Read Ebook Crave the Night: A Midnight Breed Novel, by Lara Adrian

With the acclaimed Midnight Breed series, New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian has written thrilling novels of electrifying romance and heart-pounding suspense--page-turners in which humans and vampires live tenuously side by side. In Crave the Night, Adrian brings the Breed and its world to the brink of war, where even the deepest passion can shatter into violence.   Born and raised to be an emotionless killing machine, Nathan is one of the most lethal Breed vampires in existence. A key member of the Order--an elite group of warriors charged with protecting both mortals and vampires--Nathan executes each mission with flawless precision and a total lack of mercy. Now he must pursue a powerful, hidden enemy. But Nathan's hard discipline and training are no match for the fierce pull he feels toward a young woman he has no right to desire--a woman of wealth and high social standing who has long been promised to another Breed male, and who may also prove to be the key to rooting out Nathan's elusive quarry.   Jordana lives a life of glittering privilege as a member of a prominent Breed family in Boston. Surrounded by fine things and fawning admirers, Jordana wants for nothing--until she crosses paths with a dark, intense warrior from the Order and finds herself swept into an impulsive, sizzling kiss that neither of them will forget. As much as she tries to deny her deep feelings for Nathan, Jordana cannot resist the craving to be near him, to break through his forbidding walls and see the man he truly is. But getting close to Nathan will thrust Jordana into a treacherous new world, forcing her to risk all she has and all she knows about herself and her past. And loving this seductive man could be the most dangerous temptation of all. Crave the Night: A Midnight Breed Novel, by Lara Adrian

Review “The adventure continues in the twelfth Midnight Breed novel from prolific and talented [Lara] Adrian. This time it’s Nathan, a first generation Breed vampire who was raised as an emotionless hunter, who takes center stage. In the previous book, the revelation of a new enemy turned the world of the Breeds and humans upside down, forging new alliances. Although polar opposites, the fire that sparks between Nathan and privileged Jordana Gates is not to be denied—ensuring readers are in for one thrilling and romantic read!”—RT Book Reviews “Nothing beats good writing and that is what ultimately makes Lara Adrian stand out amongst her peers. . . . Adrian doesn’t hold back with the intensity or the passion. The sexual tension between Nathan and Jordana is off the charts and sizzles each of the pages. While slow-burning in intensity at the beginning, Adrian really shows off her writing skill in a series of twists that will surely make reader’s head spin. . . . Crave the Night is stunning in its flawless execution. Lara Adrian has the rare ability to lure readers right into her books, taking them on a ride they will never forget.”—Under the Covers “Impossible to put down.”—Fresh Fiction“Adrian’s steamy and intense twelfth Midnight Breed vampire romance adds new dimensions and new conflicts to her near-future world. . . . This installment is sure to delight established fans and will also be accessible to new readers.”—Publishers Weekly  “Every time I open a new Midnight Breed book I am instantly sucked back in to this world and held captive until the last page. . . . Crave the Night is another action-packed, well-written love story from one of the leading authors of paranormal romance. Not, because it’s not action packed and sexy, because it is. But, because it’s too predictable. It’s an instalove story. There is no scene or conversation between Nathan or Jordana that made me feel as if they were falling in love. It’s all lust and animal magnetism. It’s all long looks across rooms and heated eyes. These two characters don’t know each other. Sure, they want sex, but they don’t actually know if they like each other. All of a sudden there’s talk of dying to save the other and it’s like, huh? What has happened to meld this intense bond of emotion? Nothing that I read.Another reason it’s predictable is that Nathan is just another damaged hero. I have to admit that I’m a little ticked by this. Because, I read a Deeper than Midnight. I saw all of what Corinne went through to get her son back. Ok, he was 12 or 13 when he was saved from Dragos’ lair, but if this book is to believed the next 20 years meant nothing. Nathan doesn’t like to be touched. There’s a scene where Jordana tends his injuries and he’s all never has anyone done this for me….You mean to tell me that Corinne never hugged her boy, never healed his injuries, never wiped his sweat or tears?!When Nathan becomes all obsessed with Jordana and they notice, Lucan asks Hunter his advice and Hunter is all, “he’s our son, but he’s already a man when he came to us…” So, I wasted all my time with Deeper than Midnight, because they never actually saved him. He was physically free and that was enough for his parents cuz at 12 he was already a man and after risking their lives for him they just let him skulk alone without touch or affection? Bull! Consider the fact that every member of the Order has physical, emotional or mental trauma of their own. Consider the fact that his own adoptive father, Hunter, went through the same exact thing and for much longer! Why would Nathan be that damaged! Why did they not help him? Why didn’t he speak to a shrink, etc? Nathan’s state of being in this book is disrespectful to fans of Deeper than Midnight. One thing that Crave the Night does really well is tease about what’s to come. We learn about the Orders new enemies and their power. We now know why the Atlantean’s hate the Breed and their long history of war. Still, this book could have used a bit more. In the other series we knew Dragos. We were in his head and understood his plans. This installment basically has a faceless villain and I feel this was the authors chance to really introduce us to the bad guys.As a fan of the series, I will always enjoy glimpses of the old couples and seeing their children as adults who live in the world we experienced their parents work so hard to build. I also think that Ms. Adrian is a fun writer who makes her books entertaining no matter what. Still, I found myself disappointed by this book.ARC Provided by Delacorte Press

