** Adult Romance, Part 1 of 3 ** Benella is concerned with two things--avoiding the two village boys who torment her and scrounging for food to help feed her family. Unfortunately, the best wild fruit and vegetables are near the walls of the estate, a dark misty place inhabited by an unforgiving beast. When her tormentors lock her behind the massive gates, Benella knows her fate is sealed. Yet, the fate isn’t one she expects. Her encounter with the beast starts a bizarre cycle of bargaining for her freedom, a freedom the beast seems determined to see her lose. A classic fairy tale with a seductively dark new twist, the Beauty and the Beast saga begins with Depravity. Intended for mature readers due to sexual situations and moderate language. Review "A heroine in a world filled with captivating secrets. This enchanting setting harkens back to the original fairy tale while still punctuated with colorful and thrilling twists." - IndieReader"[Ms. Haag's] imagination and perception of how this story should really be told is completely outstanding and this book deserves way more than five stars." ~ Laura, Voluptuous Book DIVA"This is Beauty and the Beast like you've never read it before. It's boldly sexy, fresh, and unique. Ms. Haag has an amazing ability to describe her protagonist's personalities, build a faultless plot, and deliver a book that makes you beg for more. Bravo, Ms. Haag. I can't wait for book 2." ~ EB Walters, USA Today bestselling author of Indulge"Well-written, well-paced, fun, exciting, romantic and suspenseful, Depravity is a book that would appear to any reader who enjoys fantasy, romance, suspense, fairy tales, or just a plain good work of fiction." - Tracy A Fischer, Readers Favorite reviewer

From the Author I love Beauty and the Beast tales and that love made writing the Beastly Tales one of my favorite projects.  This tale isn't for the faint of heart.  Part 1 shows just how beastly the beast really is and why he was cursed, as well as the series of questionable events that occur to lead Benella to the place she's meant to be.The Beastly Tales are not stand alone books.  They are meant to be read together, in order.  Enjoy!

The heroine is quite admirable carrying the load to support her family. The story did have a lot of potential but several aspects kept me from truly liking it. First off some scenes read as if they were from an erotica novel but it was with secondary characters etc..This did not feel like a YA novel. It was quite strange the way the sex, hand jobs, all things sexual were portrayed. I think the main reason I didn't like this book was because the "beast" never showed any redeeming qualities. He was consistently a moody, demanding di_k. The heroine witnessed him f_cking a wood nymph through the window. No explanations etc. and quite frankly I really don't care what his reasoning was. When I read a book I don't want to hear about the hero or heroine getting on with other people (or things) . I paid .99 for this book and it ended on a cliffhanger. All things considered it unlikely I will continue this series.

Too bad Haag decided to put a cliffhanger in there. The story was very interesting... sortof a cross over between a few different stories (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast) with a slightly darker side.It was kindof predictable, but in a magic sort of way... the good stuff you would expect from good faerie tales.Had a darker slightly sexually graphic side, but in an interesting "premises of story" way.But the story was ruined by the non-ending. If you need a place to stop, then make a good conclusion and leave the beginning of the next part of the story for readers to read and want to buy! Don't leave off on what you know to not be the conclusion. The ending left a sour taste in my mouth.Generally I only leave 1 star for a cliffhanger. But the writing was very good. Perhaps the author will change it to have a conclusion (ending before the sickness perhaps? Or extending the story to complete it?). I will change my review then. I would love to give it 5 stars... but not with a cliffhanger!

By Jennifer **Received an ARC for an honest Review**Depravity is a new spin on an old classic, Beauty and the Beast. In Depravity, Benella is a young girl who is strong, caring, and kind. She comes from a poor family and lives in a town where many of the other families are poor as well. She goes out of her way to provide for her family. Her role in the family is to walk around the woods and town looking for items to either eat, sell, trade, or be used to make something else. She travels many miles a day. She is described as beautiful, but it is also noted that she wears trousers and does not like wearing tight fitting clothes or dresses. After a run in with some local boys, she is forced to enter The Estate, which is described as a magical, walled in area that is protected by a beast. This beast is described as a creature that was set to protect the estate and often times has killed others who have sought to steal from the estate. It seems the area is feared and no one dares to enter. Although Benella is scared, she doesn’t show it, as she is strong. After this chance encounter with the beast, a series of events changes her and her family’s lives.I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in one sitting. I was already excited for the book because I am a fan of the author, but she surpassed my expectations. There is a cliffhanger, but I feel like it was organic and happened at the perfect time to leave the readers wanting more. The author writes Benella in a way that you can commend her for being so strong and wish that you had a similar strength. Disclaimer: There are some darker topics in this book, such as assault and some sexual situations. I believe these darker topics actually helped shaped the book for me. Although some areas were repulsive, it added an element to the story that I think would have been missed otherwise. It gave the story more depth. I also loved how she wrote the villains of the story. You truly do not like these characters and I could feel myself become outraged on Benellas behalf, which I love in a book. I would 100% recommend this book to others. Below is my overall rating and some of my favorite quotes:Plot = 5/5Characters = 5/5Heat = 5/5Writing Style = 5/5Overall Rating = 5/5(view spoiler)[Quotes:Scene 1“What are you doing?”“Going to sleep.”“The witch said not to.”“And you just roared at me. So what? If I die, I die. I am tired of being bullied by you and the idiots in the village. If I live, so be it. At least, I’ll have had a few moments of peace.”Scene 2“You would deny me after all I’ve given you?”“you mean what you gave me freely, I never asked you to spare me.”“But I did offer you one thing,” he said.“And forced me to accept it in order for my release. You cannot demand a price for things freely given.”
