she needed to bullshit her best friend in order to save her friendship with him. Whether that choice was a good idea or not isn't for me to say (I'd like to think I'm smarter than a teenager). What is clear though is that for the character the decision was valid - and made sense in terms of the narrative. And that, for me, was the moment when the narrative went from being simply another high schooly teen-angsty 3 part drama, to something more than that. It was also the time when the narrative choice (of alternating 1st person POV) started working. Because it let us see **spoiler** how the title character's decision played out for him and her (and the GF).A nice read.

I enjoyed reading it, it made me smile, cry, laugh, upset with the way Elly was treated by not only other students, but by her so called "best friend". Neither wanted to lose the other, but weren't mature enough to tell the other how they felt. So in the end they lost each other anyway! :-( I was wondering through out why Jen was with Kent, what game she was playing (other than keeping Ken & Elly apart). Jen seems like the "typical guy" in high school "wanting to get into your pants", which story was true by the way the one she told Elly that she was a virgin or the one she told Ken which she was not. She changed him, I wonder how it will turn out if you decide to continue the story (which I hope you do)! I'm NOT a fan of cliffhangers, but you left it off with a "hopeful" ending, in which it could continue or not.

Durham Retreat, the sixth collected volume of Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight, finds Buffy and her crew of scoobies and Slayers on the run, as the mysterious Twilight begins to set sights on them all for what may be a final killing blow. Seeking sanctuary with Oz, who has since found peace and happiness, it soon becomes clear that the worst is indeed yet to come. One thing that I've noticed since Buffy Season Eight came to fruition is that Joss and his revolving team of writers take advantage of the Buffy-verse being comic book based, with enough wild antics and action to satisfy comic readers of any and every age, regardless of being a Buffy fan or not. However, while veteran series writer Jane Espenson manages to inject enough crackling energy into this storyarc, by the time it reaches its conclusion it feels like it's just too much, and comes close to feeling like it isn't Buffy at all. Not to mention the fact that Georges Jeanty's artwork appears to be waning a bit in terms of how much his renderings of the show's cast reflect their real life counterparts. Still though, Retreat offers up enough goodies for Buffy addicts to dig, and with that in mind, here's hoping that Season Eight keeps going on strong.

Beat a Retreat By Kevin Killian Season 8 keeps getting more and more disconnected from itself, as the storyline moves from the lamentable Buffy meets Fray arc, into the rise of Harmony in "Predators and Prey," and now this, possibly the most depressing storyline since Buffy first went to college. I thought the Scottish slayer castle was dire, but having Buffy and the slayers hit the Himalayas for a crash course in Tibetan Buddhism, under the tutelage of Seth Green, reaches a new high of just plain weird. The slayers must give up their magick powers in order to avoid the all-seeing gaze of Amy, Warren and Twilight. But the gambit never seems to work, despite the mole Buffy has placed within the ranks of the Twilight gang. I never understood what they had done wrong, but the story just sweeps on without regard to logic, sense or even taste.And what happened to Jeanty? I know Faith was in the story, but after comic #1, he has completely lost his knack for drawing her. Every couple of panels I stopped, wondering, who was *that* girl, maybe she was Faith. But I could never be sure. I think Jane E. was also fumbling a little bit at the level of script, so that there really wasn't much for Faith to do anyway. Maybe Faith should have gone Buddhist, taught Oz how not to be a werewolf, married him, and had his adorable baby in a sack, because Oz's wife got most of the big storyline here. Constantly hissing and whispering to Oz, "I do not like it, Ozito, those white girls from your past will bring a tsunami of trouble down on our heads and baby." Worst thing of all, she's right every time.

16 of 20 people found the following review helpful. What has happened? By Derrick O'Rourke This series started off ok but this volume is an absolute mess. A Buffy-Xander-Dawn love triangle - WTH?!! That's a load of rubbish that I don't want to read. Willow still complaining about not being able to control her magic. Come up with something original. Slayers using guns. Faith & Giles turned into minor characters after some development in previous issues and Andrew being more annoying than ever. The return of Oz is a bit hamfisted & cheesey. The appearance of ancient goddesses is awful stuff. This book was one big mess from start to finish. Absolute rubbish and very close to making me leave the Buffy books.