Boring & repetitive By M from California **Some Spoilers*This used to be a really good series, but I think it has gone downhill since Lara Adrian decided to do a time jump in Edge of Dawn. This series used to be about The Order & the warriors that were part of it. Not only did we get a story about a warrior finding a mate, we got story about what was going on inside The Order & the world with a lot of interaction between the warriors. In this book, all we got was Nathan or Jordana thinking about sex, or having sex, & then finally, thinking about having more sex after just having sex. There wasn't really much other plot. I found myself skimming through a lot of the book, bored by the repetitive sex scenes. The book was so much about sex that after they defeat the Queen’s guards in her father’s secret house & Zael tells them that she will send more guards as soon as she realizes the first batch are dead, they don’t leave, they stay & have sex. Multiple times. It’s ridiculous. Then at the very end every Order member shows up in Boston, I guess to remind us of what the series is supposed to be about. It wasn't enough for me.If I want to read about nothing but sex, I can find free porn on the internet, I don’t need to buy these books to read about it.

Crave the Night (Midnight Breed, book 12) Review By Stephanie G (Reviewer for Paranormal Haven) Born into a violent life of absolute obedience, Nathan now leads a team for the Order in their ongoing battle to protect vampires and mortals. He uses his assassin training mercilessly against his enemies and prides himself for being able to keep his emotions in check. That is until a kiss from a high society darling threatens to shatter his self-control. Ever since her impulsive kiss, Jordana’s life of privilege and careful planning feels so dull. Her feelings for Nathan scare her and his demanding touch sets her on fire and makes her crave more. As she contemplates her future, a visit from a mysterious man puts her at the center of Nathan’s investigation, making her question everything that’s happened between them.Dragos’ brutal Hunter training program tried to beat the emotions out of Nathan but all it did was bury them deep. At times, he comes off as being cold towards Jordana but he knows no other way of reacting and evolves as she works past his defenses and makes herself a necessity in his life. His own style of intense passion burns hot and only for Jordana and it’s such a huge draw. The change in his character feels right for the path he’s on and only adds to his appeal. So far, he’s my favorite hero in the new batch of Breed warriors fans got after the 20 year time jump in the previous book.Jordana is…engaging enough. She has a kind heart but spends a lot of time in the beginning denying what she feels for Nathan and hides behind her father and his plans for her, one that includes a well-respected fiance that she has ZERO chemistry with. By the time she realizes Nathan is the one, she acts quickly and out of character and it comes off as forced. Surprising though, I found the sex scenes to be blazing hot. All credit goes to Nathan. He’s unapologetic in his demands and how Jordana was able to stay up right when he got all growly and possessive his beyond me. I’m not so keen on the romance but the sex, hot damn, I want more! With Dragos long gone, the Order has a new enemy in the Atlantiens. The Atlantien queen wants war against the Breed race as retribution for their forefathers (the Ancients) destroying her homeland and killing many of her people. Jordana plays a role in all this, unbeknownst to her. I found it to be coolest thing about her. I like the direction the series has taken, with the time jump and new foe. It’s given a needed shot in the arm to the series but I’m ready for something big to happen and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it includes an appearance by the queen.Nathan and the younger Breed generation haven taken over are leaving their mark. Lara Adrian is doing a fabulous job at giving fans what they’ve come to love from her books while tempting them with new possibilities. I’m normally a stickler for reading a series in order but here I don’t think it’s necessary. However, I do recommend reading Edge of Dawn so you’re up to date on the current direction the series is heading.
