27 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Just not for me!!!! By Lillymay Black I have no idea why I didn't completely love this book. The writing was fantastic I usually like a dark read. I guess sometimes it is what it is. I guess what was wrong for me is that this wasn't a dark erotic read which I assumed. and I know you shouldn't assume. It was more a very violent explicit gory read. In fact not much sex in this book at all except towards the very end, and by than I hated Jude so much it was hard to enjoy it. I also wasn't real thrilled with Tor either her actions seemed so confusing considering the situation she was in. I have to think as much fighting she did that these men would have hurt her a lot more than they did in the beginning. I have to say pay attention to the warnings because this is very violent not much happiness and it does end on a cliff-hanger.

It spent too much time setting the series that i got bored - ends on cliffhanger By Goddess of Blah Book Reviews DNF 25% - you have to be really careful about books that receive so many 5* reviews- this is one of them.Negatives:1. Way too much time setting out the series and the scene which compromised the plot. It became tedious.2. Very little chemistry or build-up between the characters. By 20% of the book - if there's not any fission then I'm done for.3. The characters were clichés - Victoria starts out great as an English Doctor but then becomes a whinging blonde constantly angst-y shouting mess.Reading Jude's POV makes me wonder if I'm actually meant to be reading about a biker. His guilt over Victoria was getting tedious - like get over it mate4. So much of the book was creating an atmosphere and demonstrating how scary and hot Jude was and less about the plot. Even Victoria's boyfriend was a plot device to make Jude look good - he's the preppy blonde cliché who's weak and pathetic compared to Jude's criminal mob boss personality.6. I was waiting for the banter but so far it was just shouting matches and what not.7. The kidnapping was ridiculously executed - a total farce and unconvincing. It's been done before and much better.----------------------Positives:1. Heroine isn't the usual trailer trash but an educated doctor with an English accent----------------------I think this book would work better if the author focused on the plot, less melodramatic angst-y scenes and didn't rely heavily on clichés and formulaic plot devices

I, for one, couldn't wait to start reading it. My first clue should have been in the first chapter. This book was going to be dark, if only I knew how dark it was going to get...Meet Victoria, a resident on her way to becoming a doctor. She has everything that she has every wanted. Till she is at the wrong place at the wrong time, or is she? Her douche bag, and that's a nice name for him (I'm keeping it PG) well he owes money to the wrong people. When I say wrong people, I don't mean just the little street corner thug, I mean the kind that will find you, beat the crap out of you and then cut you into tiny little pieces. Yup this is the hero in this story.So when her boyfriend can't come up with the money, he trades her for it. He basically exchanges a human person for a debt. Clue number two this isn't what I think it is.This poor innocent girl is taken for a debt. What she doesn't know is that she is now entering the gates of hell.Jude is the guy who is our main character. I can't say our hero. because frankly I couldn't even begin to like him because of his actions.I'm the definition of wrong. I'm violent, I'm greedy, and I stop at nothing to win. I'm a notorious bookie and in my game paying with your life is not just a figure of speech. You lose, I collect. I take whatever you have.Now that he has her, he doesn't know exactly what to do with her. Except when that seed of doubt is planted in his head, he thinks she is something or someone else. He doesn't understand his feelings towards her. He is at war with himself, knowing all that he is and all that he has done, is there really someone decent inside him? I would answer this question, but I'm not going to.This book was so far out of my comfort zone that I had to stop and take a step back from reading, many times. I went back to make sure I was indeed reading what I thought I was.It was really a roller coaster ride, but one that I wanted to get off.This is a cliffhanger, I can't say if I will read the next one or not. The jury is still out.
