"Ragemoor! A living castle, nurtured on pagan blood, harborer to deadly monsters! A fortress possessed of its own will and ability to change itself, with the power to add and destroy rooms and to grow without the help of any human hand. Its owner is mad with jealousy, its servants aren't human, and its secret's horrific! From the creators of Mutant World! A gothic nightmare àla Poe and Lovecraft! ""Richard Corben and Jan Strnad are like the Jack Kirby and Stan Lee of post-EC monster comics, responsible for classics like The Last Voyage of Sindbad and Mutant World. To see the two of them back together and a project like this is just exciting as hell.""Mike Mignola (Hellboy, B.P.R.D.)"

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The Return of Gothic Horror! By S. Singer Richard Corben and Jan Strnad. If that isn't enough to make you buy this book, you know very little about the history of comic books. This is one of the classic teams of horror and fantasy - think "Mutant World". They've been doing some of their best work together since the 1960s. Corben's artwork is unique. There is no one else like him. His textures and character design are unparalleled. Even though he's even better in full color, his black and white work will still blow you away. It's actually more fitting given this storyline. Add that to Strnad's storytelling and you have one of the best horror comics to come out for at least 20 years. Maybe 30.Strnad's story fits perfectly with Corben's style. This is gothic horror - like if Lovecraft and Poe had a demon child. It's so much better than the torture porn that gets passed off as horror these days. Oh! It's wet and violent and meaty, but that's not the point. There's much more to it.In short, this book would be worth it just for the art. You'll page through it again and again just to savor Corben's images. However, Strnad's story will suck you in, too, making this a perfect partnership. Finally, this first chapter could stand by itself. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy anymore. However, I find that to be impossible. Don't pass this up!