I was very dissapointed because it didn't offer a whole lot more then the basics that you can find just about anywhere else. The "sizzling" photos were mostly photos of topless women who didn't look at all fascinated with the half clothed men they were with.I gave this book a 2 star rating I did pick up a few things but a lot of it seemed like a research paper on sex and the few positions described wern't really detailed enough to try them due to lack of depth or illustration.

Anderson Well delivered and straight-forward info on what a woman needs to know about the male psyche, to insure his sexual pleasure...along with her own! Presents typical senarios that the reader can identify with, as well as answering questions that relate to those situations. Framed boxes of additional info, pertaining to the topic on the page--is outlined throughout the book. From foreplay to climax-- with chapters also addressing fellatio, positions, games, etc. ... a gal will feel she has a better "handle" on her partner's desires--and how to deliver them to her advantage!

I will tell you all now that there are spoilers ahead, so if you're a Flash fan and have no idea what Full Throttle is about, all I'm going to say is pick it up.Anyway, did anyone else really think that Bart Allen's tenure as the Flash would be so short? Full Throttle collects the last issues of Flash: The Fastest Man Alive before the title shifted back to it's old numbering with Wally West at the helm. Full Throttle picks up with Bart Allen relocating to Los Angeles to find himself as he is fully accepting his place as the new Flash, all of which comes shattering down when his old foe Inertia enlists all of the major old Flash rogues (Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heat Wave; c'mon, you know the list) in a plot to rob Bart of his speed, and put an end to his new life as the Flash in the process. Marc Guggenheim (Wolverine, Blade) scripts a majority of the story here, in which Bart's life comes to a tragic, albeit very well done, end; and legendary Flash scribe Mark Waid provides the bookend in which Wally West returns seeking revenge, and sets up new adventures for the scarlet speedster. The various artwork, mainly by Tony Daniel and Ron Adrian, is quite good, and while I was actually enjoying seeing Bart Allen as the Flash (and as morbid as this may sound), it is good to have Wally back for the forseeable future at least. All in all, Full Throttle is worth picking up for Flash fans, as the events that transpire are a new and important part of the Flash mythos, and it's one of the best recent Flash stories you'll read that isn't written by Geoff Johns.

Couldn't do it without doing so!Bart Allen is one of my favorite characters in the DCU. So after what they put him through and the terrible issues that proceed this book, I was pretty pissed that it looked like they were going to kill him. But Gueggenheim wrote a very good Bart and this book is very well done. Made me cry, which comics don't do often. This is an important event in Bart Allen's life, and if you are fan this is a must have!

The Fastest Man Alive By Jamie Newman Bart Allen is truly the Fastest Man Alive In this story, he has the combined speed of all of the dead speedsters (including Barry Allen, Wally West, and Jay Garrick). You can really see the true heroism of the Flash like never before in this series.

I didn't like how it was chopped up into this mini books. This would be better as one book. It lost a star because of the choppiness.

I would normally read a chapter and put the book down for a while, but not with Kristin. I have read all her books and find this to be her finest. I like the way she frames a relationship in a wholesome way making her books something that can be read by any age and enjoyed.

By sj in al Finding the right words to convey what I think about this book is difficult. At a 3 Star rating, the book is worth a read. The characters and story line read real, but lacks the punch and depth that pulls you into the story. At times I found myself skimming pages. Mostly this is due to the "set up" of Shellwater Key as a multi book series. Unlike most HEA reads, the leading male, Grayson never fully develops and is not part of rescuing the damsel in distress. However, like a good southern novel, there is drama, family struggles, and personal growth all tied in to the restoration of an old theater.Bottom line: This series has tremendous potential. Kristin Wallace is a talented writer who has insight and is perceptive to the small nuances in human interaction. Because of this, I will read the 2nd book in the series because I believe that the characters are now identified and the story line is set, her characters will really begin to grab you.P.S. Aunt Grace is aptly named. She is the one character that was created with love and care.

Layla is introduced as a successful woman who, due to bad circumstances, has lost everything. The backdrop is offered as quick information, but unlike many stories, doesn't feel like a dump. I felt pulled in right away, ready to launch into how she digs herself out of the mess and back into life.The relationships and personal interactions between characters are well done with lots of heart. I enjoyed reading the conversations and getting to know the characters. Especially the small things seemed to grab and make the story more realistic. The characters are as they should be, swoon worthy, gorgeous and learning to fall in love. It's a satisfying romance with nice touches and a great kick-off to a series. I simply enjoyed the read.
